I travel the country for a living, and you can imagine my caution when it comes to finding someone to do a cut and color as I'm on the road, always in a new city. A few weeks ago I had my hair cut and colored at a beauty school in Phoenix, AZ (first and last time I'll ever do that) and I ended up looking and feeling terrible after the weird brown color set in! (I came in to have my roots touched up, and my blonde highlights refreshed a bit) Not to mention the uneven cut she gave me.. (I have curly hair, she gave me short(ish) bangs that were completely out of control. It looked a mess!) I ended up in Toledo, OH for work soon after my beauty school hair disaster, and I feverishly began looking for help! I called Untamed and was given an appointment for the same evening with Alicia. She couldn't have been a better stylist! She listened to all of my needs and she was such a sweetheart! She took the muddy brown color I was left with, and made it the perfect shade of blonde- exactly what I wanted! She also cleaned up my crazy cut! Throughout the entire appointment she made great conversation, and the overall vibe at the salon is so relaxed! I live 4 hours from Untamed, and it would definitely be worth it to make the drive back to have Alicia do my hair again! So, I needed a place to get my grey hair roots touched up, because after 3 months I'd had enough. I waited & waited but we had a Dr appt in Toledo & since MI was still closed, I decided to go & get my roots touched up. I found this place because I saw a review that said someone travelled 4 hours to go here because Alicia did such a great job. I called & they said they had a hypo-allergenic hair color for me. I made the appointment & showed up on time with my mask etc. Alicia seemed super nice and the hair color did not burn my head. I liked the color and it turned out great except the roots were lighter than rest of my hair. My hair was super long and was giving me a head ache. I asked if she was really good with long,, thick & wavy hair. She said yes and I allowed her to cut it. It sadly was very chopped in the back. I was very sad. I did go back a 2nd time for root touch up though because I needed it & MI was just opening. When I asked her to blow dry the back with a little flip, she said something like "Nope not doing that!" I just said nothing and left. But that first visit, I should've known that something was wrong when she didn't want me to see the back of my hair until she curled it . She offered to curl it for free. I'm pretty sure it's because she was trying to hide the 2- layers that were cut without any blending. Just a regular service. I have a hair cut with multiple layers and I went to get blowout and style. I asked for a style in which all the layers are done separately so you get volume and this very dynamic and retro look that give you volume and let some of the tips of the shorter layers facing inside and the longer ones facing inside. I showed pictures. I just got a regular Bob, where you can't see any layers on my cut. I asked to fix it and they did the layer closer to the face only. It wasn't what I wanted and there was not more time to fix. They used some product to smooth the hair, but it wasn't long lasting. My hair looked freeze a few hours later. I got a cut and color after moving into the area. Cecilia does the best work in the shop (maybe I should have researched a bit before I sat in a different chair). My cut and color were ok/ nothing to write home about but they were accommodating and affordable. It was decent/ just not exactly the color that I wanted. Since I am unable to respond to individual reviews, I would like to tell those people who are complaining they received haircuts they were not happy with that the stylists at Untamed Salon will do whatever it takes to make it right. They treat their clients like family and will always make any revision you request (as long as it is within a week or so). My stylist is Alicia and she cares very much for her clients. Alicia always goes "the extra mile" to make her clients happy with their hair. If you post negative comments without giving them the chance to correct a problem to your satisfaction than that is on you. Wasted nearly $200 here. My cut looks nothing like the picture I showed or what we discussed. I understand that it's not going to match exactly and it's on me for not speaking up before I left but I just wanted to get out of there. I asked for a deep red color (and, again, showed a picture of the specific color) but wound up with hot pink - luckily, I'm ok with this shade but I know others would be upset if this happened to them, so beware. When I got home, I found spots of hair she had missed with the dye (they were yellow/bleached, not my natural color, obviously missed). I've got sections of hair that should be the same length on each side, and looked fine when she styled it, but that are actually off by several inches (when she specifically said she was cutting it so that it would "look good no matter where you part it"). Instead of framing my face symmetrically, one side is much higher than the other. I had high hopes coming in here thanks to all the other glowing reviews but now I'm stuck with whatever mess this stylist created because I refuse to go back for another hack job disguised as a correction. I can live with a longer cut than I had asked for but I could have done a better job with a box dye and my own kitchen scissors - at least I wouldn't have splotchy color and mismatched sides - and I could blame my own mistakes on my not being a professional, unlike the stylist I had. read more

Updated review: I went to this salon on Wednesday and had an incredibly bad experience. However, I called to see if I could come back in and they scheduled me immediately, and for free. Alicia cut my hair and did an incredible job, and I've rarely been as happy with a haircut as I am with this one! I'll definitely come back in to see Alicia. read more

Cecilia did a great job coloring my hair. I had some grown out highlights that were done pretty poorly (elsewhere) and had a few patches of odd colors. I'm always nervous trying a new salon, but this went perfectly and the price was reasonable. Also, highlights sometimes can take FOREVER, but she clearly knows what she's doing because she got through it reasonably quickly. read more

Lauren did an amazing job fixing my orange brassy raggedy hair. I seriously cannot brag enough about how great of a job she did. Not only does my hair actually feel healthier now (despite getting a full head of highlights) but I love that the orange brassiness is completely gone and how natural my new color and highlights look. Since I have been locked in confinment due to our unreasonabel governors "stay-home-stay-safe" order my hair didn't get it. I have blonde hightlites that will not stay blonde no matter what I did. As soon as Ohio (love) opened up I was on the phone and the reviews from Yelp really helped me choose this salon. Lorraine did a great job matching my old faded hair and brought it back to life. I came in here a few months ago for a pixie cut. Well, I ended up looking like a fucking guy!!! This place is NOTHING BUT A CHOP SHOP!! I've had pixie cuts in the past, and NEVER had the issue that I had here!! Spent 70$ for the worse haircut EVER!!! Worse part was the lady FORCED me to pay. I tried to get the money bck from my bank, and that even fell through! Don't go here!! Go elsewhere! I knw I will be. I NEVER had as bad of a haircut in my life!! Don't know why this place has so many high ratings! That's why I suggested this place to my mom, only to be terribly disappointed. My mom received a TERRIBLE haircut. It's longer on the top and the back is blunt-cut short in layers that stick out. It doesn't blend in at all & I feel terrible that I relied upon the high ratings for this place in booking her appointment. One of the owners did her hair. My mom is upset about her hair & is waiting for it to grow out. I have to say she's not exaggerating. It's the worst haircut I've seen on her. I moved from Indiana to Ohio in October and have tried out a couple different places with no luck most places do not listen to what you want and can't seem to cut hair evenly... so thought I would give this place a try even though some of the reviews weren't the greatest... however I have found my go to salon and would highly recommend it!! The best thing about this place though is that you actually get in at the time your appointment is set for (I've gone to places where I've had to wait up to an hour after my scheduled time). I recently relocated to Toledo and left my hair stylist that I had trusted for years to cut my hair and I had been reluctant on finding a new one. Took a chance and scheduled a cut with Alicia. I could not be happier with how my hair turned out. She listened to what I wanted and what another stylist had done to my hair and she was able to fix what another stylist had done wrong. I came in for the first time yesterday after experiencing being literally ignored at my friend's salon. Even though we gave them no notice, they let us walk in and get cuts right away. I wasn't sure what I wanted - maybe a trim? But the woman got really excited and told me about how she thought she could cut my hair so it would look a little better and asked me if I wanted to try it. I did and really like the shape of my new haircut. I haven't ever really had a style but she noticed that it needed something else and was honest enough but gentle in telling me how she could really improve my look. I really also thought this salon was really cute and modern inside. Cuts were also pretty cheap too! I love it and we'll probably both be back. The only reason I can't offer a 5 star review is because although the girls were friendly, it was a little unprofessional and uncomfortable to be sitting amongst the drama and gossip of other customers. I am new to this area and have needed a haircut for a while now so after some searching I found Untamed Salon. The reviews were good so I figured I would give it a chance. I was able to call in for an appointment and they were able to fit me in within a week. All good so far. I told the stylist that I just wanted a trim and she did listen, I got less than an inch cut off, exactly what I wanted. After my hair washing the stylist didn't ask me how I parted or usually styled my hair she just started going cutting. Okay, not the biggest deal, i guess. Part way through my cut her coworker was in the break room and they got very chatty and this must have distracted from her actually cutting my hair in a straight line. When i got home I looked in the mirror at my ends they they were visibly jagged! Her coworker also had a had half of a cigarette sitting in the break room because my stylist asked me, while blow drying my hair, if I smelled 'something burning'. She asked her coworker who then claimed the cigarette. On this particular day I was the only client in the salon and I went in well before they closed. It was also 25 degrees outside so I was very confused when she didn't blow dry my hair all the way. By this point I just wanted her to stop touching my head so I let it go, but who actually lets someone walk outside with wet hair when it's cold enough to snow?! When I got home I spent about 45 minutes in the bathroom fixing my hair and I am NEVER going back to this place. How are all these other reviews for this place so good? Also while I was there the stylist was talking about other clients haircuts and being unsure if they would look good as she was doing their hair! Very unprofessional and not something I want to hear while someone is doing my hair! Luckily I asked for a straight forward cut and nothing more complicated or else this could have easily turned into a disaster instead of just a waste of time and money. read more

I came here for the first time based on the good reviews it received. I went for a cut and partial highlight. While, the cut was okay, the color is nothing like what I asked for. My hair is now yellow up to my ears and I am going to need to pay more money to have it fixed. The ladies were all very nice so I feel bad complaining, but my hair looks really bad. I really like this salon. I have had my hair highlighted twice, a couple of cuts as well as having my brows shaped/waxed. The only reason I am giving them a 4 instead of 5 stars is because the bright bit of color I had put in my daughters hair washed out in two days. I'm not sure if it's because they didn't bleach her hair first or if they used a bad batch of dye because my red low lights are still visible months later. Good pricing, clean salon, kind employees. Received a groupon as a gift for a facial. First visit cancelled by salon, second visit didn't have the product needed (and hairstylist staff incredibly rude - loudly discussing their clients). Rescheduled visit cancelled by salon....haven't heard from them since! Save your money...there is a reason salons turn to groupon to sell themselves. I have incredibly fine, curly hair and it has taken me years to find the right hair stylist for me. My former stylist was great, but incredibly expensive (especially for a college student like myself), so I looked into a new stylist in the Toledo area and found that Untamed had rave reviews. I called around 9:30am and I got set up with an appt. at 2:30pm that afternoon with Lauren. The entire staff including lauren was incredibly personable and friendly and lauren really took into consideration how I wanted my hair cut and it turned out better than expected, and for only $25! This was my first and last time I will be going to untamed salon! My stylist(Cecelia) was almost 25 minutes late due to an accident so she said should of been an omen to me,but the other stylist stated she had called her at the time of my arrival.I wanted a cut and some highlights.My hair is very fine and I am very particular.The color is horrible as she probably left me under the dryer for probably 30 minutes and then rushed through the cut and hardly well did NOTHING to style it,just put some product on the crown of my head and then charged me $85.00!!! I came home and put a hat on and now I will have to wait at least a couple of days before I can strip it which ruins your hair but I am sure it will look better then it is now!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope she enjoyed her lunch while I was sitting under the dryer with the lights off.I will not come back for them to try to fix it,dont to give her a second chance.NO THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL says they offer you coffee and a magazine REALLY I must of been at a different salon because they offered me nothing to drink and I was in the dark as I was under the dryer,turned the light on maybe 5 minutes before I got shampooed. read more

I've had two experiences with this salon recently and have decided not to go back. The main problem I had with both persons who worked on me was that they were too focused on talking with me, and other staff members during my visit. I would like to encourage this salon to understand that some people come there to relax and have a quiet, and private experience with a stylist or manicurist (I have tried both there). I do feel that my manicure and highlights would have looked much better if the employees would have focused more on what they were doing, and less on what they were saying. As a women, I do love some good gossip and want a friendly atmosphere, but once the initial "how is your week going" is over, I would appreciate them to quietly get down to business. read more
