Unfortunately, I have to give this store 1 star when I would like to have said 5. I have been a…read moreclient for 20 years at this store and have dealt with many lovely woman and men over the years, but unfortunately I can longer accept the arrogance and ego of the current manager, Frank. He treats his customers and staff with same dismissive matter of fact tone that doesn't belong in a retail customer service/ sales and managerial role. Today I came into the store to ask for a discount bc a fabric that I had ordered 2 months ago had a subtle imperfection through the entire role. That went unnoticed until after my upholsterer had cut into it. I brought the remaining white fabric to show him. He looked at it and then me and said smugly "I cant take it back and nothing I can do to help you". When I proceeded to challenge him, he in turn "you are supposed to inspect all fabrics before it's is cut into...". All of which I expected as their standard response into policy. What I am upset about was his tone and his arrogance in shamining me. He had a he ability to respond positively and even offer me some discount on future (btw, which he did after I told him I'm never shopping here again and will be reviewing store and him in every social media and review site possible). Frank, you manage a retail store which customer service should matter. Your demeanor is arrogant and condescending always. Your reputation precedes you and as far as I concerned earned. To the other lovely saleswoman, I am sorry for disruption this morning and work hard to compensate for your manager, Frank. Calico corporate sales, look into this review. He has this reputation in our community and many people like myself would rather drive to Natick or order from smaller designers or retail stores UPDATE! I knew from 20 years as a client that Calico corporate would respond with urgency and respectfully. Donna, Regional Manager, called me within 24 hours of this post and thoughtfully listened to my "drama" with Frank, Manager from Hanover MA store. Donna immediately apologized for unfortunate behavior of one her employees and immediately offered to remedy my initial simple request. I am happy to post I received exceptional service from Natick MA store manager, Deb! Both Deb and Donna went above and beyond to accommodate me and provide a very generous discount to my current order. Exceptional customer service from Deb and Donna in Natick MA Calico!! Thank you, ladies ...

Installation was over $300.00 which I thought was excessive and exorbitant!!! I went to two other reputable local merchants, purchased from one, and in both cases the install charge was under 100.00. I contacted the Calico Corners website, inquired about the install fee, and have yet to get a response even though the site says a response in approx 24 hours. Still waiting!!!!!!!

Visited 4/28 with a friend, friend was indulging me because I always need to find a plant store,…read moreeven in a touristy spot such as Salem. Plants are a bit pricy but that's to be expected. Still found myself a Hoya in 2" pot for $5ish and splurged on a tiny air plant in a tiny ceramic pot for $15 (ouch). But it was super cute and I decided to treat myself as a souvenir. Selection is ok, the store is pretty tiny. CS is decent. Eg almost non-existent but no one followed me or my friend (both not Caucasian) around either.

Very nicely decorated store with a bright and airy feel to it. Tons of plant options and earthy…read moretype decor items to complement them. I'm not a plant lover, but my friend is and really wanted to check it out, and I liked their unique look from the outside that made it different than the touristy spots all around Salem that I was getting a little sick of. I liked their selection of books and home decor. I loved a crystal tree they had and purchased it for a new display area I'm working on at home. I'd enjoyed my shopping experience so far and was excited about my purchase, but the staff member that rang me up was notably unfriendly. He ignored me for almost a full minute, continuing what looked like a craft project, before finally acknowledging me and directing me to the appropriate checkout station (he was standing squarely between two so I couldn't tell where to go). He ignored my polite attempts at small talk and seemed to rush the entire transaction so I would go away as soon as possible. I'd rate the store higher but was really off put by how I was treated, and other reviews note a similar attitude...I was starting to think I'd read into it, but this is clearly a trend. No employees greeted us or asked if we needed any help the entire time we browsed, in stark contrast to every other boutique I visited that day going above and beyond to make me feel welcome in their shop. Nice selection of items and pretty to look at, but be prepared for a dose of attitude.

Yes, you'll pay more for their paint than you would at say, Home Depot but it is so worth it…read more Don't believe me? Then try it for yourself! Go to Home Depot and show the guy behing the paint counter a swatch of your granite countertop and ask him what color he would recommend considering you have cherry cabinetry. Then, when he's done laughing at you, go to Waters & Brown and show your granite swatch to Sam and Lauren (I think her name is.) That's what I did and they immediately both thought of the same color, Quahog. So much darker than I ever wanted to go but wow, just the right color. Then Sam suggested Oxygen (a pale blue) for the ceiling and a color called America's Cup for the trim. The America's Cup (an off white) threw my husband into fits of worry. Will it be too yellow? Will it look dirty and dingy? Sam, promised it wouldn't and explained why . . . and he was right. So right, that my husband went back and asked him what color we should paint the adjoining hall, Sam made a recommendation and my husband walked out with that color paint. This is the same husband who would gladly spend months deliberating every decision, no matter how minute!!! So it is no exaggeration when I say that Sam may have single-handedly saved my marriage, or perhaps my husband's life because I was ready to either kill or divorce him. So as we decorate our entire home over, all I can say is thank God for Waters and Brown, and thank God for Sam!!!!
