The best thing about this post office is it's open on Saturday. The two closest post offices to my home, Midtown post office on W Peachtree St (https://www.yelp.com/biz/u-s-post-office-atlanta-3) and Martech post office on Marietta St (https://www.yelp.com/biz/martech-postal-store-atlanta), are closed on Saturday. This post office, Civic Center, is the next best option for me. It's open from 9am to 3pm on Saturday. I visited around 12:30pm on a Saturday. The post office wasn't very busy at this time on this particular Saturday. There were two workers helping customers from behind the counter. There were only two people in front of me in line with two being helped at the counter. I got in line in at 12:32pm and was seen by 12:35pm. The line moved fast. I just needed to mail out something in a large envelope. I was charged 50 cents total for First-Class Mail. I paid with credit card. I was given a detailed printed receipt showing an expected delivery date of Monday. It was quick, just one business day. Granted, the delivery address was local (Atlanta). The postal employee who helped me was polite and very efficient. This post office has about 15 free parking spots out front. It's located across the street from Publix at Piedmont. Like most post offices I've been to, this one is old, boring, and drab, but at least it gets the job done. read more

Horrible. On Thursday 12/26, around 4:00pm, the place was closed. I returned on Friday, 12/27 and she pulled down the metal fence and closed it as I walked in. She has also gone to lunch and returns 30-40 mns after the sign on the door and was very very rude to all of us waiting in line! I've been by twice this week trying to check PO box mail and they're closed during regular business hours. No notes on the door for explanations or anything, just closed with people standing outside waiting and then eventually leaving. Let's just say that this Post Office sucks. I always try to make sure everything I do at this location can be done without needing and/or speaking to an employee as they, generally, are rude. My latest visit was no exception. I walked in at 5:10pm on a Monday. The area that sells stuff, boxes and the like, was closing up for the day. There were 2 employees behind the main counter moving stuff around and doing other busy work as there were no customers, I was the only person inside besides them. I walked up to the counter and placed a large stack (too big for the mail slot) on the counter and said out loud, knowing both employees heard me, "I have outgoing, should I just put it here?" I was motioning to the counter I was leaning on at the time. BOTH of these employees pretended as if they didn't hear me in a dead quiet building with no music or talking. Finally, I repeated myself again, but louder. The one employee snapped her head around and mumbles, "just put it there" and motioned to where I had it on the counter with her head. Her response was FULL of attitude. Her tone with me was if it was my fault she works in a declining industry making decent money with excellent benefits and a ridiculous amount of paid holidays. This attitude and demeanor are NOT atypical for this location. Moral of the story: Use a different location, if at all possible. Also, I have been accosted by homeless people every single time I have entered this location, which is definitely over 5. read more

I had a shipment that I was waiting for from Amazon. They did not deliver my cargo, I called customer service and asked for it to be delivered again, but it still did not arrive. I asked the customer representative where I could pick up my cargo and she gave me this address. I went here and there was an elderly lady there who told me another address in a very rude way. This has to be the worst post office in town. The employees are always rude. They weigh each package and if it's off by 1 oz want to charge you for a new label. I have a business account with a preapproved debt card on file. They are suppose to scan it and ship if it's an issue I get charged on the backend. Let's say you over put the weight they won't credit you like they are suppose to. Trust me just avoid this location, go to another or use fedex. Also they always have a line. So you have to wait 30-45 mins before you even get to witness the rudeness and attitudes they give. read more

Short of the homeless shelter down the street, I think this might be the saddest place in Atlanta. It's no wonder the USPS is having problems. Even with the advent of sites like eBay and Overstock and all the rest, the USPS still hasn't figured out how to be profitable - and in the process, has forgotten what it means to service customers. This isn't a new occurrence - I know lots of folks have been having this type of experience. But it bears repeating: I waited 30 minutes to pick up a package, and even then, it was absolute agony. We're being waited on postal workers who are visibly, palpably weighted down by years of neglect, professional regret and so many other bad-karma issues. They are disgruntled, grumbly and gruff and no series of niceties or platitudes will rescue them from it. I don't know how to inject joy in a joyless enterprise - all I can say is that It's still just sad here. And there's absolutely no reason for it - people are still sending packages. This place is surprisingly overstaffed for the volume of customers that come here. They seem to have 2-3 employees working, so it's easy to get in and out of here despite their lack of an Automated Postal Center. I actually forgot all about this location and only remembered after stopping at Walgreens across the street. I planned to leave there and go to the one on W. Peachtree. I'm glad I saw it because I saved some time running errands today. From the outside it looks closed because the windows are tinted, giving it the appearance of being deserted. Don't let that fool you because they're inside and ready to help. Also, the counters are surprisingly clean, well stocked, and free of debris. When does that ever happen?? This Post Office on 570 Piedmont Ave NE is the worse one I have been to. The service there is really bad! It is in my neighborhood and I keep giving it a try due to the location convenience, but keep getting very bad experience. I went there the week of Christmas at 4.45 pm and there was a man at the door turning people away saying the office need to close early today...the clerks just wanted to leave earlier although the office is supposed to be open till 5pm, and it was not one of these days they had a special hours of operation. The I went on 12/31 to process some certified mail (like 25 letters) and the clerk told me she is not going to do it as it is too much work for her!!! Just for the records there was no one in the office, it was not busy and it was around 1 pm, when she had 4 more hours to work before she close. But she said it is too much work to process all the certified mail I needed to send. OMG, isn't that her job? Isn't the post office a government facility and as a citizen that pay taxes in this country I have rights to go and use that facility, but she said ''I am not going to do it, it is too much work! '' I went to a Post office in Sandy Springs and a very nice man there assisted me with my mail, it took him 15-20 min, but he helped me out. I've never seen any reason to rate what we all know to be an abysmal place. The U.S Postal Service is hell on earth, but until the system collapses and is replaced with telepathy and sprinkles, it's all we've got. My encounter at this Post Office today has ensured, however, that I no longer use the Post Office for anything larger than a letter or weighing more than 3 ounces. I had the unfortunate fate of needing Saturday service and this is one of the few locations providing it. I shipped a shoe box-sized package, artfully decorated. I've been sending mail art for years. I've even worked for the Post Office. I know how this shit works. Despite my years of experience and first hand knowledge, I was shocked and dismayed when the callous and sadistic woman behind the counter slapped priority stickers ON TOP of all the art -- with three other clean sides available. Bitch buffed me. Typically, I apply the priority stickers myself to avoid this sort of idiocy. But this location didn't have them available except to the window clerks themselves. I know working there sucks monkey gonads, and that's unfortunate, but I now take sweet, sweet pleasure in that. My mail art will now be delivered by bike couriers with questionable backgrounds and charming smiles. read more

Oh man! I hate this place. I used to sell pretty heavily on eBay, and this place was my most dreaded daily excursion. I know post offices are notorious for bad service, but this one is the worst. They rarely have more than one person working the counter and lines just build up no matter what time of the day. The lady who wears a tie there is extremely unpleasant to deal with. With this location serving such a large area, one would think they would do something about the wait problem. Go to the post office on Howell Mill and see how overstaffed they are. People at every station and never a line! There is only one plus to this location. That is Mosha. Mosha works at the counter, and if you go here, you will know exactly who she is. She is overly friendly/smiley/pleasant. She realizes how bad the service is and goes out of her way to make it better. No matter how rude a customer is to her, she is just as friendly as can be. 14. That's the number of times I've called this post office today and either gotten a busy signal or waited for five minutes and had no one answer. I'm not kidding. Five entire minutes of listening to "bring bring bring bring bring." Even typing it is annoying. And how can this place be alternating between no one answering AND busy signals? Because I've submitted two change of address forms, been on the phone with my old post office, and spoken to someone at the main postal office number, and everyone agrees that this 570 Piedmont place is the reason I haven't received any mail in a month. SLOW This has been my post office for over a decade. I give it 2 stars for its convenient location and free parking. That's where the compliments end. There are typically panhandlers waiting like pigeons at the entrance, many of whom are aggressive. This post office has a convenient location for me, so it's the one I use most often when needing to mail packages and buy special stamps. I usually come at 4:30pm on weekdays, because they close at 5pm. Though the lines are usually long at this time, it's never taken more than 20 minutes. There is one clerk here in particular who is absolutely amazing in getting people through fast! She is the younger, tall African American clerk with the shorter straight hair that works the weekday afternoon shift. If any post office managers are reading this (ha! yeah right), she deserves a raise and a promotion because she is so good at serving customers quickly and with a smile. In fact, she'll even give you the secret free packing tape they keep behind the counter if your package doesn't look quite secure. However, the rest of the experience here is quite lackluster. Their scales are always broken, they're frequently out of the flat-rate priority and express boxes and envelopes in certain sizes, and they never have any pens if you need to finish writing an address. Though they do have a small, free parking lot, which is nice, you are guaranteed to be asked for money by at least two homeless people (one on your way in, one on your way out) while you are walking from your car to the door. read more

There is always a couple of men (i think they're men..) that stand outside and open the door for change. This has to be one of the most unprofessional post office locations I have EVER been too. The older lady that was working there on 9-11-19 at 12:41pm is the worse of them all. Her attitude was so nasty and she snatched my box from me, upset I assume (because she had an attitude when I got called up) because I was reusing a priority box and wanted to place label over old label. She got mad at me and said scratch the old label out, I was like I'm placing the new label over the old one...but I just laughed and said ok, because it was obvious she was having some sort of mental breakdown. I scratched it out, then placed the new label over it and couldn't' see the old label anymore. When taking it back up to the desk as instructed she snatched the box from my hands ripped off my new label and started with so much rage scratching out more of the old label, then she placed the new label back on the box and you couldn't see what I or her scratched out...because the new label was covering EVERYTHING. So then I paid for priority 2 day shipping and she informed me that even though the United States postal service charges you to guarantee your package gets to your destination by a certain day it is not guaranteed. She basically let me know she wasn't sending my package to my location on time, BUT I still paid for the 2 day shipping. Well here we are day 4 and the package has still yet to arrive. I have NEVER had this happen with any other package and this package is in the same state only 2 hours up the road. I have sent things to other states and its has gotten to them. So guess what ladies and gentlemen it is obvious this nasty woman tampered with my package , took my money, and the package is either stolen or never going to be received. This is NOT the end of them hearing from me on this. Just because a worker hates their job and hates their life they take it out on the customer and throw away or steal packages.
