UPDATE- Met with United Rent A Car yesterday and they made thing's right. The owner was very nice and he did his best to fix the problem.

These guys pretty much saved the day for us. We were stuck in Ridgecrest and just needed a van for 5 hours. After calling all the "big" name brand rental companies first, we landed on United. First of all, they actually had someone answer the phone instead of going through multiple options on a recording (like the other guys). They were so helpful and fast. Both vehicles we rented were in great shape, clean and ready to go. Proving family owned is almost always a better experience for the customer. read more

They seem very polite but they they have employees that aren't sure what they're doing. I had to pay a 300 dollar deposit when I rented a car. Got the car on a half a tank. Returned it with more than a half of a tank and they charge my account 75 dollars. When I called they said it was a gas fee. I asked to speak with a manager and they weren't around. Left my name and number never got a call back. I tried calling 4 times and still never spoke with a manager. Nor did I get a call back. People around town told me not to rent from here but I thought I would give them a chance anyway... DO NOT RENT FROM HERE IF YOU DO NOT WANT AN OVER CHARGE ON YOUR BANK ACCOUNT.! read more

WORST CAR RENTAL PLACE IVE EVER DEALT WITH! Rented a car November 20 at 11am. I wanted to return the 21st but was told it was only 24 rental and if I didn't return the car by 11am that I would be charged extra. So without question I payed for an extra day. When doing the walk around there were scratches all over the car, around the trunk area and on the bottom of the car on the passenger side. I specifically asked that they be noted and was told that they were. I returned the car the next day at 1:55 pm right before closing and the employee working did not get up to come outside and look at the car. I was told my deposit would be put back on my credit card and it never was. I have been calling and spoken with people but everyone gives me the runaround. I was given someone's cell phone number and have texted multiple times and no one has gotten back to me and I still don't have my deposit! This place is a joke! I'm out $250 right before the holidays for damage that was already on the car when I rented it and that I specifically asked be written down! DONT RENT FROM HERE!! read more

The amount of hoops I'm having to jump though to get a refund on my UHaul rental is down right ridiculous. Drove it probably 5 miles total before I Couldn't stand the smell anymore. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING strong cat urine smell. Was told by customer service to go ahead and return it and I'd be refunded (I didn't have a pen on me to write down her name but made the representative promise she was putting detailed notes on my account.) Well the refund just hit my account and it's $70 short. Called again and was told that there was a lack of communication between customer service and the location because I didn't call to follow up (and also there wasn't much they could do because I didn't have the name of the person who said I would get a full refund). I'm sorry. I didn't know I needed to call and b**ch to your employees in order for things to actually get taken care of. I tried being understanding but I guess that just means they get to cheat me. Well here I am complaining so maybe they'll actually do something now. According to customer service I need to wait three business days for the manager here to get back to me.
