During my prolonged road trip the "battery discharge" icon lit up my dashboard on a Sunday evening. Concerned it was the alternator since the battery was new, I called first thing on a Monday morning and I was told they would look at it and if the alternator needed replaced, they could fix it that day. Despite appearing fully booked with business, I was greeted as soon as I arrived, and within minutes Uriel was under the hood assessing the situation. 45 minutes later I got the "everything checks out, possibly just a loose battery cable connection" which was corrected. Now the UNBELIEVABLE part... they did not charge me!!! 45 minutes of diagnostic work and when I went to pay, Al's (service desk) response was, "No charge, we didn't fix anything". IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT!!! Empathetic to my plight, expeditious, honest and generous...! Gentlemen at D. George's auto repair, you're the best! With gratitude, Faith (my 1999 4 Runner) and I are in your debt! read more

These guys are fantastic. My Jeep had a mechanical failure on the way from San Diego to Death Valley and was towed to Dennis George Automotive. Al took care of everything and got it back on the road within a few days. They could very easily have charged exorbitant amounts (as I was stuck), but they didn't - the pricing was fair. They are all very friendly too, which matters - you feel like a valued customer. Definitely recommended! read more

Super great service explained everything in a way that even a person who knows nothing about cars could understand. Were very kind to drive me home & pick me up again to get my car once it was finished. Super fast! Got my car within one day. They are closed weekends read more

Very friendly people but can be more expensive than the dealership on some things. I've had decent experiences with oil changes here. My boyfriend has also used them without issue and I'm mostly basing the stars in this review on past experience rather than the most recent, not so great one. My alternator went out, so I called them and they squeezed me in despite being really busy. I took it in on a Thursday morning around 11am. Never got a text or anything so the following day, in the afternoon, I called them and they confirmed it was the alternator. They told me they could order a replacement and it would be there by Tuesday and they could have it installed by Wednesday. I got a call Monday evening letting me know they hadn't even ordered the alternator yet. So knowing it would probably be another week before I got my car back, I explored other options. Dennis George said it would be around $729 to get a replacement alternator. I called Toyota and they told me a replacement alternator would be about $370...So I just paid Dennis George $65 for the inspection(Never got pictures or anything just a verbal "Yeah it's the alternator.") and took my car to the dealership instead. After labor, the dealership had me out the door for $530. read more

I started using Dennis George Automotive several years ago. They worked on my BMW 328d starting with oil changes etc. They have always been friendly and professional. They service all of my vehicles now. I have never been dissappointed with anything they have done. Prices are competitive and service better than most anyplace in town, as well as price. All personnel that work there are super and you are greeted warmly when you walk through the door. Thank you for all you do guys! read more

Be very careful. They tried to take advantage of me with an expensive quote after diagnosis for a job that was unnecessary.

When it's 3pm on a Friday, you're in from out-of-town, and you need to head back home later in the weekend, you don't expect much luck when your 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser develops a whine in the engine. However, Jeff at Dennis George Automotive not only came out to diagnose the issue, he sourced the replacement, part and then came in on his day off to ensure that we were able to continue our travel plans without missing a beat. This is a type of excellence in customer service that you dream about and you are so lucky to have here. While your car needs may not be as dire as ours, I believe that you will be just as satisfied with the service and professionalism. read more

Bonnie was super helpful. She squeezed me in- in spite of being down a mechanic. I was suggested to come in a 8, which I did. Walked to Denny's & got a text. The details of my service were included. It included pictures. Jeff was super helpful & friendly. He did not let me leave without my coat. Overall, I wish I lived here because I would be back. You never know when you are working a temp job. I just want to say a huge "thank you" for a job well done. read more

Fast and friendly service, really cool employees. Their customer service is bar none. Feels like your visiting family or old friends. Everyone seems like they enjoy working there and have fun. Very thorough in what they do and very accommodating. I work in construction at the navy base so my truck needs a lot of care and whenever I've had issues, even if they're very minor, they've always taken very good care of me. read more

Amazing service! On my way down from an hour away in Lake Isabella when the splash shield under my car started dragging. I called to see if they could help me get it off and they told me to drive right over. They stopped what they were doing and did it right away! They refused to take any money. You don't get that often. I really appreciated what they did for me. They will be on top of my list if I need work done in the future. read more

I cannot recommend this place enough! My van broke down in the middle of a roadtrip and I had it towed to Dennis George's midday on a Tuesday. By Wednesday morning (in less than 24hrs) they had it back up and running and I was on my way. Dennis even gave me a ride to my hotel when I arrived. Not only was the service efficient, well done, and reasonably priced, but I also really enjoyed the kindness of both Dennis and Al in the shop. They recommended places I check out on my roadtrip (you were right Al, Convict Lake is amaaaaazing) and had me hitting the road feeling calm and confident in the necessary repair. 5 star service, no question. Thank you so much! read more

Dennis George Automotive - The view at Convict Lake - wowww. Thanks for this recommendation while I waited on the van! - Auto Repair Near Me - Ridgecrest, California

Heading to Death Valley. Truck started acting up. Check engine light came on. Called AAA. They recommended this shop. We pulled in. Explained the problem. Jeff came out and hooked it to a portable machine. Diagnosed and had the problem fixed quickly. Had us back on the road in no time!!! So honest! Saved the vacation. Wish we lived closer. We would use them for our auto mechanic. read more

I was told it could be a week or two before they got to my vehicle, but one of the workers went in early and ran a diagnostic. He found it was an easy fix and was able to return my car the next day! Great honest service!!! read more

I went in for a repair for a vehicle I had bought locally, Jeff was straight up and totally honest with me . I wish I had taken the truck to him before I bought it from what turns out to be the most dishonest and lying person I've meet in a long time . Jeff told me it was a money pit and would never be a reliable vehicle. And it would cost far more money to fix it than it was worth, he then went on to recommend a couple of salvage yards that would buy it and he also recommended a used car dealer that he thought highly of . I will continue to work with Jeff and DENNIS GEORGE GARAGE as long as I still am able to drive . I thank him for his honesty and his crew for their work and fantastic customer care and service. read more

We've been taking our vehicles to Dennis George for decades. With a dozen cars over the years (we have a lot of drivers), they've had ample opportunity to make a mistake or inflate an invoice. They haven't done it once! Instead, they never recommend doing frivolous work, always let us know of something they caught while fixing something else, and do the work quickly, completely, and within or below estimate. read more

If you've read my other reviews, you'll realize I'm very particular about my cars. The only time somebody else gets to work on them is when I'm not competent enough to do it myself (so anything beyond normal maintenance). I was debating my options when I found a pinhole on the driver's side CV boot of my 07 Accord. I could bring it to a big city dealer or indie shop, but it would be a hassle to be without a car that far away. Or I could just bring it to this place 2 blocks from my house and walk home. After consulting with other picky car nuts in town, I thought the second option would do just fine. When I went in, I asked them a bunch of questions: Can I supply my own parts? - No, we don't take customer supplied parts. Where do you get your parts from? - Lancaster Honda delivers them to us (or whatever AV dealer would service your car). How much would it cost? - We need to inspect it first, to validate your complaint. I prefer this attitude, shows they care about their name and reputation. [After inspection] Should I replace the axle too? - No,if it's not making noise, keep the factory axle in there, they are good quality parts. All of those just gave me the impression that they're probably going to do a decent job, and they're not trying to decimate my bank account. So, I left it for them in the morning, in the drop-off box on their door before their opened. By the time I came home from work, they were done, as promised. The bill came out to less than they had originally estimated due to the Honda dealer charging them less for parts. The work looked good - no greasy seats, floor mats or steering wheel to be found. And the work was obviously done carefully - 20,000 miles later, the original axle hasn't made a noise yet. They are not cheap nor particularly expensive, and I would still ask them a few questions if I have to use them again, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. read more

On 9-9-15 at about 2 pm I took my 1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara to them to have a new rear tailpipe with silencer that installed I had purchased online. The manager, John, took it in immediately and I had an estimate for about $95.00 for (1 hour of flat rate) to be completed the same day. I was given a ride home. John called about an hour or so later and said the front brake pads were completely gone and asked did I want them to be replaced and have the rotors resurfaced. I said OK. I had put the last front pads on myself several year ago. He had the car done by about 10 am the next morning. ALWAYS great service! I've been taking this car to them since 2001 for smog tests and other work. About a year ago they replaced both front axle/CV joint assemblies and boots. After the parts arrived i took the car in at the appointed day & time. I even loaned them my factory Suzuki shop service manual. Later that day, Dennis caught an error of a missing seal and I got my car back properly repaired the next morning. Great job! read more

My first experience with Dennis George Automotive was in 2011, after my do-it yourself brake job had gone horribly wrong. They did such a great job repairing my mess for an amazing price. I had heard horror stories of mechanics taking advantage of people and as a single mom, I needed someone trustworthy and honest. I found them! Every time I have needed anything from an oil change to complicated problems with my hybrid, they have done an incredible job. I highly recommend them!! read more
