It does travel around the Country from time to time and if you get a chance it is a must see circus. They have great acts from all over the world. They have performers you will not see elsewhere. They are all so talented. It is better than Cirque by a long shot. This is a real circus with a tent and it stays and then goes. You can get your tickets on line. And no, they don't abuse animals. They did have one horse act which was very tame. Other than that, no animals, just talented humans. It is uplifting and caring. The MC will talk to you and make the whole crowd feel welcome and everyone is welcome. The seats are as comfortable as you are going to get at a tent show, so get over that. This was my first time at a Universoul Circus show and I was truly impressed. I bought tickets online a few days in advance at $60 a piece for floor level seating. Day of parking was simple, check in was quick, and seating was easy and self explanatory. The show started right on time, lasted about 2.5hrs, and kept our attention from beginning to end. I personally prefer the closer seats that we had but there wasn't really a bad seat in the tent as some of the acts come into the stands from time to time to interact with the audience members who are seated farther back. There were no animals used whatsoever during the show, just amazing stunts, acrobatic performances, and dances performed by a group of talented diverse individuals from around the world! There were snacks offered for purchase during the show but no real food. The prices were what you'd expect at a circus($10 cotton candy, $4 water, $10 popcorn, etc). The Universoul Circus comes to Atlanta a couple of times per year at different locations (Gwinnett, Atlantic Station, and the old Turner Field lot). I'll definitely be going again! read more

Took the family to the Saturday matinee show. I was incredibly surprised. Best live family entertainment event of the year. Excellent performances by a very diverse group of entertainers . All the boxes were checked: clean restrooms, not a bad seat in the house, audience was engaged , easy parking and two minute face painting. Food cost average. My kids enjoy UniverSoul over the others because it's a "soul" circus. Not just for African Americans but all ethnicities with performers from all over the world! It kept us on our toes. Now note this is not a circus of many exotic animals from around the world. So if this is what you're looking for this isn't it. I am a long time customer of the Universoul Circus. I've bought my kids to this circus, and now I bought my grandkids. I have to say I was disappointed... The performers in the show were good. Though they shortened the show a little. The worst part for me was at the end my family and I wanted to take pictures. On the way out (outside the performance tent) ppl were aggressively pushed out by security. I used the porta-potty and when I came out, I noticed many guards surrounding ppl who were washing their hands. They jokingly said, "yah got to hurry up!" There are one hr intervals between shows, so I understand there's a clean up time.. Though we weren't in the area where anyone performed. We weren't able to take pictures without being hassled. Even to the point as we were walking out the the manager haggled me. When I said, "you shouldn't be so aggressive with the customers." He sarcastically said, "Oh well give us a bad review!" I challenged him to that and took his picture. This was all in a matter of 10 minutes, at the end of the show. The stadium was half empty, so the energy wasn't the same as before. Then with being pushed out for doing normal things ppl do after a show was ridiculous. I truly hope they get their customer service and time management in order. UniverSoul Circus has their opening weekend and with that, offered ticket promotions for $17.50/ticket. At a price like that, it was an offer we couldn't refuse! Although shoutout to Ticketmaster, with their OUTRAGEOUS fees, the added fees were almost as much as the ticket itself! Getting to the venue is easy and there are plenty of options for parking for $10-15 (although some options slightly more sketchy than others). It was very easy to get parked and a quick walk inside. Security, or lack thereof, was very quick and easy to get through. No bag checks or anything. They offered snacks and drinks right at the front for sale, but no alcohol is sold. Just the basics....cotton candy, candy, funnel cakes, popcorn, etc. Pricing is definitely elevated but not over the top outrageous. What I loved was that it was a great mix of kids and adults, there's nothing worse than screaming kids all around! The seating was a little rickety but seemed to be plenty of space between seats as well as leg room. It seemed as though there wasn't a single bad seat in the house! Once the show started, we found it really hard to see anything that wasn't elevated a bit, as the ring around the stage was about 3-4 feet tall. So I would actually recommend getting a seat in the center, higher up. That way you can see down into the stage area and be more face forward. We were on the side which, for the most part, wasn't bad but sometimes they did tricks only facing forwards so we missed a few things. Overall the show was really entertaining. Lots of interaction, funny moments, great acrobatic tricks. I was smiling and laughing the whole time! Some acts were definitely more intriguing than others. But then at the end they started to do some employee call out/shoutout where they brought all of the employees on stage and called all 30+ of them by name.....which was a little weird and not the best way to end the show (it was honestly a total buzz kill), we ended up leaving (so hopefully we didn't miss any sort of show finale!) the show ran about 90 minutes total Overall I'd say this is worth one visit for a date night or to take the kids, if you can get a discounted ticket deal read more

Universoul Circus @ Gwinnett Place Mall, Duluth Ga. (Pros & Cons at the end) This is like the family reunion mixed with the backyard BBQ mixed with a Circus! First, let me say Universoul is off...the...chain! It is a fast-moving, laugh out loud fun-fest. The big top is intimate, I couldn't imagine a bad seat. That being said, we were in the t 2nd row, right side and because it IS intimate, at times I felt we were too close to see all of the action. Too much craning your head from side to side or looking straight up. Imagine you are watching a tennis match from close up. I recommend getting a seat in the second tier, as you will see all the action as well as the clowns, dancers, etc going on down the main walkway. We had to turn completely around to see them. The Show... It's separated into two acts, with a 15-minute intermission. What can I say, there are circus acts. I won't go into specifics except to say there are very few animal acts. There are zebra and camel act and an act with acrobatic dogs. Fairly tame. There are dancers, a strength act, a skating duo, high flying motorcycles, acrobats, trapeze artists, high-wire walking as well as bone-crunching contortionists, stilt walkers, audience participation games and others ... all bathed in old and new school Hip Hop and R &B classics. There are even some sing-a-longs to kids favorites. Kudos for having two ringmasters, a man and woman as well as Universoul vet "Zeke"! The Ringmasters kept it moving, fun, light and always PG rated. Great show for kids, but I wouldn't take extremely small children. The loud music and in-your-face frenetic clowns and Caribbean dancers might scare toddlers. Finally, shout out to the older couple with a young child who arrived 45 minutes late, sat in front of us (in the first row) and sat on their hands the entire performance! Listen, here is the deal. These performers were GOOD! Even if you didn't think so, you could see they were trying their best, nobody phoned it in. And they were 8 feet away from the front row. When they are looking for applause, you GIVE it. If you aren't feeling it, then politely. If you liked it, clap until your palms go numb. It's rude to do otherwise. This was a part atmosphere and these folks were certainly party poopers. TIPS: * Hawkers that come around selling items/food only accept cash, but you can go to the food service line to use a credit or debit card. * Pick a second-tier seat for a better overall view. * Arrive early to get (pay for) a camel ride. *Because it is essentially an open tent, it can get cool on your feet at evening shows (in March). Bring a jacket or a coverup. _________________________________________ Pros -All the performances were A+ -The big top is intimate. Performers were close enough to touch. -Audience participation games kept the show moving between setups. -Quick seating. -FREE parking @ Gwinnett Place Mall. We were able to park not more than 4 parking rows from the entrance fairly close to show time. -Music choices. Old school R&B, New R&B hits, all with no offensive language. Kids favorites, both old and new. Cons -Seating is very tight. You may want to bring a small stadium cushion. -Hard to see all the action if you sit up close. -Music was TOOOO loud. I think it got louder as the show went on. At one point, even my teenage daughters complained about how loud the music was. In other words DJ, you can take it down from 11 to about an 8. -Difficult to understand the ringmasters sometimes. This is a sound/acoustics problem and not an annunciation problem. Too much reverb in the microphone, too much base? I'm sure they will deal with it. -Super expensive food. OK, this is to be expected. $8 popcorn, etc. read more

Everything circus should be- Big, loud, shiny, crazy, wild, loud, exciting and sugar available at every turn. It is a little bit of Shriners show meets Baptist revival tent, but I didn't see any snakes or tiny cars, and when the horse act ended my five year old daughter screamed "that was AMAZING!" Which, I think, is a pretty good review. Oh, and I can't think of anything I enjoy more than licking the last bit of funnel cake sugar off my fingers as the lights go down, the music goes up and the ringmaster yells, "when I say Big Top, say Circus... Hadn't been to the UniverSoul Cicus in some years, so I was excited when a friend invited and treated my son and I. We attended at the National Harbor Plateau in Oxon Hill, MD. Things that I love about this circus: 1. It's geared towards and supports minority cultures with an emphasis on black culture. Let's face it - the way we view entertainment is unique and this circus brings the experience that most African Americans find enjoyable. 2. The talent is good. Lots of dancing and acrobatics, all of which are good. 3. Animals are always a hit at a circus - puppy show was super cute! 4. The dirt bike stunt show was pretty freakin awesome. 5. Crowd interaction is super cool and can be pretty hilarious. Loved how they let the crowd participate in a lot of the activities. 6. The kids pledge at the end - loved it! Given the recent events in the country with race relations, I thought it was excellent to express that everyone is unique and that they need to grow up accepting people for who they are. Basically, love one another. So good! 7. Really cool magic tricks! Things that can be improved upon: 1. Nickel and diming - charges for everything....high charges. Thank God my son is only 1 so he doesn't need all of the junk. 2. The photo ops during the show are a little annoying. Cool experience, but dude, you're walking over me taking pictures during the show. 3. A lot of gyrating. Again, glad my son is so young, but I'm not sure what I'll do when he gets older. There's a ton of booty shaking going on that won't be conducive to how we want to teach him to behave as a young man, but that's on me to teach him, not necessarily the circus. 4. Maybe it's for protection but the tigers were only flashed in a cage for 2 seconds and then rolled away. It's possible that recent accidents with children and animals have prevented them from being more involved in the show, but of course I don't know that for sure. This is one of the best circuses in my opinion. I love it because it's so diverse and each experience is different. There were performers from the USA, Trinidad and Tobago, Chile, Columbia, South Africa, Mongolia, Mexico and other places. The host was energetic throughout and kept the kids engaged. The show features dances, acrobatics, a poodle show, horses, elephants, a motorcycle show, and a host of other activities. It's family friendly fun, but it's not your typical circus. My children enjoyed this circus so much. I came for the vibe and the music and the laughter. My husband and I were laughing till we were crying at the new school vs. Old school dance off. The clowns really turn the spot up, the acrobats are insane, the motorcycle trick.... let's just say everyone needs to see that once and again. I will Def be back for that! !! Being a loyal patron of the Universoul Circus since before I can remember is the reason I have to give the 2018 performance a 3 star. With this being the Universouls 25th Year, they should have jazzed it up, had give a ways for the audience (even if it was a commerative pin). Being from Baltimore originally, I just remembered so much more going into the performances. The 'ooohs' and the 'ahhhhhs'. &&& even though there were some memorable moments, I feel that more goes into milestones. Even though I had an awesome and amazing time as I do every year, the USoulCircus have to give back to the communities and guests that have been keeping them as popular for the last 25years. My favorite part of the 2018 performance was the opening act with the Caribbean dancers, the dog act, the trampoline, motorbikes, the tigers and elephants. My least favorite part was the long lines at the concession, and how they have the lines for the picture stations at intermission in front of the sections which cause for a traffic jam and just people standing and talking all in front of you. read more

Used Ticketmaster for the first time a few days ago to purchase tickets to the Universoul Circus in Oakland, Ca which is very unprofessional, unorganized, and inappropriate for kids and family. Issue: False Advertisement Order #47-13397/NCA (Sec K, Row B, Seat 4) Order #47-43302/NCA (Sec K, Row A, Seats 4-8, Sec K, Row B, Seats 5-8) I purchased the 10 tickets listed above for my family, friends, and myself to attend. We were all very excited. Imagine our surprise when we get to our seats only to find a HUGE support beam/pillar/pole in our way. Literally. It wasn't a stop sign king of pole. It was a very wide support pole that keeps the tent up. Seriously??? Here is why I'm upset and why I'm going to share my story with everyone. Ticketmaster is NOT Stubhub.com. In other words, it doesn't offer the 'seat view' like other sites would. So the only thing I have as a seat reference is the seat layout map. In that map there wasn't any mention or drawing or schematic of a structural beam that would obstruct our view. Had I known I would've gladly picked another section for my family to enjoy the show. On top of that, as soon as we sat down, there was humiliation involved. My family and friends looked at me as if it were my fault. I felt embarrassed and humiliated. This was CLEARLY not my fault. I blame the Universoul Circus and whoever on their team that decided it would be a great idea to place seats there. I also blame ticketmaster for false advertising. Ticketmaster charged me a bunch of convenience and service fees yet how I was convenienced? How was I serviced? I wasn't. Yet they still took their money. I relayed the issue to the Circus floor manager who then told me to go to the ticket box office who then told me to call ticketmaster which I then tried too but of course they were closed. I advised this situation was unacceptable to the ticket box office but the rude gentleman there used his finger to point out the sign 'no refunds, no exchanges, no exceptions'. He then said they have been selling out shows like this all over and no one has said anything. Great customer service this guy. I then waited for over half an hour for the floor manager to make another appearance but he never showed up. I then went back to my seat and again was upset about the seats. I asked my family and friends if they could see and they all said 'No'. I then went back to the main lobby to find someone who can fix this. A kind security guard lady took sympathy and said she could sit 4 of my family somewhere else, but none of us wanted to be split up. only 4!??? Thanks kind security guard lady but that just didn't help the rest of us. I shouldn't have to miss half the show trying to find seats or get answers or anything of that nature. Just wanted a nice evening with the family and that was ruined thanks to the awful circus and to the guys who screwed the pooch...TICKETMASTER!!!. Thanks for nothing! My first experience with this show was wonderful. But this year, I'm sorry, but you are losing 2 stars! Oakland California The location was horrendous! It was in the middle of a huge mudpit. We had to walk through the mud, on pieces of wood, across puddles, it was treacherous. Someone should have had the foresight to rent some pallets to place over some dry hay to sop up all the mud and provide a safer environment. I was so afraid that someone would fall and get hurt. How are you going to entertain the children if you have to pay a lawsuit? Be proactive, not reactive. Anticipate that if you have a show in the winter, even if it's in California, you may need to be prepared. I don't know about anyone else, but my tickets weren't cheap, there should have been money for a better venue. With that said, the performers were wonderful. I forget the name of the lady with the buck teeth and white dress, but she is a riot! Would love to see more of her. Bought 2 tickets for $24 each and the total was $70 after the ridiculous fees. $10 for parking (cash only), it wasn't exactly a cheap night out after you add in dinner and drinks after it's over. The attendant placing everyone in their assigned seat was a good touch because, you've guessed it, someone was in our seats. We sat down and had a good time. I will have to say it was kind of warm in that tent, too warm - I started sweating and the seats made me feel like I was flying spirit airlines, after about 20 minutes I was literally butt-hurt. All in all, it was a good show. If I had to change anything about the show, I'd like to see more exotic animals, like bears, lions, tigers, etc. the only animals present were horses, zebras, and camels. Went to what should have been a free show 2/19/15 but they were up to no good. I signed up for free tickets to the show and the tickets read "1 adult per 2 children". One would assume you only needed 1 ticket, I even asked a friend. On eventbrite you could only choose 1 or 2 when getting your tickets. Me the adult plus 2 should mean I only need 1 ticket. We get there an hour early, they separate us by alphabet bc now we have to have a real hard copy ticket. REALLY???? So what was the point of printing the ticket we had? Anyway I get to the front of the line and the man tells me that I only get 1 ticket. I showed him the writing that said "1 adult per 2 children". He told me "you're only getting 1 ticket and everyone behind is not getting in after 7pm because I'm walking away." I get that the tickets were free(Great). But that's no reason to be rude and lie to people. Either you went home because you didn't have enough tickets or you had to buy tickets. Personally, I think that is exactly what they wanted you to do. They knew the kids would be disappointed and parents would buy tickets. I asked 1 gentleman working there about management and he said he didn't know because the workers found out that night about the free tickets. All I can say is piss poor!! Free tickets, thanks... Being Jerked around... NO THANKS. I will probably never go again. I've seen the circus before and I know it's not that great. I went this particular night because it was a free event I could take my kids to. Barnum and Bailey here we come. Universoul circus is officially a joke. I am echoing many other Yelp reviews (that I wish I had read before I went to the show) - the treatment of animals in this circus is cruel and saddening. I could not even stay past the second act (which involved a loud whip-like sound as horses were forced to gallop around in a circle - something that would be extremely frightening for those horses), and I immediately left. I had naively thought that in this day and age, circuses no longer used animals because of the abuses that have been uncovered in circuses. These animals are suffering and they do not deserve to be. I went to this last year and it was a BLAST! The music, the audience interaction and entertainment. Hoping to make it back this year!

I will never attend again. The performers were excellent. The audience gets involved and the people have a great time. The bad thing is the cruelty to the animals. They should know better than to use animals in circuses anymore. We drove around the back of the circus and the elephants were standing on the hot pavement and swaying, a behavior that we found out is showing stress. The people who work there told us that the animals travel and are in chains and cages their whole lives like all other circuses that use animals. They should know better. Today saw the Universal soul Circus at FedEx Field . I come every year this is the first year very disappointed about our seats. We were sitting section E row A 1-6. They have put up like a wall around the ring. If you have seats in row A, B, C or VIP seating you won't be able to see all the acts. So get seats higher up. Everything about this circus has gone downhill. Less circus acts and more audience participation skits compared to previous years. A little too much social commentary as well, I get it, it's a huge issue and problem in our country right now, but hammering it home so many times was over the top. 1/3 of the audience left before it was over. I went opening night in my city in NC....It was a great experience as always!!!!! We enjoy the Fresh Clowns mostly and how Zeke walks around in between time and reacts with everyone!!!
