True story: I was in the Dogwood post office yesterday, at one of the two functioning counters…read moreafter a fairly long wait in line. Some dude--maybe 18 or 19--walks up to the other counter, plunks down a brown paper sack of what sounded like nuts and bolts, and declares, "I've never mailed anything before. Can I just put some stamps on this and mail it?" Swear to Zeus, this happened. I wanted to take three sidesteps and knock the dumbassery out of him, but figured anybody that has attained the age of majority and is that ignorant of a quotidian task probably clings to that ignorance with mighty desperation, the way I cling to the armrests of my seat the entire time that I'm in an airplane that isn't motionless. Look. Great customer service doesn't include suffering the hijinks of people too stupid to find their ass with both hands and Rand McNally providing helpful hints. Those people are thieves of my time and the time of every other customer. Instead of giving them instructions in excruciating detail, a terse, "No, put the bag in an envelope, address it, then bring it back" would suffice. Or call a manager to deal with people like that. I didn't get to hear everything that was said betwixt the PO guy and the idjit, because I had six packages to mail and was engaged in adult activities. The dude was still getting schooled when I walked out, though. As I intimated in my previous review, it's primarily the brain-dead customers who roll up into this location that are the problem here. I have a solution, if only the USPS will listen. Install some TVs in the lobby that play instructional cartoons...make them colorful and noisy and full of rapid motion, the sorts of things that attract and mesmerize morons and small children. No "Thank you!" required. I'm just helpful like that.

The people here are awesome!!!! I sell on eBay and come here a lot…read more The postmaster is super friendly, and has helped me solve a few order mix ups. I got my Gloom back, but never my Maushold! But it's okay, I found another one soon after that whole ordeal. Joe, the lead clerk, is funny as heck and will give it to you straight. He has offered up some valuable resources to me, a nerd who at first admittedly had no idea what he was doing. Andrew is the man, super friendly and definitely has management material written all over him if he's not at that level yet. There are a few other clerks whose names escape me, but this team is solid. Did I mention the mail carriers? The ones who deliver to my apartment gave me their numbers so I can call them if I ever have any issues with the nerdy crap being delivered to me. I'm sure the eBay sellers I purchase from appreciate that... To my tall friend, and I'll get your name again next time - save me a sealed ETB if you ever find 2 of something cool!!!!! Not enough good things to say about this place. Selling on eBay has shown me the other side of customer interactions... it is frustrating when a customer is accusatory when you have your bases covered, but I guess that's human nature? Idk.... No excuses. Just a reminder to whoever reads this to be patient, we all have our own unique lives we're leading. To the PM, good luck with your little one on the way!

I judge the level of customer service by how I feel about my interaction with the postal service employees. Unfortunately, this particular location is hampered from being high-performing by at least one employee (caucasian woman) that I interacted with this morning at the front. Her advice regarding how to ship my item was satisfactory (reason for getting 2 stars). However, her general tone felt negative and cynical. I became confused on the timing of the payment for my shipping material, and then she became condescending publicly, which of course made me feel humiliated (even for the brief moment that it occurred). I imagine the local USPS leadership that will read this review will know exactly who I am talking about based on my description of the employee and the interaction (apologies for not getting a name). They will have to weigh the importance of customer service relative to technical skill as it relates to the successful operation of a USPS location. Given that she is likely technically sound, will you just "look away" from the negative behavior?
