This place is hands and paws down - amazing! It is the best place to take your pups, no matter the weather. We especially love to visit in the winter, when our pooch gets cabin fever. The large concrete floor play space is great for a large number of dogs and very easy to clean up pet messes. The staff that monitor the dogs is our favorite part to ensure all pups safety. Parents should also be watching their four-leggeds but it's nice to have a neutral party to deescalate. This place has decent food but I would stick with drinks and apps. My burger was over the top salty and would not order again. You must register your pet and show proof of required vaccines prior to entry! They offer day or annual passes. 4.5/5 I've been here three times now I believe and my ladies always have a fun time. I usually go with work folks or for a work function and this past time the place was closed down for us so it was a smaller crowd which was great (did my dog still poop on the floor? yes). Staff this time were way more involved than I'd ever seen them and some of their interactions didn't seem safe, I wonder what their training is (there was a dog that was getting a little too aggressive and the employees would grab dogs around their necks and pull them away, eek). This time I tried their food for the first time, the waffle fries were phenomenal! The black bean burgers were pretty good too. Plenty of drinks to choose from and staff are so friendly. What a cool concept! Dogs, people, and good staff! And a surprising great selection of quality drinks and food! Highly recommend. FOOD: surprisingly good with hand breaded chicken, and other options. Including salads, sides, and sandwiches. I'm impressed with the range, value, and quality of their options! AMBIANCE: this is a great setup with ample room. Dogs can run freely and people can socialize. It's not too loud either! STAFF: highly skilled. They took care of all situations with the dogs and were constantly patrolling and very attentive. Love love love this indoor doggy park and also food and dranks for the humans! Our rescue has a lot of energy and lovesss to play with other dogs. Because of that energy she doesn't do well in large parks (aka doesn't stick next to us and just takes off). So we were looking for an enclosed smaller space for her to socialize. We checked out unleashed hounds and hops for the first time and it was amazing! It was a Sunday around 10:45 - not too busy per the staff. Parking is plentiful across the street. I really appreciated the staff in the off-leash area! They really watch and patrol all doggy play and cool them down if it gets too ramped up. They provide drinking water for the dogs and mops to clean up any accidents. There is a small outside area that's gated so the dogs can outside to relieve themselves. (Even though many dogs were lifting their leg inside). You can also order food and drinks to enjoy while the pup plays. There are a few TVs and they have the Vikings on! Such a fun social atmosphere for owners and the dogs! read more

We stopped into Unleashed Hound & Hop for a beer on a sweaty Sunday morning for some respite from shopping at the Minneapolis Farmers' Market (see pictures). Unleashed Hound & Hop is dog-free during the hours of the Farmers' Market (service dogs only). All other business times they have indoor/outdoor areas for dogs to play and run. Dogs must have their people supervising. Most customers were enjoying the patio, but we found our way inside and enjoyed the air conditioning. The facility is dog and beer themed, including the hand washing area. The tall walls were decorated with beer signs and paintings of dogs. The bathrooms are inclusive for all humans like the hound areas are for hounds. They have a great beer selection, and I tried two ales. Glitter Crash, a blond ale, was light and fruity with tropical notes--a good summer drink. And the golden ale Banshee Cutter is a coffee beer which is rare for an ale rather than a dark, but the beer taste was well balanced with the coffee and went down nice. We left when they opened for regular business hours but plan to return to try their menu, which appeared to be standard bar fare but with a few vegan selections including a burger and loaded tots. If you're looking for a place for doggy playdates and to spend time with family and friends, or make new friends, this is the place for you. Unleashed Hound & Hop also host a dog-themed annual event called Lolla-Paw-Looza on the first Saturday in October so mark your calendar and take your four-legged best friend to the fête. read more

We always feel bad leaving our pup at home when we go out, so we found a spot we could bring him with!! Lots of parking right next to this spot, as long as there isn't a Farmer's Market going on! Not much of a looker from the outside, but the inside and patio are lovely! You pay an entry fee for each dog and then you have free reign of the facility! There is staff outside and inside that handle most of the clean-up and supervising while you eat/drink! The food and drink are way better than expected! Draft and can selection of alcohol and alcohol-free choices with lots of local brews! Food was typical bar food, but we really enjoyed the fish tacos and the hot dog! The cheese curds were the real star, LOVED the harissa ketchup! Absolutely will be back! read more

What a PAW-SOME place to bring your pup! If you have a dog that loves other dogs, this is your place. For $9 you get a 90 minute play session. I was very nervous as a first-timer knowing it is completely off leash. Please ensure your dog has been trained/socialized prior to trying this out. I went on a Saturday and there were 30ish dogs all in the play area. All sizes and breeds! There is a separate area for food and drink. I was preoccupied and didn't get to try this out. Next time! Huge shoutout to the staff here!! They are very friendly and helpful. In the play area they have several staff members on alert for any rough play, cleaning, ect. We showed up on Tuesday night Aug 12th, during a time when this company's website clearly showed them as OPEN! We live 40 minutes away so were dismayed & disappointed when we arrived at 6:30 pm and all the lights were out and door locked, with no signage or explanation on the door as-to-why. When I called tonight to inquire about it, the lady who answered the phone was nastier than visceral belly fat--just completely disrespectful! Stay away from this place. Met a friend here last night. The staff were friendly & helpful. A couple of dogs had accidents in the play area & immediately the staff were right there to clean it up! I liked that they had several good craft beer offerings to choose from. Honestly the only thing that bothered me about my visit and is such a MAJOR pet peeve is.... seriously, no purse hooks in the bathrrom?! Unfortunately this is quite common..but just irritating. All the staff were super friendly and attentive! I noticed they were quick to break up any tiffs between dogs and constantly cleaning the play areas. Unfortunately, we visited during a heat advisory so the back patio was closed but we're excited to come back again! I liked that there was a good mix of small and large dogs. Went with my coworkers for a "dog happy hour" after work and it was our favorite happy hour we've had! The drink selection was good and the patio was great for hanging out and watching the dogs run around. This is such a cool gem! Maybe we're behind the times but this is our first experience of a dog park combined with a restaurant/bar and we can't get enough! We have been a handful of times now and finally made it to our breed specific night last night for the Frenchie evening! The customer service here is phenomenal, whoever the gentleman is that was working outside last night is one of the best parts of the place. We have bumped into him several times and he makes us feel incredibly welcome. He's also very knowledgeable on dogs and you can tell the local dogs love him! Additionally, the property is so gorgeous, the back patio is the perfect place to let your dog roam safely while enjoying some dinner and a drink. Although I prefer liquor, the have a great beer and wine list that always leaves me satisfied and is incredibly reasonably priced ($5.50-$8 for basic beers that we had). The food is reasonable as well ($14-$18 for a lot of their sandwiches) and our order always comes out way faster than we expect it too and is clearly cooked to order which we appreciate! We had the seasonal pork chop sandwich with apple slaw this visit and really enjoyed it (around $15) - we would definitely recommend this and the burger with the jalapeños as some as our favorites. Entry fee per one dog ($10) is a very reasonable price to enjoy their facilities and help keep this place alive. My dog and I LOVE going to unleashed! It's fun for both dogs and their human friends. I have a 1 year old goldendoodle who has an endless amount of energy. Unleashed is the perfect place to grab a beer with another dog parent and let the pups play! They have a good selection of beers on tap, and sandwiches and appetizers too. Watch out for doggy counter surfers though- one ended up snatching a corn dog off my plate! He was super cute though so I wasn't mad. In the summer they open up their beautiful fenced in patio. They do have a parking lot which is super convenient since it's Downtown. 5 stars for calming my crazy pup down and letting mom have a drink with friends! read more

We can't say enough good things about unleashed. We went here nearly 10 months ago to socialize our rescue dog Bart (a cattle dog husky mix) and he was not confident at all and so scared. Now he is a whole new dog and we can truly only thank Unleashed for that - the staff, atmosphere, space and more all allowed him to open up, explore, and socialize. It doesn't hurt that us dog parents can grab a bite to eat or drink. The employees are FABULOUS! Literally not one I don't trust fully! Anna is always so sweet and gentle with my pups I don't know names but so many more we adore and trust supervising our pups while they explore. 10/10 for dog experience, 10/10 for food and drinks and 10/10 overall. This place just opened and it's a bit difficult to review as it's both an indoor off-leash dog park and a counter service restaurant. I'll tackle each separately. I'll start with the dog park. This was really nice, with numerous employees on hand and plenty of space. It was $7 per dog, and there are packages that bring that price down. Our corgi had a lot of fun, and there are ample standing tables where owners can put their stuff, eat, and drink while watching their pooches. On the restaurant side the main thing they serve are hot dogs. I had a "Good Dog" which was balsamic, goat cheese, and arugula while my partner had a Chicago dog. Both were tasty, with a toasty bun. My only qualm was the price - these are 6" hot dogs sold a la carte for $6-8 apiece. Fries or tots will set you back another $2.50. A basket of cheese curds is over $10. Portions are not very big. A meal here is going to be hot dogs and fries and will set you back $15 without even considering a drink, and that's after effectively paying a cover to get in. They had nine beers and one cider on tap, and $5-7 will get you about 10oz. I would be happy to come back to let my dog play, but the food, while good, is way too pricey for what you get. It almost feels like a movie theater - you've paid for your ticket, they know they've got you for an hour or so and can charge whatever they want. read more

Living in MN can be brutal in the winter when you're a dog owner.....especially with a breed that hates the cold! I absolutely love that we can bring our Boston Terrier, Archie, here to burn off some pent up energy. They have an awesome drink selection, the food looks incredible (I haven't tried it yet) and there are so many doggies of all shapes and sizes running around having fun. I wouldn't bring my human children just because they'd probably be bored. But I will absolutely be back here with my fur baby. We absolutely love Unleashed Hounds and Hops! They have spacious indoor and outdoor spaces for dogs to run around and serve a variety of beers, meals, and snacks. I love the veggie burger and their tater tots are amazing. A meal and drink will run you around $15 plus the fee for dogs to get in. We have the annual pass which evens out after 32 visits. We don't go much in the winter as my dog gets nervous with the noise and enclosed space of other dogs barking, but you can find us at Unleashed at least once a week in the warmer months! We've been bringing our dogs to Hops and Hounds for several years. Always a great experience! However, on this particular day, as we were waiting for staff to update their vaccination records ( which had been submitted several days in advance and should have been entered) a pet owner entered with 2 aggressive dogs, barking, growling and showing teeth. They were allowed into the park without even checking in at the desk. When I voiced concern, I was told "we know the dogs, they have leash anxiety". The aggression continued after we entered which was upsetting to our dogs. WE WERE THE ONES ASKED TO LEAVE!!! We were given a refund along with free passes which we will probably never use after such a disappointing experience. read more

We have gone here several times but will never return. Our dog was viciously attacked by another dog and the staff did nothing about it. I went up to Rae and Gavin (workers) for help and they refused to make the other dog leave even though everyone saw it happen. The owner also expressed that her dog is aggressive and yet she stayed. I never got an apology. Instead, I was faced with an eye roll and attitude by Rae. Eventually they said my dog can be locked into a small fenced in area by himself. My dog did nothing wrong and was attacked twice by the same dog with multiple witnesses and he has to be in a fenced in area alone?!?! What a joke!!! Also for Rae, I was trying to talk to her and she actually walked away from me. She should be fired to say the least. I then asked to speak to the owner, it was Kevin I think, and he still didn't apologize or do anything to make things right. We wanted our money back since we had only been there for about ten minutes and that was a a hassle in itself. We ended up getting a coupon that we will never use. Things have really gone downhill here. The dogs are out of control, the smell of urine is strong, the workers just talk to each other instead of actually watching the dogs, and they are clearly just worried about liability rather than the customer experience. I've attached pictures of the aggressive dog since nothing was done and I'd hate for someone else's innocent dog to get attacked. Also, the workers that did nothing. ****-Since it won't let me respond to Kevin's comment, I'll add it here. No, actually Rae did just roll her eyes and walk away from me. That's when I went to the front desk worker and she's the one that got you actually. In addition, no one told us the back wasn't monitored by your lazy workers until AFTER the incident happened. I enjoy supporting local businesses and I like the concept of having an indoor dog park that serves food and drinks. The staff is mostly friendly, but I'm disappointed with how Kevin, one of the co-founders, treated my dog here. We don't plan to come back, and unfortunately, I won't be recommending this spot. It's an indoor dog park -- dogs play, they wrestle, sometimes they rough-house and then they move on. My dog LOVES doggy daycare, she's been going for months. She loves outdoor dog parks, and she plays with neighbor dogs regularly. But at Unleashed Hounds and Hops, a few women there told me they noticed Kevin singling out my dog and aggressively pushing her around. They said, "He keeps grabbing your dog. Must be breed discrimination." Before I could respond, Kevin walked over and we were told to leave in front of everyone. He said it's because my dog was growling at incoming dogs. Of course, private businesses can create their own rules. But if there's an issue with my dog, it's still unprofessional to handle it in a very public and humiliating way. His practice didn't show respect to customers, especially when dogs will play as dogs do and behavior can be corrected. It doesn't mean we should have been targeted. My dog isn't dangerous. I love how she's energetic, always with her tail wagging and her tongue flopping out. At 30 pounds, she's hardly threatening. While I hope this business will have better days than what we witnessed, I hope they evaluate their own prejudices and treat dogs and dog parents with equal respect. Good business practices mean prioritizing customer service and valuing customers. For such a good concept, I would hate to see management continue to unprofessionally target some dogs over others. read more

My dog and I came here this past weekend to try out the new indoor dog park. I'm surprised it took Minneapolis this long to get one! The dog park itself is very nice, especially in the cold of winter when you would rather not go stand outside or worry about your dog's paws getting cold. The park is a concrete space with a few standing tables and chairs scattered throughout. There is a small dog area, but I believe this will only be closed off if there's enough interest from small dog owners. The park does have "rufferees" who patrol and make sure no dogs are causing drama. I was a little disappointed by the hour time limit that we were given. After the hour was up, a rufferee came by and told us it was time to leave. That was disappointing as I still had some beer to drink and wanted to stay longer than 1 hour since it was $7 to get in. Not the best strategy in my opinion. The bar is located behind a wall of glass and provides a quieter viewing place of the dogs. Each beer hovers around $5. I had the gold lager, which had a little bit more taste than a McGolden. The size was fine for the price. I didn't buy food, but it seemed a bit on the pricier side - so I'll probably continue to forego that in the future. The private parking lot is very small, so expect to find street parking. read more

Unleashed is a genius business concept. What happens when you wanna exercise or socialize your dog off leash, but also want to enjoy a beer with friends? You go to Unleashed! Located right by the Minneapolis Farmers Market, Unleashed has lots of parking options as well as indoor/outdoor play spots for pups. For less than $10 you pay a "cover charge" for your dog to get in (NOTE: you must make a reservation for your dog prior to entry). The outdoor space is super nice and green with a variety of spots to sit back with a beer and watch your dog play. My husband is usually nervous to bring our pup to a regular dog park because there isn't a ton of owner accountability. However, Unleashed does a great job making sure dogs get along because they hire dog wranglers/watchers. The staff is so sweet and attentive (ex: they memorize the dogs' name and personalities)! While I am a BIG fan of Unleashed, I do have two recommendations for them: 1.) Do not allow children under the age of 12 in. I have seen way too many parents bring infants, toddlers or dog shy kids into Unleashed, and not that it ends badly but it's not a positive experience for the kids or dogs. What are parents thinking letting their toddler run around in an off leash dog park with fries in their hands?! Asking for trouble if you ask me. 2.) Create a food tent like you would a beer garden. The food is pretty tasty at Unleashed (loaded fries are awesome), but food always seems to be triggering point for many dogs to become aggressive or resource driven. I've also seen less well behaved dogs jump on strangers tables to get food! To avoid this, Unleashed should create a fenced off food space that allows owners to still supervise their dog but be away from the overall pack while they eat. Another idea would be to invest in high top tables as a way to deter dogs from begging or jumping for people's food. read more

We had a great first experience here. We came on a cold Sunday afternoon, and the place was so busy that they were sold out of reservations and turning down walk ins. (I took it as a good sign that they were actually willing to turn down ticket sales to ensure it didn't get too crowded!) I found it a little overwhelming at first. Since it was so cold outside, there were probably 20-30+ dogs in the roughly 10,000 square foot indoor area. That said, I was impressed that most owners seemed to be keeping a good eye on their dogs. Even better though, was the staff. My wife works in the animal field, and she immediately noticed how attentive and well-trained the staff was. They had 3-4 employees roaming the indoor play area who were silently on top of everything. These employees quickly cleaned up any accidents, and they also kept a keen eye on the dogs - allowing them plenty of room to play but also discretely stepping in to give problem dogs a quick time out. I noticed a couple of negative reviews from frustrated owners who felt their dog was "singled out" by staff. I suspect these are from overly defensive owners who don't realize just how disruptive their dogs really are. Because from what we saw, the staff here is very well trained and did a fantastic job ensuring a fun, safe environment for everyone. We didn't sample any of the food, but enjoyed the nice selection of craft beer. A really cool concept and an even better execution! We'll definitely visit again! read more
