The manager Jim Saaty and his wife are the nicest people. I have rented cars with them a couple of times in the past years, and they have always been so accommodating and professional. Jim helped me in a situation one time when my car was impounded by the police. It was a long, lengthy process and costly for me. But Jim was always so helpful and professional.No matter how many times I called and ranted and raved about how much everything was costing me, he was patient and explained the process no matter how many times I asked. Incompetent staff. Received a car with major dents, noted on the rental agreement addendum, yet was sent to collections because the damage was never indicated in their system. It's now my burden, 3 weeks later to produce the carbon copy (pink slip) of that. Avis should have access to the top copy they kept, yes? No-- Avis is saying they don't ever have access to those documents. That makes no sense. How would you know the status of the car before I drove it, if you did not have that report. Swindlers. Expensive. Awful customers service. Huge shout out to the guy at the front desk wearing the NY GIANTS polo! You've completely wrecked my week, and possibly my credit score-- over a pre damaged Kia forte. Would rate a 0 for Avis rental car as a whole, this company has gone down the drain. If you rent a car online and prepay be prepared to put a $250 deposit down on top of the rental oh did you know Avis does a credit check and it it's not a 680 ( pulled of their site in fine print and hidden) don't bother trying to rent they will just deny you. Any debit card deposits subject to credit check and if you do a deposit with a credit card it's $300-$800, in addition you are 100% not likely to get the car you booked. Booked an intermediate and was about to be given a compact suv, I get it's an upgrade but didn't ask for it or want it, booked the small sedan for a reason due to the gas mileage convince. Avis needs to be way more transparent. The Ridgecrest location it's self didn't have an issue with the but customer service clerks can use some training in the service part. read more

I would like to use this review to publicly thank Jim from the Ridgecrest AVIS agency. With a great deal of difficulty, due to a major problem with the rented car, we were able to arrive in Ridgecrest late on the plane we were supposed to take from Los Angeles (where I was to return the car that had broken down). Jim took our matter to heart and after more than half an hour spent trying to convince the AVIS helpdesk by pleading our case, he finally delivered one of his agency's cars allowing us to arrive just in time at the Los Angeles airport to catch our plane. Stood in line for 30 min in 103 degree weather, was told I could rent a certain size vehicle at 3pm after service, went back and the clerk conveniently got a recall call on the vehicle 10 min prior to my arrival. I looked up the vehicle and there hasn't been a recall in over a year. This was an emergency, I have a huge family and our plans were unexpectedly cut short because our vehicle started acting up this morning... will never try to rent from here again. read more

We broke down outside of Ridgecrest on our family road trip on a Saturday evening after all rental car companies had closed. I would give it 0 if I could. Customer service is horrible. They didn't even give me a total and they were already swiping my card. They didn't explain either that there's a $200 deposit. I used the car for 6 hours and they charged me $177. The teenage girl has a serious attitude problem and the manager acts like he doesn't care about anything. read more

This is the only place I'll ever rent from in Ridgecrest. Been renting here for years and I've never had a bad experience. The rental agents are always super helpful and fun to talk to. The customer service is what brings be back every time. The two owners are amazing people as well. No complaints on the cars either, they usually have a pretty good selection. read more

I rented a number of times from Avis and never really appreciate how fine a job they do. The cars were always clean, full tank, and ready to go when I was. The staff was always friendly, efficient, and willing to help. I since have switched employers and now have to deal with one of Avis' competitors. Man, do I miss Avis. At the other place I have never had a full tank of gas when I picked up the car, 50% of the time there is an idiot light on ("check tires", "check engine", ...). I guess it's human nature to not appreciate something until you no longer have it. I really miss the quiet competence of Ridgecrest Avis and look forward to when I'll be allowed to use them for travel again. read more

Based on today's phone service I would like to give 0 stars, based on previous experience they would have received 4 stars. I called today to get a quote (after first checking their online price); the price quoted was 10.00 higher than the online price. When I asked about this, I was told to book online. I then asked if she knew my loyalty number, or whatever they call it, and she rudely told me "no... we don't store people that way".... called Enterprise got a friendly and helpful guy and a lower price too... Don't give them a reason to over charge you cause they will. Make sure to detail the car yourself cause it'll cause you 250 plus later. They may tell you about charging you but you'll never see a bill for it till it hits the credit card. Not a fan of finding charges on my card & not have a invoice. read more
