The day I fell for this bundle of energy
Tairyn A.

Last August, I went to Petsmart on Comercial blvd off of University Dr to possibly buy a turtle to be a companion for a newly adopted turtle I got from my sister. Instead, I walked out with a puppy! SOFLO Animal Rescue was holding a pet drive. They had all kinds of dogs, some older, one with only three legs. Some with serious abuse traumas, but in the midst of it all, they had three young puppy siblings. I soon latched on to one, who I was pretty set on getting, when a lady came in with her son and I was told that she had asked them to hold him for them. I was a little disappointed, but there was still another male puppy left. The runt of of the litter. He was so tiny that there was no vest that would fit him (most dogs were wearing harnesses) he was sleeping sweetly. He'll do, I thought. Once I held him and all of a sudden, this sleeping puppy became a Tazmanian devil intent on licking me to death. I fell in love! The process was a little too easy. I filled an application paid the $300 adoption fee and on my way I went. I was told the puppy was 8 weeks old, which is very young for a puppy to be adopted, but I understand they don't have space to house all these pups. I was told he and his siblings were found in a box under someone's mobile home. I knew I could care for him. I have two other dogs. One of them is a chihuahua who is also adopted. I was a little worried I would have to watch him. Not necessary, he became such a great big brother! Now, the harder part of the adoption came some weeks later when I was supposed to have the puppy fixed. I had to wait because how your he was. I was told my $300 would include vaccines, neuter and chip. I had to text and email a couple of times, finally I was given an appointment to bring him to the humane society. Once I got there They had no record of me having an appointment. Wanted me to pay in full, I explained the situation and finally they got Krystal on the phone and got payment. Only to be told the puppy was too young, one of his testicles had not dropped yet. Which means he was even younger that I initially thought. No biggie. I was told to wait another month. A month came and went, his testy never dropped, more emails and calles. I felt I was given the run around, I was already thinking I would have to cover all the cost. Which I was OK with, but to many people may be grounds to return the animal. Al the end of the whole ordeal. Crystal got a voucher from the city for me that partially covered the surgery. I had to pay for the chip (which was never mentioned after the first attempt to get him fixed) and the difference from a normal surgery to the full surgery he had because of his testicle never dropping. I ended up paying about $325 out of pocket. All in all it was over $600. Which is still good for a puppy. Now. I feel their heart is in the right place. They are trying to do the best for these animals and I feel as a new rescue, they were learning the ropes. Hopefully they are doing better. Would I consider to adopt from them again? Hard to say because I already have three dogs and I am bot looking to adopt another one. I wouldn't, not consider them. After all, even with all the mishaps, I can see they were trying their best. I can honestly say I cannot imagine my home without our Link!

Unfortunately, my most recent experience was the most disappointing of all. My dog was seen by Dr. Amaya, a doctor I had never met in all my years coming to this location. While checking my dog, he immediately began pointing out supposed issues with my dog's fur and even suggested his face looked "bitten." In six years, no other doctor at VCA has ever mentioned anything like this. This clinic repeatedly contacted me to come in for annual check and shots, so we went -- only for the doctor to immediately recommend a hormone test, claiming there was something wrong with his skin and coat. The sudden shift in tone and the push for additional testing felt untrustworthy and unsettling. After this experience, I no longer feel confident bringing my dog here. I do not trust this clinic with his care, and I cannot recommend VCA Stirling Conner.

My cat who is very shy, was left in her carrier for over 45 minutes while the vet technician was lecturing me on the care plan. Two weeks ago a cat nail trim was $23, now it's $29. Are you kidding me? Next time, I'll bring my cat to the nail salon. She can get a gel manicure for $35!

On the very same day my cat, Colt, experienced a major urinary emergency, my father suffered a massive stroke, which took his life just days later. I was pulled in two impossible directions at once, and the team at Wilton Manors Animal Hospital stepped in and carried me -- and my fur-baby -- through it... Their medical care for Colt was exceptional, but what I will never forget is the love, kindness, and emotional care they showed my family and me during the worst days of my life. A very special and prominent thank-you to Rashad, who made daily calls and left voicemails updating me on Colt's condition. He didn't just provide clinical updates -- he made sure I knew Colt was doing well, that I didn't need to worry, and that I should focus fully on my family and my father during his stroke and passing. That level of compassion is rare. It was genuine, steady, and deeply comforting when I needed it most. Colt is thriving today because of this incredible team, and I will be forever grateful. This is now -- without question -- my forever veterinary practice for all current and future pets. I truly cannot offer higher praise or deeper thanks for the care they showed my fur-baby and my family during our loss. From the bottom of my heart: thank you, The Hirt Family & Colt

Recently, I boarded my dogs there. Although I typically have them bathed prior to going home, I planned to do it myself this time. However, when I picked up my pups one had feces caked around his butt, urine all over his body, and mats throughout his coat. The next morning, after I attempted to wash and brush him, I met with the office manager and groomer. Instead of addressing the issue, they blamed me for the mats, claiming my dog had arrived in that condition. They suggested that this is why they recommend a bath before sending pets home. The blame and suggestion wasn't adding up. If this story doesn't deter you from using their services, please document your dog's condition before dropping them off. Ensure there is a review process in place, where both parties are aware of the condition of your pet. Know that while you're away, your pet could end up sitting in feces, covered in urine, and fully matted, and you might never know if you paid for an intensive bath. Our furry children can't speak up, it's our job to make sure they are well cared for. Emerald Hills Animal Hospital- as a supposed provider of care for our animals you must do better.

My sweet Kodah's time was coming to a close here on this earth. He was blind and deaf towards the end of his road and the last thing I wanted to do was to bring him to a vet where he could smell he was in an unfamiliar and uncomfortable place. Dogs know when they're at the vet. Dr. Ashley called and provided a 15 minute out. We said many goodbyes and shed a lot Of hard tears within these last 15 minutes and more when the time was ready. She arrived and was so gentle and soft spoken. Comforting my mom and I during such a heartbreak. Pets are family and we were so lucky to have our sweet pup for 15 and a half years. I rescued him when he was 3months and he ALWAYS had a smile. Dr. Ashley answered our questions, Let us talk about Kodah's life, and explained very gently on what she would be doing and the next steps of administering final breaths. It was comforting to know he was with us and not in a cold unfamiliar place. I cannot thank lap of love of this experience because my mom had a terrible experience with a vet who put her dog down about 2 years ago that I also reviewed on yelp. They work with another company monarch for cremation and has been really easy to manage this whole Process. I wanted to also thank the 2 women that I spoke to on the phone during questions and also when it was time to schedule an appointment. It was a seamless process and easy transaction. It may be a little expensive for some people, but I think I saw they take care credit but honestly giving your pet the comfort and peace of being in their home is worth every $ Fly high Kodah ‍

PLEASE READ THIS!!!…read more If you're reading this, it likely means you're facing one of the hardest decisions we pet lovers ever have to make...and my heart is with you. I hope our experience helps offer you some peace and guidance during this time. Dr. Jordan was truly heaven-sent. I honestly cannot imagine a more gentle, compassionate, and kind soul to walk us through such a heartbreaking and emotional experience. Saying goodbye to our sweet fur baby, Chanel, was devastating, but Dr. Jordan made it as peaceful and loving as it could possibly be. Like you, we read some of the negative reviews first. But after going through this ourselves, I can confidently say those comments don't reflect the truth of Dr. Jordan's care. I can only imagine those reviewers were deep in grief, and that pain shaped their perception. Dr. Jordan explained every step with patience and tenderness, helping us understand exactly what to expect. Thankfully, Chanel wasn't scared--she didn't yelp or flinch--and we were able to hold her close in comfort. Of course, every animal is different, and responses may vary, but in our case, it was calm and gentle. If you are in the position of making this decision now, I am so deeply sorry. But please know: you will be in compassionate hands with Dr. Jordan. He truly felt like an angel during one of the most difficult moments of our lives.
