My first time at Essentials Massage and Facials for a one hour massage with hot stones,…read morearomatherapy, and a sugar scrub. The facility is clean and modern, front desk was friendly and professional, and the Massage therapist was polite and knowledgeable. She used a wide variety of skillful techniques and modalities; a couple of which, were new to me. Her pressure was perfect; not too light, and not too heavy. I did upgrade my massage to a more therapeutic massage, as opposed to a lighter relaxation massage. She used the hot stones correctly, and even incorporated hot towels in the beginning, to relax my muscles. Something I was really surprised about, was the fact that she added stretching to the massage. Although that is certainly something that a therapist is taught, and within their scope of work, I would say in all my years since graduating as a Massage Therapist myself (2012), and in getting massages over the years, I have never had a therapist stretch me as she had (not since leaving school). I thought that I was a pretty "bendy" person (if you're a "Friends" fan, you'll recall Phoebe telling Chandler, "I'm very bendy!"). I try to stretch regularly, and still occasionally do yoga. But today, I realized how unbelievably stiff I am. She pushed and pulled, until I was in the shape of a twisty pretzel. At the end, she did a sugar scrub on my feet. I left feeling quite sore, but it was a good sore. Moving forward, I would request a deep tissue massage, but I just want the hands. The hot stones came with my package, but have never really been a fan favorite of mine; the same with the sugar scrub. The aromatherapy was nice. And I certainly could do without the stretching. I need to work on my stretching routine at home more often, before I can be tugged at and extended to that degree. Still, one of the better massages I've received in the area. I definitely recommend!

They use very gentle and natural products for young people and definitely customized the session. Will definitely return. I got to relax in the waiting area and even that space was wonderful to sit, it was dimly lit and quiet-you could actually fall asleep ;)

I've been to my fair share of nail salons and none of them have ever been perfect, but Rain is as…read moreclose as it gets! I'm pretty sure God himself loaned his manicurist out to the human race, and her name is Tanya. Be warned!! If you want her, you have to call and make an appointment. Why? Because just about everyone whose a regular customer wants her. *raises hand*. When I first started coming here, I saw whomever was available for basic mani/pedis. One day I got placed with Tanya. During my pedicure I made sure to ask her name. I've seen her ever since, with recurring appointments every 3 weeks like clockwork. it's been 3 years. She's so thorough, knowledgeable and will explain anything to you about your nails that you wanna know. Don't like something? Tell her and she'll adjust. LOVE something and want her to keep doing it? Tell her and she'll accommodate. So, that God's manicurist wouldn't be lonely, he also loaned us his waxer. Her name is Angelie. I made the mistake of going to another salon months ago when Angelie was out to get my eyebrows done. Worst mistake ever! Now, I know to wait till she gets back. She's super sweet, thoughtful and she also knows her stuff! The rest of the staff is great as well! Some salons are really sticklers about having THEIR customers, but everyone here helps everyone out and I love it. As soon as I get in, they ask me if I want something to drink. If they get really busy and my feet are soaking a little longer than normal, any one of them will make sure to replace the water in the tub so my feet don't get cold. I LOVE this place and refuse to go anywhere else! If I were to give any constructive criticism (which has NOTHING to do with their services), it would be to have Rain disallow customers bringing in their children unless said child is also receiving a service. If they can't sit up front on their own, leave them at home. When I come for my nail appointment the last thing I want is someone's kid being loud and disruptive.

Rain tends to be hit or miss for me, but generally a decent nail salon! I had Summer help me most…read morerecently and she did a wonderful job. I got a gel manicure, which she did quickly and well. I was between 2 colors and she even swatched each on a finger for me to see under the light to decide! The nail techs are always friendly and kind. The vibe is laid back and relaxing with a bright interior. I'm usually able to walk in with little to no wait, which is always nice. I would come back in the future and recommend booking with Summer!

As a (former) Licensed Massage Therapist, I am very much aware of what to look for in a Massage…read moreTherapist. Even without trying, I am unintentionally analyzing everything from start to finish; this can be both a curse and a blessing. Unfortunately, it can also sometimes make me a harsh critic; in other words, my standards are quite high. I've lived in Virginia for 9 years. In those years, I can literally count just one therapist that I experienced that exceeded my expectations, prior to this massage. All others fell short...and I don't mean "just barely". I mean so bad, they made me question whether they actually received an education, or were simply hanging fraudulent certifications and licensures on their walls. Stress Free Therapeutic Massage (Miss Lydia) reminded me of how remarkable a skilled massage therapist can be. From start to finish, she was indeed incredible! My husband purchased me a 90 minute Groupon. After leaving a message on her voicemail, I received a text message, requesting that I visit the website to schedule. She was booked out somewhat ahead, which now makes perfect sense. As someone who's worked in the field, I understand the importance of being on time for your appointment; there is often paperwork involved for first time visits, and most therapists run a pretty tight schedule, not allowing much idle time between clients. Therefore, if you're late, it runs into the next clients appointment, leaving the therapist faced with cutting your time short, which is often a difficult decision, because they certainly don't want to lose you as a client either. Finding the facility was somewhat tricky for me; I had a small commute to the office, and I wasn't familiar with the area. For reference, this place sits in the back of a building that says "Chiropractor" on the front. If you're looking at Pancho Villa, it's right to the left of the restaurant. Parking is in a lot in the back of the building. Lydia's office is up the steps, to the second floor. Upon arrival (at just after 1pm for my 1:30pm appointment), one of her clients was just heading out. Just as expected, I had some short paperwork, and she got me in 10 minutes early, at 1:20pm. She started with me face down, which ironically is my preferred method. She started on my back, focusing on my noted trouble points (low back and neck). Her pressure remained steady and consistent throughout the massage, showing that she was a seasoned professional. She has great deal of physical stamina and excellent manual dexterity. I personally prefer a firm pressure, and she achieved the perfect level of pressure throughout. She ended the massage just on time, at 10 till 3pm. At no point did I feel like I wasn't receiving the upmost attention and care. Lydia remained professional and skilled, utilizing a variety of techniques. She possesses the ability to use different modalities/approaches to address her clients' needs. Her facility is clean, her demeanor is warm, welcoming and professional. I highly recommend her!
