I don't understand the poor reviews because we had a wonderful experience with Get A Life Pet…read moreRescue, founded by Stacy Chaya. Stacy came over to do a home visit and I found her to be professional and passionate about the importance of placing Dana in the right home; a home with a lot of love to offer this little girl. Dana's foster mom, Danielle, also came along on the home visit and she too, was helpful and full of advice. Thank you so much Danielle! The adoption fee included three cans of grain free food, a car seatbelt, collar, leash and a single dosage of heartworm medication. Stacy gave us an accurate description of Dana's personality and was spot on. We received Dana's medical records including dental and her microchip information. Stacy, thank you so much for the love and dedication you pour into your rescue efforts. Because of you, Dana is now in her forever home. We can't thank you enough for bringing her into our life. She is taking lots of walks, enjoys her car rides and she even is friendly with the little pomeranian next door. Dana loves snuggling and she eagerly embraces all of the attention, and unconditional love we give her. If you are looking to rescue a small dog, I urge you to contact Stacy. I highly recommend Get A Life Pet Rescue and am confident you will have a positive experience too!

PREDATORY INTAKE & CONSUMER FRAUD ALERT!This operation (Sandy Paws Canine Rescue / Coco Chanel's…read moreKennel) at 4671 SW 26th Ter is a textbook puppy-flipping scam. They prey on emotionally vulnerable owners. We approached them when we were overwhelmed by our 12-week-old puppy Maximillian's severe BOAS (breathing issues) and Giardia. The operator, Desiree, used intense scare tactics over text, telling us his breathing was "really really bad" and that he needed immediate emergency surgery, coercing us into signing a surrender form under a completely fake/unregistered business name ("Coco Chanel's Kennel").The MOMENT they took physical possession of the puppy and his medical records, they wiped his history clean, left his story blank, and listed him on Adopt-a-Pet as a "perfectly healthy puppy" to flip him for a fast adoption fee. When confronted with the fraud, she told us to "stop texting her," threatened to block us, and manually marked him as "Adopted" to hide the listing from compliance tracking. They also rushed to reactivate their legally dissolved corporate status on Sunbiz at midnight just to cover their tracks. Reports have been filed with Broward County Animal Care, FDACS, and local law enforcement for grand theft under false pretenses and charity fraud (EIN: 88-2421333). Stay far away from these predators!

I've struggled with anxiety, and bringing her into my life has helped me more than I can put into words. She has such a gentle, loving presence, and simply being around her brings me so much comfort and peace. The adoption process itself was amazing everything was so smooth and easy. I still visit the humane society often just to look at the other animals, and I always pray that each one of them finds a loving home. I know many people prefer to adopt kittens, but I truly believe every animal deserves a chance, no matter their age.Fiona is seven years old, and she is absolute proof that older cats have so much love to give. Choosing her was one of the best decisions I've ever made, and I'm so grateful she's part of my life.

I am a firm believer in pet adoption, but the management system at the Humane Society of Broward is…read moreeither incredibly inconsistent or intentionally exclusionary. After driving from Miami on Thursday to meet a specific stray, we were told he couldn't be named or held until his stray period ended. My husband returned Saturday at 10:30 AM (before adoptions opened) to wait for him, only to be told again that the dog was "unnamed and unavailable." Yet, at 11:00 AM, a couple who arrived after my husband was immediately allowed to meet and adopt that same dog. To make matters more confusing, another dog (Elio) who had only been there two days was already named and had two holds placed on him. Why was one dog "off-limits" while another in the same situation was available for holds? We left feeling frustrated and hurt. While we wish "Tyson" and his new family the best, the lack of transparency and the "moving goalposts" regarding adoption rules make it feel like the system is being manipulated behind the scenes.

I had never been to an animal shelter before. I didn't know what to expect, so I was a bit nervous…read more The facilities here are modern and clean. You sign in at the front desk and then freely roam to look at animals. I didn't explore the dog areas, but there are several areas of cats, separated by fosters, kittens fresh from getting spayed/neutered, and older cats. Beware: you will want to take all of them home. There wasn't that many people there when I went, so I was able to spend a lot of time getting to know the kitties. I fell in love with a little tortie, but was worried when I saw that she had enlarged mammary glands (her lil tummy was shaved from her recent spaying). A worker in the cat room went above and beyond to help. She explained that the cat had probably recently had a litter and her milk hadn't dried up yet. But, just to make sure, without me even asking, she took the kitty back to get examined by their doctor. After confirming what I had been told, I scooped up that lil girl and adopted her ASAP. The adoption process was easy. Just a head's up: if the address on your ID is different than your current address, bring another thing with your current address on it (I used my car registration). When I went, the shelter had a promotion going on, sponsored by the Bissell Pet Foundation, so the adoption was free. Plus spaying/neutering, Broward County pet registration tag, microchip, and all necessary vaccinations are always included here when you adopt. I also got a cute "Gotcha Day" certificate and a free cardboard "cat-eau" :D Overall, I had a great experience adopting a new kitty from Broward County Animal Care and highly recommend that you check them out if you're looking for a new animal baby :)
