Well, I was doing my hubby a favor on Friday by getting his license tags renewed and changing the address but I forgot to get him new plates. Oops. So I went back on Monday, the nice lady said I needed to wait 2 business days before and changes could be made. (Ok...see you Wednesday) On Wednesday another very nice lady at the tax assessors office helped me get new plates and I was in and out all 3 times in less than 3-4 minutes. Now that's how you do it!

What a town! The city of Caldwell, Texas is a pretty little…read moretown on the Texas prairies outside of College Station. The town is built up on a hill outside of Lake Somerville. There's not much to this town. The courthouse square is sorta sleepy, surrounded by old and local businesses, many of which it's hard to tell whether they're open or not. It's a nice walk around the courthouse square down to the city park two blocks away. The city of Caldwell is a Main Street City, which they proudly advertise on their billboards in their own city. I guess that means that they do have a main street. I found their main street to be primarily liquor stores. The most exciting thing in this town is that they have a brand new Whataburger, just off the largest intersection in town. There's not much to do here.

I told him it's Cald Well. He didn't take it well. He never Cald back. This is an adorable little town out in the middle of Texas not too far from College Station where you will find very few restaurants not too many people, but it's a cute quiet life in the middle of Texas, and while it may be extremely homogeneous in terms of demographics, it's still a nice place to visit on many levels. And perhaps the best thing about it is that it's nowhere near as expensive as the big cities, while also having some advantages over them. But plenty of disadvantages too, food for example.

I needed some textbooks and writing implements for Uni. So I went to College Station-ary. It's false advertising, because it's actually stuff in there, and not airy at all. Bryan and College Station are really the same city no matter what anybody says. And people say a lot of things. Most and I don't understand cuz the majority of people on the planet speak in languages other than English. Which is good for them because England is a little bit of a Germanic harsh language really. Which is good for them because English is a little bit of a Germanic, garish, harsh language really. Not nearly as sexy as some of the others. Anyway am I getting distracted? College Station has become a real Hub of young life and Student Activity, and is quite a city unto itself now. Bryan is its less-famous neighbour, but is just as big, and together they form a pretty large city. There are even a significant bunch of different ethnicities living here now, which wasn't always the case. That means excellent food and bubble tea shops and exotic dessert places and Vietnamese Banh Mi shops - and don't forget the wonderful Persian food which is shockingly good here in Bryan. Almost on the level of Houston. There's also some decent barbecue, but not on the level of the more legendary or amazing Texas places. It's kind of a little sleepy town in the middle of nowhere, but it's always worth a stop when you're traveling across country. They're jazzing up the center part now, so don't expect anything other than shiny new fancy shopping plazas like Century. They have their own version of Raising Cane's Chicken here, not available anywhere else. It's called Layne's and it hails just from this town, and is sort of the local specialty, but the customer service there can be shocking. During Veterans Day week, the park is full of American flags and a beautiful sight to see. One of the most moving pieces is a beam from the World Trade Center. Being a veteran myself, I find this a great tribute and visit every time I'm in town.

The Military Sciences Building (aka the Trigon) houses the Office of the Commandant for the Corps…read moreof Cadets and all of the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) branches. The basement has the Corps scholarship office with various scholarships available to students interested in joining the Corps of Cadets. Each of the ROTC programs also offer 4 year scholarships for students interested in a career as a military officer after graduation. Friendly and helpful staff throughout the building. I'd give the building itself 2 stars since outdated and run down compared to other buildings on campus. With that said, the ROTC programs have done a good job adding pictures and memorabilia to spruce the place up.

It consists of 49 bells, with the largest over 6000 lbs! Whoop! You can't go up to the top of this tower, as far as I know. It stands at the old entrance to the university. The design fits in well with the architecture of the campus. It's a handsome addition to the College Station skyline, since this is one of the tallest buildings in the whole city. It's located right in the center of a traffic circle. Convenient! One of the bells has the inscription, ""I ring, I sing, I peal, With a mighty force, My love for God, family and country And for that part of my heart which has never left these hallowed halls." These bells chime every 15 minutes.
