I thought it was very sweet and I honestly did feel some relief knowing someone cared so much. When it came the appts I got to know all the midwives , and I liked that part too. A variety of personalities, and I looked forward to my appts. And seeing them. My labor was fast and since it was my first i felt unprepared- I barely made it to cleburne hospital/ bc my insurance wouldn't cover the birthing center, I had to have my son there. They were waiting on me when i arrived, and so sweet even tho I was loud and a little hysterical,( like I said , happened really fast). They were so soft spoken/ the additional nurses were amazing. My son was born 4 hours after my water broke/ healthy and I was up walking around and felt great immediately, they checked on me through the night, and in the morning another mid wife checked on me- Carla and hope . My post pregnancy appts they were very nice and during my 4 month one, I came in feel crummy and Shannon even noticed a nodule on my thyroid at my visit/ she was very thorough, I am now seeing a endocrinologist for them, thanks Shannon! She literally saved my life! I found out I have an autoimmune disease, and am now getting treatment. I wish these ladies the best , they are passionate about what they do, and sincere with trying to make you comfortable and feel welcome! I understand nobody is perfect, and nobody's experience can be perfect, my expectations were high, and we're definitely exceeded! Thank you ladies! Would recommend them to anyone!

Then when they flat out ignored my test results and shamed some of my personal decisions, I decided to find a care provider that my husband and I wouldn't have to fight with during labor. And boy did I. It was night and day. Ashley was on my team, she is insanely intelligent and knowledgeable, she actually made me feel relaxed about labor, she had lots of information about everything when I needed it but ultimately supported me making my own decisions. I felt like if something went wrong during labor, I could actually trust her to put my and my baby's health first before anything else. Baby girl delivered 100% naturally, 10 lbs 4.4 oz, 22 inches long, and a giant head (92nd percentile I believe). No stitches. Quick postpartum recovery. And when baby girl's shoulder got stuck, Ashley knew exactly how to move baby and I to get her out with no injury to anyone. I was able to walk out and go home 3.5 hours after delivery... talk about non-traumatic. I know that would have been a different story if I stayed at the hospital. I'll always be so thankful for Ashley and her sweet assistant. Her birthing center is so lovely too. The drive over there puts me in a good mood because of how serene it is. The center itself is so clean and private and comfortable. It felt like heaven compared to the discomfort I felt at the hospital. Bonus that for postpartum visits I don't have to bring my newborn around a ton of people at a hospital. Thank you Ashley!!!

I loved that I was given the opportunity to listen to my own body and avoid invasive procedures during prenatal visits. I labored at the birthing center from 6:30pm and 8.5 hours later my daughter came. This was a longer active labor than intended, but through each obstacle Joy and Christina remained patient, calm, and knew exactly what to do to deliver my daughter safely. My family who were previously nervous that I wasn't seeing and OB or delivering at a hospital, (I'm 4'8", 100lbs pre pregnancy) and after experiencing my birth they absolutely loved being able to be apart of something so beautiful. Cheryl cared about me as a whole person, I never felt rushed (most appointments were 30-60 minutes). I had to bring older siblings to most appointments and she made sure that they were included. I really appreciate that my midwife and the birth center didn't have lists of routine interventions. I was allowed to make my own decisions about my care and what tests/interventions I wanted to have. I had a peaceful and amazing water birth at the birth center. Even if I had needed to transfer, it would have been worth the money just to have my midwife's support in the hospital. I cannot recommend Gentle Beginnings more highly.
