New England Landscape and Design has been our go-to for various yard and home needs for the past…read moreten years or so. We have always been happy until this point. Our sprinkler servicing company closed during COVID, so we had New England Landscape and Design winterize our sprinklers in November 2021. According to my husband, he asked the owner if he needed to get into the house to access the water shut-off and was told no. Yesterday we opened the sprinkler lines to find an exterior pipe had burst in the winter due to improper winterization. According to the owner, my husband told him the water was shut off and he didn't need to come in the house. Classic case of two differing stories, but knowing we have always had someone come in the house to do this task, I know my husband wouldn't have said this. I emailed the owner a video of the broken pipe and he claimed several times my husband told him the inside was taken care of. He is unwilling to fix or even work with us to rectify this mistake. I was looking for a compromise and go nothing. Additionally, he brought up that he felt this was the "gutters all over again." I had forgotten about that, but his team was a week and a half late to clean our gutters. I inquired about them coming from my office one day and learned they were in the middle of cleaning our gutters when I inquired. I didn't know that because I wasn't home. My gutter inquiry must have unknowingly struck a nerve, because the owner reminded me of the gutters today when I was trying to work with him to come up with a resolution. Now I am stuck paying for a plumbing repair for his mistake. His customer service attitude is terrible, and he isn't taking responsibility to make things right. Beware. I am disappointed because we have always been pleased up until this point and have recommended this company to many others in town. But, his callous behavior today has changed our minds and we will be warning others about this company from here on out. Update: We have contacted three sprinkler companies since I filed this initial review to fix the broken valve and look into installing a backflow preventer. Each person stated that it is protocol and common knowledge for anyone to turn on outside faucets once they are done blowing out the line to ensure there is no water in the line. Had they done this we would not have had a broken valve because they would have realized the water wasn't turned off inside. Each person also told us backflow preventers are typically installed inside and indeed, we had our new sprinkler person verify and locate our backflow preventer, so NE Landscape inaccurately told us our system wasn't to code. They were correct that no one takes responsibility for their actions. A simple "Gee, your husband I misunderstood each other! What can we do to come up with a solution?" would have solved the problem when I first approached them with this. Instead, they refused to take any fault and continued to blame the customers over and over. Then they brought up something about the gutters that we had no recollection of. I recalled that they supposedly scheduled us for gutter cleaning on 11/1 and they came instead on 11/11. We didn't see the crew when I texted them and then apologized that they were there and we hadn't seen them. We were happy customers of theirs for years and are disappointed in their demeanor and business response. It's too bad, because we are about to install a huge retaining wall in the back and were going to have them do the job. Attitude is everything, and we are not pleased with their approach to this situation at all. Others in their industry have all said they made the mistake by not checking the faucets before they left last fall after blowing out the lines. We paid $200 for someone to fix their mistake and still, they are being unprofessional about the situation and taking zero responsibility.

It included regrading a…read moreportion of our lawn, replacing some shrubs, trimming some hedges, and replanting a small flower bed. The re-grading was successful, and Luke is a nice person to speak with. However, things moved slowly (as with most contractors), and Luke disappeared when we realized some of the plantings had been done in error. We aren't a family that freaks out about small delays and minor mistakes, but communication goes a long way toward smoothing things over with us. We're sad that we can't provide a better review, given that the largest component of the project (i.e. regrading) was successful. However, there were just too many mistakes and too little investment in making things right. If Luke does wind up getting back to us belatedly with a plan, we'll update our review to reflect it.

I had a sewage back up in my basement and needed to get the old orangeberg pipe removed and a new sewer line replaced on my property. I knew Brunelle had done other work on my street in the last year so I reached out to them. John responded within one hour even less then that and was at my house looking over the job. John gave me a fair price and within days (after calling dig safe) the job began. John and his team finished the pipe laying and excavating in one day. I seen the entire job get done and even had a neighbor watch for me as well. I appreciate how quickly John Brunelle got this job on my property done. I will give this a 5 star rating if some other things happens or I will drop it to a 3. My yard needs to be resodded and John said he would take care of it, it is Jan. now so I don't expect the resod until spring but also THIS IS NOT JOHN BRUNELLE Fault. The town had John tie in the new pipe on my property to their existing orangeberg pipe in the street instead of replacing it all with new pipe. This is a huge concern to me because orangeberg pipe has an expectancy of 50 years so the towns pipe is now at 55 years and potentially could cause another back up for me. I truly believe the town of Mansfield should have had Brunelle run brand new pipe onto the street as well but I understand that John Brunelle cannot do that unless the town allows him to and also pays him to do it. This is the biggest concern on this particular job I have, it was only like 15 more feet of new pipe that needed to be laid. I cannot understand why the town would not just allow it to be done right, tying in new pipe to 55 year old orangeberg pipe is a recipe for disaster but that is the decision the town of Mansfield made. Brunelle Cotracting did all for me that they could under the circumstances at hand so once my yard is resodded that will complete their end of the bargain and I will recommend to anyone who asks.

The onsite boss, Dave, was extremely considerate of what we were dealing with and kept the noise down to not interupt us except when needed. The work itself was solid, exacting and will probably be standing for the next two hundred years. Dave came up with modifications needed in the bathroom to allow for my mother's needs and graciuosly gave his expert opinion when we were unsure of certain decisions. They even brought in dirt and reseeded the lawn after the trucks had needed to drive over it for deliveries. Months after the job was done we discovered that the chimney had collapsed internally so I called Paul, the owner, and he had a chimney company there within two hours. We had no idea who to call ourselves and were extremely happy with the company Paul contacted on our behalf. Built-Well doesn't just build things and vanish, they strive to create a relationship with their clients and do the quality of work that master craftsmen spend their lives learning. They say that they don't build things like they used to, Built-Well does.
