He didn't rush us as we looked at at the New York backlot (Brooklyn, Lower East Side, etc), soundstages, the set of a popular TV show (I won't say which one!), the bathroom where a lot of fights inside of bathrooms are shot, and the outside of the sound stages where Citizen Kane was shot, Rear Window (and scenes from Vertigo) were shot, scenes from the Godfather were shot and many other great and famous films. I also saw where William Holden's character fell in love with a fellow screenwriter in the movie Sunset Boulevard. We also saw some amazing props from the Transformers, Terminator, and Star Trek movies. For fans of The Ten Commandments with Charlton Heston, we saw where the Red Sea parting scene was shot. My wife and I also got to hold a real Oscar for the 1953 movie War of the Worlds. And I sat on the Forrest Gump bench. Only seven people maximum can go on any one tour -- on a small cart --- so the feeling is personal (vs. being on a bus). My wife and I also went on the Warner Bros and Universal Studios tours. We thought this was the best studio tour. The tour itself was a little over 2 hours. (For parking, we found free parking on a side street across from the studio. Otherwise, we would have paid $20 to park in the studio's lot.)

We were taken to see inside an empty stage as well as inside a stage where props were being built. Our guide showed us movie clips indicating places where the scene or scenes were shot. My favorite was the big blue parking lot where the scene of the famous water separating in The Ten Commandments. The movie was done in the 50's and CGI was still a far fetched idea. Our tour guide showed a lot of enthusiasm and also quite entertaining. The tour lasted about two and a half hours which was well worth it. At the beginning before the tour, we were given ample time to watch segments of past movies which was enjoyable.

Without them, we couldn't even check into our hotel. Thankfully, I always keep emergency cash in the car. Since we have a yearly pass to Universal Studios, we decided to make the best of a stressful situation before heading back home. When we arrived, we were told our pass had a blackout date and we couldn't enter unless we upgraded--but with very little money and no card, that didn't seem possible. The Universal team went above and beyond to help us. They did everything they could to make it work and turned a frustrating day into a memorable one. For my kids, it was their first time. One of our favorite things was the Studio Tour which has a lot of the old things to see that we saw when we were kids back in the day. We borrowed wands and a Mario bracelet for Super Mario World, but it would be nice if kids who didn't have them could have loaners or rent them. Overall, it was fun, just expensive.

The rooms and amenities are all updated however, and if you want to be close to Universal Studios or Studio City in general, this hotel is excellent. They even have a free trolley that runs hourly to/from Universal Studios and a LA bus terminal. Our 3-night stay during Memorial Day was great - comfortable rooms, beds, and friendly service. Rooms had plenty of storage space and charing ports, and wifi is free and fast. They also have an agenda of daily activities like group exercise classes, LA hot dog/taco nights, and classic movies next to the pool. Their main restaurant, Front Yard offers a daily breakfast buffet and ala carte brunch, lunch, and dinner. The only reason for the -1 stars is that their AC is an older, in-wall unit that gets loud when turned on. Outdoor Parking also isn't cheap at $50/night with in/out privileges but that may be typical for the area.

Starting off, when we checked into our room, they had us in a 1 king room, when we had originally…read morerequested a 2 queen room. We had 4 people traveling and 4 people were not going to fit into the 1 king room. When we asked to be switched, they offered us a roll in bed, which was the size of a twin bed, would not fit two adults. When we got up to our room, there was hair on the wall between the shower and the toilet, making us feel like it was not cleaned thoroughly. Our electric car was charging on site and we were running back and forth doing things for the wedding, setting up, etc. No one informed us that there would be an additional charge if we were still parked there after our car was done charging. $58 later and when we mentioned that in our review through the hotel, they said they'd comp our food bill, which was 2 drinks and a fruit bowl, probably $20+. This was disappointing to my mom, who went beyond her means to stay on site for the wedding. This was completely disappointing as we were traveling for a wedding that took place on site. 2 of us were luckily able to stay in the luxury suite which was reserved for the groom get ready room (2 nights). If those stars hadn't aligned, we would not have been able to sleep comfortably in our 1 king room. Also, the suite does not have a microwave in it, we had to request one to be brought up, which I found unconventional. My cousin had their wedding here for how much money my aunt spent between the suite, a bride get ready room, and just the general costs of a wedding, it was disappointing to hear she had a difficult experience here as well. She mentioned that they pulled her away from her son's wedding reception to place her credit card down for incidentals. Why hadn't that happened beforehand? They had her card on file already between all the rooms she booked, so the fact that they took her away from this once in a lifetime experience is ridiculous. She also mentioned that they asked not only for her card info but for her ID. She told them she was not going out of her way to find that when she didn't have it on hand and they were in the middle of celebrating. Needless to say, it was an unfortunate experience this time around. I've been here before and didn't experience the lack of professionalism we experienced this time. The valet service and the staff that supports with luggage were very helpful and kind. It saddens me to have to write such a poor review for such a beautiful place. I have recommended this place to people in the past for general lodging. However, for weddings or any big event, this is not the best of places to host.

He told us tons of interesting facts, shared stories from history, and gave recommendations for things to do in Los Angeles. My favorite part of the tour was getting to see the Hollywood sign and taking photos without any people in the background! Just a company to get your money (I know, I know, but some are worse than others)…read more When you purchase a multi day pass they give you a QR code for your phone. When you show up for the first bus they print a paper to get on that bus. What they don't tell you is that voids your phone pass and the paper they printed is not just for that bus. When you try to get back on the bus, if you didn't keep the ticket they didn't tell you you'll need for the full three days, they want to charge you an additional $15 per ticket to get back on the bus. (Which they already charged you for unlimited rides). So $170 for unlimited rides, but $30 for reprinting the ticket. When we asked why, the guy just shrugs and says we have to go to the office, where they have the story all ready. Is obvious it's set up to get you for the extra $15 per ticket.
