John and Denise are a great team. They helped us with our chimney cleaning/inspection and also provided a lot of support trying to find a wood stove that would work for our unique set up. Their prices are very fair. We will use them again for cleanings etc. Thank you UP IN SMOKE for all your help. read more

Used Up in Smoke to inspect my fireplace recently as I was under the impression that it was not safe to use. They came by, inspected the fireplace thoroughly and assured me my fireplace was in good working condition. Since, I have not stopped using my fireplace! Very professional, honest company! This is our first winter season in the High Desert. We wanted to find out the condition of our fireplace and wood burning insert. John arrived promptly and after an on roof inspection and the insert itself, we were informed that the previous owner must have had it cleaned beforehand. We were pleasant surprised on his honesty and integrity. John even gave us an overview on how this insert works (which we needed). Very happy with this business. read more

I had an appointment at 10:30 for an inspection and cleaning, John showed up 15 minutes early. He let us know that our chimney looked great, and didn't need a cleaning and gave us some recommendations in regard to the problem that we were having (bon fire smell when not burning anything, or smoking filling the house mid burn). He was very honest, and kind will definitely use them again! read more

We were on the waiting list from Country Oak And Stove to get our chimney cleaned. I hadn't noticed but the cap between the oil and the dust had become clogged.. we would've had to wait three weeks but a coworker recommended up and smoke. They made an appointment in just a few days. They texted the appointment. They texted a reminder. They showed up on time. John did amazing work. He was fast, professional, and obviously experienced. He took my entire stove apart, cleaning every bit of it. Swept the chimney and told me if I had any problem she would take care of it for free.. I'm only calling this company for my woodstove and chimney needs in the future. I highly recommend them. read more

I should have wrote this review a while back but better late than never. John from Up in Smoke is a straight shooter and is very honest in his business practices. We bought a new house that has a wood burning stove in the living room in lieu of a fireplace. John came out and inspected our chimney and was surprisingly honest and said our chimney was good for the rest of the season and next season before it would need to be cleaned. John could have just went through the motions of cleaning it even though it didn't need it and charge us the full price for the cleaning but he was honest and only charged for the inspection. Well, we know now who we will call when our chimney needs swept... that's Up in Smoke. We highly recommend Up in Smoke read more

We received personal, professional and on time service from this wonderful family owned company. They were honest about what we needed and did not need. We made a list of what I thought was needed and after receiving their expert advice and surveying our concerns they showed us why we did not require and advised us on maintenance on our end to ensure safe fireplace usage. I will use them for all our needs! read more

Excellent work, customer service with a price we could afford. We lived here for over 21 years & this is the first time our wood burning stove has been serviced. The owner gave my husband & I pointers as well as advice for maintaining the wood burning stove. That was much appreciated. Thank you!!! read more

Great Chimney Sweep Service! On time unlike the others, very thorough and do not try to upcharge like the others either.

We are so happy we found this incredible company. From first contact, through the completion of the installation of our wood burning stove, Up in Smoke provided wonderful service, top-notch expertise, and an overall outstanding experience. After contacting them through Yelp, they followed up with us and got us an installation appointment for the following week. John was on time and completely prepared for the job because he and his wife took the time to find out all the details about our chimney and stove ahead. Before John installed the chimney liner, he thoroughly cleaned our chimney and removed the damper and a gas starter that was in the way. John is also a firefighter, and he is meticulous about safety. He capped the gas line that was used for the starter, to make sure even if someone turned it on, it would stay off. Cleaning a chimney is a very messy job, but they covered our rugs and flooring, and left the area spotless. After John completed the chimney liner and wood insert installation, he walked us through all the the features and operation of our stove. Their bill was the same as we were quoted in our estimate, and the total was very affordable and fair. When John and his wife left, we saw that they had completely broken down all the boxing and materials from the stove we'd ordered, and even left the outside tidy and organized. This company goes above and beyond to provide excellent service and expert work. It's a family owned company that really treated us like family. We highly recommend them! read more

I would give it 10 stars if I could. Denise is very professional and responsive in answering our questions and setting up the appointment. Due to schedule conflict, we hoped that John could come sooner and he did. They did research ahead of time, knowing the exact model and parts. John squeezed us in at end of the day, and turns out we just did not operate the fireplace correctly. He taught us how to use it, very patient, and didn't charge us because there was nothing wrong. They urged us to keep our original appointment in case sth goes wrong. From now on, I will go to them w all fireplace related needs. Excellent service! read more

John came out the next day after my husband called to make an appointment for an inspection of our wood burning stove needed for new homeowners insurance. He was honest and let us know that we were good until 2023 before a cleaning was needed. He gave great advice ( burn hard wood, make sure to open a window to let the cold air out, be watchful of your chimney cap, etc) . Look no further, you won't need anyone else! Also, he has brick and accessories should you need to purchase them. read more
