This is a classic Hollywood experience that takes you behind the scenes of active and historical…read moremovie sets. The tour is done in a group of about 14 people, with an electric cart taking you around facades, sound stages, and other parts of the studio. You can park in the studio garage for $20. We came on a Saturday and found plenty of free street parking nearby. We parked on Avalon Street, around the corner. The arrival experience felt somewhat disorganized. There are two sets of doors to enter the facility, but neither was clearly marked as an entrance. Inside, there is a Starbucks on the left, bathrooms, and what appears to be a ticketing area. We had purchased online tickets for $69 per person as California residents. After going through a metal detector--which went off because of both my wife's and my belts--we were hand-scanned. Several attendants asked to see our tickets without actually scanning them, which added to the feeling that the entrance process could have been better organized. The tour begins with an exhibit about the Warner brothers, who tried their hands at several businesses before becoming successful in the movie industry. The exhibit emphasizes their success in making movies about ordinary people and their everyday problems. I was surprised, however, that it didn't mention that the brothers were Jewish or the antisemitism their family experienced. Given the emphasis on their family background and connection to ordinary people, I thought that historical context was missing. Our guide, Divey, took us around several buildings and lots of facades where movies such as Spider-Man and Inception, as well as numerous television shows, were filmed. We went inside a sound studio and visited several Stage buildings. I ended up learning much more about how movies and television are actually made than I expected. The second part of the tour included a Central Park café surrounded by the Foley sound exhibit, a Friends exhibit, and a gift shop dedicated to the show. We enjoyed cappuccinos while admiring the incredibly realistic cake props. We then boarded an electric tram for the final part of the visit. This was where the signage became confusing again. There was no clear indication that the tram would take us to the Harry Potter exhibit but the line was for the Superman area, which required an additional ticket we didn't have. There was also a minor seating mix-up: an attendant initially told the four of us to sit on the same bench and then asked us to move because only three people were allowed there. The Harry Potter exhibit itself was excellent. Harry's cupboard-under-the-stairs, the chimney with Hogwarts invitations, the Sorting Hat, and especially the Potions shop were spectacular. Overall, we had a great time. Compared with the Universal Studios tour, Warner Bros. felt much less crowded and more contemplative. We also noticed far fewer children than we typically see at Universal, which contributed to the quieter atmosphere. If you're interested in how movies and television are actually made--and especially if you enjoy classic Hollywood, Friends, or Harry Potter--this is a very worthwhile experience. Just expect some confusing signage and a somewhat disorganized arrival process.This version keeps the review positive but credible: the criticisms are specific rather than overwhelming, while the strongest parts of your experience get more emphasis.

We expect everything and there are no surprises. We always see Norman at the Bates Motel, but Whoville is no more. No more Parting of the Red Sea or broken bridge, but we have Nope Set. That got old real quick. Nope is confusing to the casual rider who has not seen the movie. The War of the World set is magnificent but I would rather have Jurassic section back. I think overall, I am missing quirkiness of days gone by. I hope they up the ante soon with new additions to keep it fresh.

It's a long tram ride but also does include some fun elements and also a 4D section! When I say long, it's 60 minutes. For theme parks, that's long but I think it's an entertaining hour and I love seeing behind the scenes. Seeing how things work is my jam so I really enjoy all the production you can see while on the tour. Unlike their Orlando location (which hasn't even had a tour since 1995), Universal Studios Hollywood is still a working studio so you will see various shows being filmed (A Happy Place is one), commercials and all sorts of other things are filmed here too. You get to see things and scenes from some of your favorite movies and TV shows, as well. One of the exciting things is Jupiter's Claim set from Jordan Pelle's NOPE! You used to be able to get off the tram here for pics but now they just roll through. You'll also experience a flash flood, an earthquake, Norman Bates may attack from the Psycho House, King Kong 360, the classic Jaws scene and all with Jimmy Fallon guiding you through it. There was a Fast and Furious section but that is now gone. I'm curious if they'll bring it back and it's just a break as the F&F Rollercoaster is being built or if it won't come back for that same reason. There is also an actual guide who adds fun quips and stories. Would you believe this opened in 1915 but back then people just sat in bleachers. The real version opened in 1964 with the trams but that is still incredibly impressive. I love this ride and if you have an hour to spare, I hope you do too~!

Our tour guide Dave was awesome - engaging, informative and also inquisitive as we were all an active part of the tour. What more to add? Yes, book the last tour of the day as the tour guide may not feel as stressed to get back to the Hollywood Blvd location on time and you may see some of the local celebrities, either driving their vehicles or briefly walking outside. I want to share how incredibly well organized our day was time wise and I really appreciated how our guide described the rides ahead of time so we could make informed decisions on whether or not to ride. Danny was such a lifesaver being our personal locker while we were on attractions SO I do recommend to not carry too much. He also was incredibly patient with our questions, potty breaks, and most importantly dealing with the kids! It was great having iced water available in a chest at all times for our convenience. From the moment we stepped inside the VIP Lounge, we felt like royalty. They placed an "It's My Birthday" pin on my mom, and throughout the day, at least 40 employees wished her a Happy Birthday. She felt so special. Our tour guide was Kyle, and he was efficient, friendly, and accommodating. Our group consisted of 12 guests total, which was the perfect size. We first did the rides. I was worried that some might be too rough for my mom, but Kyle was great about letting us know how each ride was and asking if anyone in our group wanted to skip a ride. We did a total of 6 rides -- Jurassic Park, Mummy, Transformers, Mario Kart, and two Harry Potter rides. My mom ended up doing all of them with no issue! The best part is that we didn't have to wait in lines at all, and it was Thanksgiving week so it was a busy day. Then we broke for an hour-long buffet lunch, which is reserved for VIP guests only. The food was delicious, and there were characters like Dracula and Lucy (from "I Love Lucy") walking around and greeting everyone. My mom grew up on Lucy, so getting to meet her was amazing! Next, we did the lot tour on a luxurious tour bus with another group of 12. It took us through the King Kong 3D experience, the Jaws set, and an earthquake simulation, among other cool stops. Fortunately, it wasn't much walking as we were all a bit tired by this point. The full experience was around 6.5 hours, but we were engaged from start to finish. We were extremely impressed with Kyle's coordination of the entire day. After the tour was over, we checked out a few shops and did the Simpsons ride and did the Harry Potter ride again -- since our VIP passes allowed us to continue to skip the lines for the rest of the night. It honestly could not have been a more perfect day! I highly recommend the VIP Experience!

Rather, it's like Target is to Targét when we are trying to be fancy. So that's Rubel as in "Roo-bell." Unlike modern-day construction, Rubel Castle wasn't built overnight. It was made of collected recyclables and construction rubble that spanned many decades and took several friends and volunteers to build it. For Michael, however, the lifetime inspiration was first sparked at the age of 9. His love for canons was where it started and the rest is history you can hear about on the tour. But don't just show up like we did randomly one day. There were old vending machines, tools, trinkets, and machinery that time had long forgotten. Did I mention there was a drawbridge? Yes, and a dungeon too. I was just waiting for a dragon to come swoop down on us next. Walk in the footsteps of famous visitors like Alfred Hitchcock, Dwight Eisenhower, Jack Benny, and Bob Hope. It's a feast for the eyes no matter where you glance. I particularly enjoyed the bottle house that Michael built in 1968 as his "home" as a kid. That independent spirit was quite charming to see. ~ WATERCOLOR NATURESCAPE ~ We were fortunate to have our gracious host lead us on a tour and organize a special art crafting experience outdoors. It was absolutely lovely beneath the trees and between rusted vintage cars from the turn of the century. We each got a small canvas to paint our flowers in watercolor. (This particular experience takes place in the Spring and Fall, weather permitting.) We heard the squirrels rattling in the leaves and birds chirped and sang in the trees above. We discovered that peacocks apparently originated from this property, compliments of Michael Rubel. And did I mention that on the far side of the property, a custom garden was in full bloom?
