I'm a single woman living alone and currently recovering from a fractured foot in a CAM boot. On Thursday, June 19, 2025, technicians from Universal Air-Tec arrived--properly scheduled by my apartment complex to service my a/c unit. Despite repeated verbal cues ("Hold on," shouted three times), the technician tried to unlock and open my door before I could reach it. When I grabbed the door, he yelled "I didn't hear you" and accused me of wasting time. His younger companion curtly asked, "So, do you want service?" and proceeded inside, muttering and opening my blinds halfway, clearly irritated. When I asked for respectful behavior, I was accused of speaking "nasty." He then left and falsely told the office that I didn't want service. A third technician eventually completed the job without issue.
I felt insulted, intimidated, and unsafe in my own apartment. No tenant--especially one injured--deserves to be treated this way by service personnel in their own home. I requested that the individuals involved not be sent to my unit again. Unfortunately, I also had to notify the property manager due to their misrepresentation of my genuine request for service.
This shouldn't happen during a scheduled maintenance visit. I hope management addresses this behavior so no one else experiences such aggression and disregard. read more
