Long overdue review incoming…read more I really like this wine shop. They have another location in Jersey City that i have not been to yet. I have gone to this location more than several times in since 2023 and I have to say, I really do enjoy coming to this shop. It's a tight space, but large enough for the inventory it holds. Everything is clearly labeled and I'm always greeted by the employee on shift. I'm not one to interact with sales associates. I prefer to search on my own, but on the occasion that I have asked for help or accepted their help, it's been well received and useful. They don't chatter at you at all and the prices are fair. They have a wonderful wine tasting on Fridays that I keep saying I'll attend but it hasn't happened yet. They also offer beverages on tap and a limited selection of snacks. For as long as I'm comfortable coming in and out of the store, I will continue to shop here and give them my money.

This is one of the best wine/port shops I've found in the greater NYC area. The store is a…read morefull-service beer/wine/liquor store, including everything from $500/bottle port to $5/bottle single-serve bottles of J.D. The wines and port are overwhelmingly Spanish and Portuguese, as befits the neighborhood. The guys who run the place know their products well and are great at picking out exactly what you need. This is the source of the 5-star rating. I can't browse in there for more than a minute or so without one of the proprietors coming over to ask me what I want. I tell him, "I'm looking for a late-bottled vintage port around $40," and he will then select a bottle or two, ask me how many cases (har har), and ring me up. I don't think I've spent more than 8 minutes in the store, ever. And every selection they've made has been spot-on. If you're in the market for good port, don't be afraid to get on the PATH and come out to Oporto... it's only about 8 blocks from the station, and you'll get to experience the really nice part of Newark... the Ironbound. The restaurants around Oporto just smell amazing, and you'll want to come back here for the food after you buy all your good ports.

I had the Jaeger schnitzel, paired with a Warsteiner Octobetfest and then a Redd's Hofbrau. The schnitzel was a bit overdone, but the sauce was excellent. The spaetzle was a bit different from most others I've had - less noodle-like and a bit crispier, but excellent. I'd definitely recommend this if you're cracking German food or beers!

I found the manager to be quite knowledgeable as he assisted me with selecting a Sangria. The location of the store is good, it has ample parking, is well lit and security was present. After I left the store, I realized that I had dropped one of my gloves on the street in front of the liquor store. My friend, who drove me to the store, called the store and spoke with the manager about the missing glove. My friend returned to the store later that night and the manager assisted with searching for the glove. The glove was found under a parked vehicle on the street. I was impressed with the service and assistance afforded by the manager, as he went out of his way to find my glove. I would definitely recommend this liquor store and will be back when in the area.

But what if you drank everything you had Monday night as you hunkered down and prayed your windows wouldn't get sucked out by Sandy? Where could one possibly find booze under these circumstances? Well, if you had cash on hand and a flashlight you could go to Lito's! He opened up the shop to one person at a time and I was able to score 3 bottles of wine. Kept me warm and kept me amused to play the longest game of war I've ever played (lasted two days! and luckily so did the wine!).
