I travel a lot and was on the East Coast for a few months and happened to find myself in Providence, RI and happened to come upon this store. The building it's located in is a bit odd, it looks like an old schoolhouse or something. The ceilings were really high which gave the illusion that this place was spacious, but the square footage was small. The amount of tables was decent and they had a fair amount of seating considering how small it was, but it was miserable inside because they have NO central air conditioning. Along with the fact that there is no A/C the brick walls and ceiling were not insulted and since it' son the first floor it pretty much becomes a nasty sweatbox during the Summer and Spring (forgot to mention the humidity) and an icebox during the winters. So if you want to turn into a popsicle or cook/fry come here. As soon as my friend and I walked in she noticed how miserably hot it was inside and wanted to leave. Since I was the one that wanted to go inside and wanted to get something I made her wait a few minutes while I browsed and grabbed a few small things to buy. This was a big mistake because when I looked up I caught some of the employees and another middle-aged, robust, bearded guy pretty just leered and undressing her with her eyes. I approached some of them and saying "Can I help you?" and then telling the employees that "Her eyes are up here man" and pointing to her face when they were staring at her tits. Their reponse? A snide "Pffft" and "Whatever." A message to management and the owner, you might want to get rid of the employees that sexually harass your female customers before word gets around that this behavior is acceptable in your establishment. So unless you want to freeze in the winter, fry in the summer and get harassed if you're a female, I would stay away from this place. If those things float your boat, then come here immediately and you'll have a blast. read more

You all need to have better control of your inventory, especially on higher value items. While not the cheapest online retailer, they provide a slight MSRP discount and offer fast and free shipping. Since they use USPS priority, I typically receive my orders within a few days, and they always arrive in great condition. I live all the way on the other side of the country, but I'm happy to have come across Untapped Games and will continue to patronize them for sealed Pokemon product. read more

I was looking for a place to grab a specific board game expansion that wasn't available at many at box stores and other more general 'toy stores'. While they didn't have the game I was looking for, they had plenty of others and were happy to order the game for me. Several days later, the game was available for pickup and they even started carrying the base game for others! Really efficient and convenient (way better than ordering games online). Aside from that, it's a cool space with a lot of great games for sale. Pricing is on par with online retailers. There's even games available to play at the store. Kind of a 'try before you buy' kind of thing. Seems like a good place for Magic, although I'm not a big player. I'd be happy to come back for my gaming needs! read more

My two teenaged sons like to search for tabletop game stores whenever we stay in a new town, so we have seen a bunch on the East Coast and a few in CO; Untapped Games is one of the best for sure. The high ceilings and large windows make the space feel more spacious, and the staff as well as customers are super kind. Great selection of games, and weekly events are fun. My kids have been coming to Magic events for the past several years and they always leave happy. They often comment how nice everyone is. I saw the post above about the temperature, and I'm thinking that must have been an off day or something because we have never experienced that. Very comfortable in all weather. read more

After finding out about this establishment, I couldn't wait to check it out, but what I found was quite in contrast to my expectations. As a result, this review is based on this place as a board game store, as opposed to a locale for community table top gaming. The board games sold here are certainly top-tier board games, and you won't find Monopoly, Sorry, or Apples to Apples here. However, the prices are really not comparable to online stores like Amazon and I felt there was an absence of incentives to buy the games here. They do offer a few board games that you can rent out for the day at really reasonable prices and I think it would make for a great in-door game night, but I think they should have more comfy chairs as opposed to the hard plastic chairs. read more

Untapped is a gaming store that seems to specialize in trading card games like Magic, Pokemon, etc. Since "gaming" is a broad category, I should clarify that they don't sell video games, didn't seem to have anything in the way of role-playing games and weren't big on European style boardgames. They're located on the second floor of "The Mills" - a mill building in the middle of the fork in the road where North Main Street splits into Main St and Pawtucket Ave right over the Providence/Pawtucket line. I was there for a King of Tokyo tournament organized by an outside party. Funnily enough, the store doesn't seem to sell King of Tokyo, but they did have a good amount of tables to play and were kind enough to donate the space on their day off. I primarily am a MTG player and I was looking for a store with reasonable prices, especially on sealed product. I'm am excited to say that I've found exactly what I was looking for! Staff is friendly and their prices on booster boxes of MTG are the best I could find - and I've visited over a dozen shops between Providence and Boston. They also participate in the Five Stars rewards program, reducing their rock-bottom prices even further. I cannot recommend this place enough. Great place to meet and play with fellow Pokémon people like myself. Steve runs a great Pikachu punch league on Tuesdays evenings and also runs great prereleases of Pokémon as well. The staff and the owner are super friendly, helpful, and generally knowledgeable. They participate in the Five Star program, which allows you to earn free product with cumulative purchases. Untapped is excellent for draft, FNM, and pre-release events (cheapest pre-releases in the area too). Space is a little limited most of the time (the worst probably during FNM before a pre-release, as more players tend to show up) but they reconfigure the shelving space to accommodate more tables for larger scheduled events. They now also use wide screen TVs to list match-ups, which the store was lacking for a while. It's a big help for players new to the store who don't know the regulars by name/face. Their online presence is also VERY good. Their buylist is very competitive to other online outlets, and allow you to deliver by hand if you are local. Also, choosing store credit as your payment option grants you +10%. As many other shops, they also sell sealed product from midnight of the release date, allowing you to buy booster boxes etc. without waiting. Untapped is local to several shops in the area, including Temple Games (Pawtucket), Die Hard Games (Pawtucket/Lincoln border), Mana Core (Providence), and Game On! (Fall River, MA). Each of these stores offers something different, but Untapped offers the best payout for selling cards (by far) and lowest pre-release prices (by far). read more
