We can't talk about pricing because we were so frustrated by other contractors not even returning our calls and by the one who ripped us off (Goodland Plumbing by demanding a $150 up front payment for a quote and then never getting back to us with a quote), in the end, we were not in a position to seek out competitive pricing - tired of cold showers. California as Business Code 7159 clearly states they need to both provide an estimate and get a signature for work over $500. They did neither. We have filed a complaint with the California State Licensing Board.

He apologized - had an emergency and forgot about me (self-admitted). We rescheduled for a future date. I needed AM. He wanted to do 3-4. I asked when we could do AM appointment. We agreed upon time and day. That morning I get an email confirming 4PM appointment. I called and Dio says he thought it was 4PM. He was willing to send someone out right away, but after all that I canceled the appointment and did not reschedule. He may be very good at repairs and plumbing work, but the communication and appointment organization needs work.

We will not be referring Lewis Plumbing. I understand if there is a labor cost, but should have been told that initially. Update: The owner contacted us today & he apologized for the misunderstanding for charging us a labor bill for $330.00 and said he would refund my check. We really appreciate that he went the extra mile to make it fair. Next time we will ask what they charge to come out & take a look to fix the problem. When he left. after 3 hours, snaking kitchen line, and then, the tub and the shower line (which was fine to begin with), the kitchen line was blocked completely. The Lewis plumber seemes to not know what he was doing. He forgot the equipment (large drain cleaner) in my shower, when I call them to take this out of my house he returned to get it, and after he left I had to srew in the drain opening myself. They charge $165 per hour, and he charged me for 4 hours work while he was only there for little over 3 hours. He lied on the invoice claiming the kitchen drain was blocked from the beginning. Shame on you, Lewis Plumbing. It's the most overpriced plumbing company in my area, and I came to them because my HOA recommended it. Now reading the reviews I see many people had bad experiences with them. I wish I researched them before choosing this company. An update: the company manager called and offered to send a technician at no cost to try to correct the issue. A senior technician came in and fixed the problem within an hour. He also brought back the check I gave them, and issued a new invoice, for $390, which seems very fair. The technician was super nice, and clearly very experienced. The bottom line: the company clearly stands up to its reputation, and makes ammends if anything goes wrong. Frankly, I did not expect this, and am more than happy with the resolution of the situation.

Now, 3 weeks later, after several follow-up texts from me, Goodland has ghosted us. I will file complaint with the State Contractor's Licensing Board and possibly take legal action; But, I am guessing that the Contractor Licensing Board has bigger issues to deal with than me being ripped off for $150. Beware of Goodland Plumbing and their demand for $150 in order to give you a "quote" for plumbing work.
