I made the mistake of purchasing an A/C from this company in April 2021. They f*cked up the installation SO incompetently, they set off a sprinkler system which caused the Fire Department to come over - in fact, the fireman supervising the scene advised me not to accept the unit, and demand a fresh one. I only accepted the job and unit, because I was dying from the heat, and at that point just wanted them to get the damn job done and get out of my apartment. The outside unit (compressor) was guaranteed as an 16 SEER, and all the brochures say it is 14 SEER. The woman at Universal ASSURED me that it was actually 16 SEER (even though the brochure says "14 SEER" (See enclosed images). The unit outside has suffered a number of "dead capacitors", and has once again failed. I also just found out (according to the tech. that was just here), that the A/C unit they sold me AS NEW in 2021,WAS ACTUALLY MANUFACTURED IN 2005. Due to the incident with installation, I had demanded that, before I would accept the unit, that they add a guarantee in the contract for 10 years parts and labor at the time of purchase. When the unit went again today, I called Universal, and instead got a woman from "Air Pros", who claimed they were "the parent company for Universal". When the tech. came out, he told me I would have to pay for parts and labor. I pointed out the clause in the contract, so he called the woman back at the office. She refused to speak over the technician's phone, as she said she refused to speak on a recorded line. I had to use MY phone, before she would speak, just so she wouldn't be recorded. She then claimed that they DIDN'T own Universal, they had only bought out their phone lines (after saying before they DID own Universal. Oops, now suddenly they don't). She refused to honor the contract THEY SIGNED, claiming that said contract "became null and void when Universal went out of business". But, they WOULD be happy to fix it for (something like) $1500. plus (funny, just 2 hours before, they were saying THEY WERE THE PARENT COMPANY FOR UNIVERSAL. Guess they must have sold it within the last 2 hours. YET, when I look up (and called, afterwards) Universal's current number, "Air Pros" still answers. Oh, and I noticed in another review, they pulled the same bullsh*t on ANOTHER customer with a signed warranty. So they obviously have a history of reneging on\breaching signed contracts). She was exceedingly rude, refused to honor the guarantee SIGNED BY UNIVERSAL, and said, "have a nice day", and hung up on me Perhaps "Universal" ("Airpros". Or NOT "Airpros"? Guess it depends on the situation at the moment) needs to terminate ANOTHER employee. I'm 61, suffer from NUMEROUS serious medical and mental conditions, and I can't survive in an 84 (NOW 85)-degree apartment. I've already nearly passed out a number of times from the heat. They intentionally lied to me in 2021 about the compressor. They KNOWINGLY, FRAUDULENTLY sold me, in 2021, an A\C THAT WAS MANUFACTURED IN 2005 - The tech HIMSELF said this, and claimed it was very old, that some of the manufacturing parts or something were no longer used. So, basically, this company committed MULTIPLE intentional frauds. Why else would the representative refuse to speak on a recorded line (yet THEY reserve the right to record YOUR calls) (And I have plenty of documentation to PROVE my claims. As y'all can see by the posted images. I have submitted fraud complaints to the state Attorney General, the Department of Justice, and the FTC. I might even consider elder abuse because of the completely rude and lying\deceptive rep. I spoke to. I told them I had a paralegal degree. They chose to ignore that. Now, they're gonna find out what that means. But, before that happens, I want social media to see what I went through). read more

The worst A/C company i have encountered so far. The technician came out a week ago and said he fixed my A/C, he charged me $700 just to hook up some wires that was already there and to change a capacitor. Which I feel was way to much for the little amount of work and short time he was working on unit. For my A/C not to be cooling when I need it most. I called to have technician come back out. My appointment that dispatcher told me my time slot was for 9am to 11am. But they had me scheduled for 11am to 2pm. Just to tell me that they was going to charge me again to have technician come back out for their miscommunication. Definitely a bad experience i wouldn't recommend this company and i will no longer be using their services for anything. I can see why they have such bad reviews. 8/26/22 To add to my horrible experience, Mike the owner sent a another technician out to my place. The new technician insisted that i needed a entire new unit after spending $700. Mind you the new unit was going to cost 9,000. But makes me wonder why did i spend $700 and now to spend 9 grand to replace a unit that i shouldnt of never spent $700 on. Mike wanted me to remove this review, but i wanted my money back. Universal was called for a warranty service call on a new Rheem A/C that they had installed last year. Maurice the Universal Technician showed up, Diagnosed the problem as a routine capacitor replacement and that a contactor would also be required. He said the cost would be an outrageous $389.00 When showed the warranty, he said he was only a technician and that he had to collect the money. With a house full of Mourners, I spoke to Mercedes the head of Customer service at Universal, SHE SAID THAT THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THE WARRANTYCONTRACT. Parenthetically, only when I requested to see the defective contactor, did Maurice confess that he did not replace the contactor at all. I said to him, How much do you charge to replace just the $20.00 warranted capacitor, he responded $389.00. I responded HUH? He said the charge is now $389.00 for EACH!! What a story? Had them install an air-conditioning unit in my new home last year. We had some electrical problems so we were unable to use it until now. The unit has no refrigerant in it and the blower had a problem. I called them to come fix it and they told me that they no longer worked with York air conditioners. I called York for my warranty and they told me they can't help because it was an installation issue. Universal Air and Heat have left me completely out to dry and have been extremely unhelpful. I paid full price for an air conditioning system and have been cooking in the hot summer heat despite it. Our a/c stopped working on a Tuesday night, a very nice estimator named Joseph came the next day. The work was scheduled for the very next day, Thursday. The 2-man team arrived on time and did a very good job of replacing our defunct a/c. One had come in with an adequate mask, the other with a bandanna type mask which does nothing against Covid. I gave him a nk-95 mask automatically which he cheerfully used. Towards the end, another employee of Universal came to complete some paperwork, with no mask at all. We brought this issue up with the owner, who expressed frustration that the situation in Florida is such that he can't force employees to get vaccinated. I understand, and he pledged to increase his efforts to have his employees get the vaccine. He even said that he would LOVE to advertise that his work force is fully vaccinated! I hope that day comes for him soon. The response of the owner was great, and he did point out that his workers worked all through the pandemic, even before the vaccine, providing an essential service- August in Florida makes a/c essential. And our new a/c works so well that we've started turning the thermostat up a little because it gets cold in here- and it's 95 and feeling like 101 outside. They did a great job. read more

(from his personal cell & to a senior citizen) w/regards to legal actions he would be taking should post not be deleted. Yet, his response to original post was that "he didn't recall ever speaking with me, sorry for negative experience... If that's true, how did you get my cell number? We purchased 3, 2-ton Rheem A/C units in 2017 from Universal Air & Heat out of Davie, FL for nearly $13,000+ w/5-year parts warranty. Also financed through their sources. Since installation, fan motors started blowing. ($500 per unit), recommended surge protectors, (which I purchased from another vender for considerably less), 3 compressor interrupters (at a discount $300). Also did duct cleaning they recommended. In early May of 2021, a compressor blows out. Rep came out in a truck that looks like a garbage can inside giving me an immediate diagnosis & quoting me $1000 for installation (parts under warrenty). He also recommend York's units w/10-years parts & labor since Rheem units were garbage (in a more colorful language). Spoke to the owner Mike who did me a favor giving me his best & final offer of $950 & by all means to go shop him. I did that, best favor he ever did for me. The compressor was fixed by Larry's Air Conditioning out of WPB for a fraction of what he quoted. Buyer beware! Worst company & experience of my life. WoW thought everything was fixed. Building inspector finally approved the new install. After he left I went up into the attic and found water and a disconnected duct next to the new chain that was installed. Not having the right supplies to repair the condensation and reattach the duct, I wrapped fiberglass batting around the leaking duct. I called and spoke to Ann Marie in their call center and she scheduled a professional to come out on Monday between 2&4 . At 4:15 I called and spoke to someone who said the mechanic was running late, and she was going to see where he was. No call back. So I called again at 4:30 and was told I must be mistaken, I was not on the schedule. I told him I wanted to speak to the owner of the Company. I was then put on hold and transferred to Dan the dispatcher. He apologized and set me up for 9-11 the following day. Received a call that morning saying they would not be coming new installations were more important and they would not be coming till February 28 th 9-11 over two weeks from the original service date. So I guess they don't care about the water leaking and the disconnected duct. This is beyond ridiculous. I can't recommend this company to my worst enemy. read more

This company has ignored my repeated calls to finalize the inspection and complete the permitting for the unit that they installed. The permit has now expired and County is requiring them to renew and pull a new permit and pay the fees again. So far they have done nothing and have not responded back to me as to what they are going to do. Their call center people say don't worry they will take care of it but still nothing. I am now facing $1000/day fines from the County due to their actions. Looks like I will have to pay the renewal fee myself and have the County inspector complete what they were supposed to do and turn around and sue Universal Air & Heat to recover my damages. After a long week, many phone calls, a lot of aggregation I am pleased to say I finally have a working AC. Third attempt mostly successful, but took two days to complete job when initially quoted 6-8 hours and was short one part. Made Yelp review and Mike from main office got the ball rolling on making it right. Still waiting for completion, but head office stays in touch when issue pop up. When asking to speak to a supervisor, tells me they are too busy & will call me later. I tell him I will be happy to amend my review when they actually show up and do the service...in the meantime he sends me multiple messages asking me to feel sorry for his company that mistakes are made...Then he threatens me telling me he will not do what he said he would if I dont remove my review..he then tells me I will never be happy so he will not do the service at all. STEER CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY, the OWNER IS A REAL HEADCASE!!! This guy is continuing with his nonsense. Very sad...blaming the customer for your incompetent manner is unacceptable...Now he is citing a safety issue...unreal. Why would anyone amend a review if they never received service. He said he would like me to delete my review & when I didn't he continued to send me a Bunch of nonsensical text messages... Like I said this guy is A PIECE OF WORK. My A/C was blowing warm air, had Universal come out, came out 3 times and it's still wasn't fixed and charged me $470 for nothing and said I needed a new blower costing $950. I called another company (Miller A/C) and they fixed it in an hour for $244. I am an 81 yr old widow living on social security, I guess I'm just out the $470! read more

They gave me a 1-6 hour window and come 6:20 did not arrive. The customer service rep was very nice and polite tried to reschedule but as a first time customer this window of time is too long for them not to show. UPDATE: 11/9/2022 Well Dan was not a man of his word and he is not better then his employees that were nasty to me. He now thinks it's ok to push the bill from the plumber onto my building. This is an issue his tech caused and probably could have fixed, but he did not want to take the time or give me the right time of day. Mind you it was not even my residence that was serviced, but my unit issue was a by product of shoddy work. People there are plenty of good air companies out there. You will be sorry if you use them. If there is a way for good people to contact me I can put you in touch w good companies. Just because you boast about having 35 trucks on the road does not translate to a good company. He had his line blown out as he was having his condenser line backed up. Problem is he is on the third floor directly above me and I am on the first floor. All of a sudden around noon I see a man in my back yard looking at our drain pipe. Ten minutes later water is gushing out of my unit all over our new floors. It seems that his clog was blown out and now lodged in my pipe. This is a common pipe it seems. the service guy came in our unit and was not helpful at all and did not care. So much so that he went outside in the yard and tried to sneak off without saying anything else to me. So if he does not come and service my neighbors unit, we have no problem. Their office was useless, 3 different people told 3 different stories. They all told me the owner Dan would call me, well its 9pm and I have not heard back. Two ladies had the nerve to say its my buildings fault. The other one told me she called the association office and they admitted it was the buildings fault. When i asked what was the office name(Phoenix Mgt is our property manger) she could not tell me, but yet she insisted she spoke to someone at this fictitious office. So in the kindest word this was untrue 100%. I checked with Phoenix just to make sure and guess what, no one ever called them. The way I was treated is all taught from the top. I had to call in a plumber to repair the clog. This will cost our building hundreds of dollars because of a careless tech. If anybody out there needs a good air conditioning company I have 2 of them, definitely not this one. I have to give them 1 star as Yelp will not let you do none at all. They deserve none. Update: 10:45pm After sending this review, with in minutes Dan (owner-mgr) called me. He got a totally different version of todays events for his customer service reps. They were very honest and did a great job on my air duct cleaning. The tech showed up on time and was very clean as well as thorough throughout the process. They took lots of pictures to show me what my ac and ducts looked like and that made made me feel comfortable. My ac unit is new but my air ducts were so old I needed to treat the ducts and I'm so happy I did, what a difference in the air quality in my home. Its so crisp and clean feeling! I had been having allergy issues after moving into our not so new home. I Called to schedule a cleaning of air ducts after seeing one of their mailer ads. I told the company on the phone that my home was the older type with round vents, specifying the system must be as old as the house. They stated that this was no problem. I was excited and scheduled them to come on a day my boyfriend had off. They showed up and that's when the bait and switch happened. Basically they lied, they could not work on my older system but happily offered a $200 spray into our ducts to kill bacteria (absolutely not helpful for the dust and previous tenants dog fur all in the system that was irritating my sinuses.) My boyfriend confused by this agreed thinking this is what I ordered. One thing I appreciate in business is honesty. They left their stickers and magnets all over our property so we can call them when we have issues. I'm leaving them in place so I know absolutely who NOT to call when we need a new system. Believe it or not, dishonesty may make you a quick buck today, but you will not receive any future business from me and no recommendations whatsoever. read more

I would not recommend this business to any one. I called over a week ago to have someone come out and repair my ac. Rich ard Conte came out, turned on the air nothing cam out of the vents. Went outside, came back in and said it's the duct work (which they installed) I don't know if he looked under the crawl space or not. Said he would handle someone coming out to fix the duct work. I called the next day to ask when they would be out, customer service, said nothing was set up. So ok, I set up an appt for the following day (Wed) between 11- 2 , then it went to Thurs, Fri, so far I have called them 10 times this week, now they tell me Fri that they will be out Sat between 2-5, 5:15 I call again, was told it was cancelled cause of the weather. My weather was fine, I called them at 1pm to tell them that. Now I set up for Monday, ok no problem, now I get a text saying it won't be till Tues between 2-5.
