I highly recommend the VIP tour. You start in the lounge with a breakfast buffet that includes egg and cheese croissant sandwiches, ham and cheese croissant sandwiches, pastries, coffee, tea, and juices. The bathrooms are very nice, palatial even. The walls have interesting movie memorabilia, including the letter sent to Speilberg when he tried to work at Universal.

I recently took part in my first VIP experience and created a business page for that so I will have a review of the whole experience there but here I'll say the VIP lounge is a GREAT asset to the experience and a wonderful start to your day! You are greeted by amazing staff at the door and counter of the VIP lounge where they check you in, give you a run down of the day, meeting times, and a poncho for Jurassic World. Once upstairs, you it's free game for all the pastries you can and want to eat! They have a small buffet set-up of breakfast sandwiches (ham & cheese and salmon), pastries, oatmeal, hardboiled eggs, coffee, tea, juices, and water. They also have private bathrooms, hand sanitizer and face wipes, and plenty of seating inside and out. The inside has comfy couches while the patio overlooks the main entrance to Universal Studios. There are plenty of staff on hand to clean and assist you with anything you need as well as the tour guides roaming around when their tour time comes to collect the groups. You definitely don't want to miss this!

A continental breakfast is just that. Cheap danishes, limited amounts of fresh fruit, watered down juice and such. This place was no better no worse. They did have an automated cappuccino machine which is beyond what most setups like this offer. If it was not included in the VIP package I would not go back.

Great value. Basically you get one full day of all the rides (Front of the line), extended back of the lot tour, VIP tour guide and well equipped trolly, breakfast and gourmet lunch and a bunch of other little things add it to make it a excellent way to spend a day at universal studios. Also While we were leaving we stopped by NBC sports bar and they gave us a free dish since we have the VIP experience pass. My recommendation would be to get the earliest tour so that you can get everything done in eight hours and then decide to leave the park take a nap and come back later on. In our case we're just spent and tired from that LA sun, but really loved the tour and glad we did the VIP experience.

Great place to start off before the actual VIP Experience tours. Check in at the front door downstairs and then walk upstairs for a bit of comfort and relaxation. For guests, they do have free complimentary pastries, sandwiches, desserts, and beverages available. Salmon croissants were super delicious. Danish pastries are found here. Tarts, boiled eggs, yogurt, fruits, etc. Pick whatever you want. Take as long as you want, right before your scheduled tour. Restrooms are super clean and unique. Everything is well kept and decorated. Most people scheduled for the tours sit inside the lounge and at the couches. You can choose to sit outside at the balcony and patio areas. Amazing views. Staff is always cleaning and maintaining the place. Very private party feeling. You get to meet your tour guide and get an introduction right before the tours and getting onto the VIP Experience tour bus. Their staff members are well trained and everyone is passionate about their jobs. Tour guide is with you throughout the entire time. Yes, perfect place to start. Free bottled water, sanitation wet wipes, hand sanitizers, sunblock, etc. Beautiful stop for sure.

Em, our tour guide, was personable and knowledgeable, which made the experience even more engaging. We were able to visit the set of Friends (one of my favorites) along with another sitcom set, though I can't recall the name. I do wish there had been more sets included on the tour. The experience is a mix of guided and self-paced exploration, which offers a nice balance. It wraps up with a gift shop at the end. Overall, a really enjoyable and worthwhile experience.

Typically running about 45 minutes to an hour, the studio tour is a perfect break from escalators, lines, and walking around Universal. The guides are funny and engaging and though they usually touch on the same things, I find that each guide has a way of making the tour their own. I always enjoy going through the lot and getting a glimpse of what's being filmed, while also learning about the iconic movies, shows, and even music videos that have utilized the lot before. As a huge fan of Desperate Housewives, my favorite set is Colonial Street. While I'd love to see some updates or new things on the studio tour, having been on it more times than I can count I can still say it's my favorite ride and the thing I look forward to the most at USH.

You still the psycho scare, a look at the faux NYC filming backdrops, and or course Jaws. Which warms my cold nostalgic heart. I really enjoyed the 4-D King Kong adventure in the beginning, but I really missed the giant animatronic King Kong that I remember seeing as a kid. Make sure to sit in the second or third tram car. We were placed in the first tram car and basically missed everything from the flood to Bruce the shark jumping out of the water. My wife and I enjoyed the ride, but our kids (5 & 7) were over it after about 20-minutes. Shout out to our tour guide for all of the knowledge and fun behind scenes anecdotes.

From the moment we stepped inside the VIP Lounge, we felt like royalty. They placed an "It's My Birthday" pin on my mom, and throughout the day, at least 40 employees wished her a Happy Birthday. She felt so special. Our tour guide was Kyle, and he was efficient, friendly, and accommodating. Our group consisted of 12 guests total, which was the perfect size. We first did the rides. I was worried that some might be too rough for my mom, but Kyle was great about letting us know how each ride was and asking if anyone in our group wanted to skip a ride. We did a total of 6 rides -- Jurassic Park, Mummy, Transformers, Mario Kart, and two Harry Potter rides. My mom ended up doing all of them with no issue! The best part is that we didn't have to wait in lines at all, and it was Thanksgiving week so it was a busy day. Then we broke for an hour-long buffet lunch, which is reserved for VIP guests only. The food was delicious, and there were characters like Dracula and Lucy (from "I Love Lucy") walking around and greeting everyone. My mom grew up on Lucy, so getting to meet her was amazing! Next, we did the lot tour on a luxurious tour bus with another group of 12. It took us through the King Kong 3D experience, the Jaws set, and an earthquake simulation, among other cool stops. Fortunately, it wasn't much walking as we were all a bit tired by this point. The full experience was around 6.5 hours, but we were engaged from start to finish. We were extremely impressed with Kyle's coordination of the entire day. After the tour was over, we checked out a few shops and did the Simpsons ride and did the Harry Potter ride again -- since our VIP passes allowed us to continue to skip the lines for the rest of the night. It honestly could not have been a more perfect day! I highly recommend the VIP Experience!

My boyfriend and I attended the RIP Tour for the Horror Nights experience on the 7th of September…read moreand I was extremely upset on how poor our experience was. This was our third RIP tour together and for the price and time spent, this year was definitely not it. When we got to the lounge area everyone was nice as usual, however we were placed with a group of 7 who had gone together and another set of 3 individuals. & then there was my boyfriend and I. We were walked towards the buffet area, however we asked our tour guide that we wanted to purchase merchandise in which she did point us to the nearest booth and she went her way & told us about the time we would all be meeting again & to go enjoy the buffet. Which was where it started to go downhill not even 15 minutes into our time being there. The individual who saw us walk with our tour guide was refusing to let us back to the buffet area even though we had walked in already with our group & told us we needed an early wristband when we had our RIP wristband & land yard.. that was a bit bothersome... We got back inside to the buffet area luckily, however most of the food items were scarce..& they were missing items from previous years as well..such as no pizza, mini corn dogs, low on mac n cheese and the trip tip was good that there was just not enough for everyone.. I will add that I did enjoy having a scare actor while we dined which I thought was a nice little touch... We then started our tour after eating & here we go again...I had rushed to use restroom because we had to meet at the designated time, but guess what..the large group needed to go to the restroom when we had already waited for them because they were taking pictures prior to meeting with us..so now we went to the restroom for a break because apparently we were running on their time.. Going through the mazes the group was acting a fool our tour guide didn't see it but other staff did go up to them to tell them not to do certain things to the scare actors..the tour just seemed as if it was theirs and not for what we paid for..we ended up going to the rides that they wanted to go on because the tour guide overheard them..not just that..during the nice cool photo opps that they exclusively had for RIP once again we ran on the large groups' time because they wanted to take multiple pictures...I let the tour guide know that I wanted to purchase a drink which we haven't done so previous years, but I was annoyed and at that point I just wanted a drink..but guess what, we waited in the regular bar..Yes, we weren't told were the RIP bars were located.. Although this time around our experience wasn't the greatest the mazes were pretty good. However, that's a given as it is UNIVERSAL! I would like to suggest that parties larger than 5 should have their own tour guide. Or at least try to match similar ages or something..also please have a nice variety of food for the buffets stocked and please do continue to add actors while we dine that was really nice..I really do hope there is some sort of improvement and I do wish everyone does have a great experience compared to mine this year..

I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience here at Rubel Castle. Our host, guide,…read moreand local "Rubelligent" volunteer, Ms. Kathleen had all the intel about this historical property. She was so knowledgeable and helped set the stage for us to slip into a forgotten era and get a glimpse of how imagination met inventiveness with a DIY charm. ~ A LITTLE BACKSTORY FOR YOU ~ It's not pronounced Rubel as Barney from Flintstones. Rather, it's like Target is to Targét when we are trying to be fancy. So that's Rubel as in "Roo-bell." Unlike modern-day construction, Rubel Castle wasn't built overnight. It was made of collected recyclables and construction rubble that spanned many decades and took several friends and volunteers to build it. For Michael, however, the lifetime inspiration was first sparked at the age of 9. His love for canons was where it started and the rest is history you can hear about on the tour. But don't just show up like we did randomly one day. To book, visit RubelTours.org and make a reservation. ~ OUR TOUR EXPERIENCE ~ It's as if Michael Rubel, the creator and mastermind of this enchanted dominion had intended it to be--magical. Built in the castle period of wood and tin, every corner captured our interests, from antique cars to the 1890's Seth Thomas Tower Clock with a unique backstory (and only six in existence today). There were old vending machines, tools, trinkets, and machinery that time had long forgotten. Did I mention there was a drawbridge? Yes, and a dungeon too. I was just waiting for a dragon to come swoop down on us next. Walk in the footsteps of famous visitors like Alfred Hitchcock, Dwight Eisenhower, Jack Benny, and Bob Hope. It's a feast for the eyes no matter where you glance. I particularly enjoyed the bottle house that Michael built in 1968 as his "home" as a kid. That independent spirit was quite charming to see. ~ WATERCOLOR NATURESCAPE ~ We were fortunate to have our gracious host lead us on a tour and organize a special art crafting experience outdoors. It was absolutely lovely beneath the trees and between rusted vintage cars from the turn of the century. We each got a small canvas to paint our flowers in watercolor. (This particular experience takes place in the Spring and Fall, weather permitting.) We heard the squirrels rattling in the leaves and birds chirped and sang in the trees above. We discovered that peacocks apparently originated from this property, compliments of Michael Rubel. And did I mention that on the far side of the property, a custom garden was in full bloom? Thanks to the sheer persistence (and probably delightful stubbornness) of Michael Rubel, we now have this quirky, towering State Treasure sitting right in the middle of Glendora like a fairy tale that accidentally took a detour through a hardware store. This place is beautifully done, and part of its charm is that it's a full-on hodgepodge of relics, antiques, crystal trinkets, and "wait... what is that doing here?" moments tucked into every nook and cranny. You'll marvel, you'll laugh, you'll squint in confusion--honestly, it's everything you'd want in a castle built with love, imagination, and a dash of madness. And let's talk about the makeshift cemetery. Quirky? YES. Fun? Absolutely. Slightly spooky? Only if your imagination is over-caffeinated. But it fits the vibe perfectly--like the castle whispered, "You know what I'm missing? A tiny cemetery." The tours are fantastic, the guides are passionate, and the whole experience feels like you're stepping into a living scrapbook of California history and charming chaos. Overall: Amazing, amazing place. Book your tour. They only do tours every first Sunday of the month, so set your alarms, mark your calendars, tie a string around your finger--just don't miss it. Rubel Castle is truly a California State Treasure, and an absolute must-see for anyone who appreciates creativity, history, and a little eccentric sparkle.
