My daughter and I took the basic/intro pistol class. Dan was easy to work with and accommodated my tricky schedule. Dan advised me what kind/where to get ammo. As I own zero firearms, Dan let me and my daughter shoot with a couple of his. The private ranch/range where we shot is secluded and beautiful. Sergio Leone would have loved this place. After getting us comfortable with the basic safety and operation of the weapon we were to shoot, Dan showed us how to put the bullet on the intended target and worked with us -using repetition and feedback- until this happened. Dan had an assistant/photographer, Lisa, help him out. Lisa made the day even more smooth and efficient. So after all was said-and-done, I had a blast. I just completed the basic pistol course with United Shooting Solutions yesterday and it was an amazing learning experience and a fun day! Can't remember when I had so much fun in a day! Dan was very detailed and went through various aspects of safety and gun handling before we started with the actual course. He looked at every aspect from how I held the pistol and helped me learn how to detect problems in the way I was shooting and how to correct them. We started with the very basics and Dan did not rush me. When he felt I was comfortable with the very basics, he gradually increased the complexity and which helped me improve my skill. The best part was that it was 1:1, so I had enough time to ask questions and he was more than willing to answer them and explain more. I spent about 6 hours one on one with Dan that started with safety rules and shooting techniques to a very detailed demonstration of how to clean my HK P2000. We then moved to actual shooting and all I can say is that Dan is a fantastic instructor. Being a private lesson, every shot was analyzed and critiqued in a very positive way. My review is long overdue, but Dan is most deserving of an excellent review. I recently purchased a semi-automatic handgun after committing to handling it safely, shooting accurately, and learning proper cleaning/maintenance. I had no previous experience with semi-automatics, just occasionally with shotguns, hunting rifles, and revolvers many, many years ago. After extensive research, I selected Dan because he was a former law enforcement officer as well as a shooting instructor for police officers. Dan is also a fun guy who tells great stories of his previous experiences. He patiently explained and showed me the proper techniques for safely handling and cleaning my firearm. I like to ask questions and he was very knowledgeable, especially, about the legal requirements of gun ownership. I also had a private lesson at his remote firing range. I am hard of hearing and wear a BAHA hearing aid. During the live fire exercises, i would have to remove my hearing aid each time. Dan adapted his teaching methods by providing me with protective ear muffs with built-in amplifiers, and using hand signals during firing practice. By the end of the day, Dan had me drawing my weapon up smoothly and safely on target, and hitting the kill zones consistently. After that day on the firing range, I knew that I would be returning for more shooting lessons with Dan. If you are a neophyte and are serious about firearms training, I strongly recommend Dan as I doubt you are going to find better. read more

Dan is an amazing instructor, who has over 30 years of Law Enforcement experience. Instructor Dan is knowledgeable, professional and makes working with him enjoyable. I am a Police Recruit and I was having some trouble with my drawstroke and sight alignment. Dan Identified these problems within the the first few rounds I fired on my first day and began to fix my problems. He has many different targets set up on the range and takes me through a variety of drills, some of which are combat, dot drills for accuracy and increase stress drills. Dan uses the time talk to me about real life situations and has me practice different ways to kneel or stand as I shoot. Dan has taken me under his wing, which I appreciate, and gives me dry fire homework to work on away from the range. I have been shooting with Dan for months and have seen a major improvement in my accuracy and confidence. read more

When you get home and your smile goes on and on! Dan is not only a fantastic instructor, he is also a great person with lot of amazing stories and humor. The conversations started way before any course was booked. Dan is very responsive is it by phone, text or email. Not an easy thing during these difficult times (COVID-19). As we started with a classroom session, safety comes always first and Dan goes thru some most important item at the speed you need. During this initial session, Dan recognizes the areas on where to tackle and moves to some dry exercises as applicable. His sharing of tips and tricks right from the start was much appreciated; it helped to improve my range practicing a lot. With the follow-up during the range day, he figured some of my "issues" immediately. No time wasted, with his experience he provides insightful advice to improve my performance as we progressed. We found more than that in Dan - he is a great guy, retired LEO, and an AMAZING instructor. Great instructor with safety as the priority at all times. Dan is a great teacher creating not only a fun environment but making sure you know the why and how to properly handle a gun and most importantly to stop and think what you want out of the class.
