I don't write this as a local. Not anymore. I do write this with the memories of a kid who went shopping with his parents at PathMark and bypassed Pizza And and Bagels Plus to come here and stock up for the grandest Christmas parties the Pasta Triangle had ever witnessed. There was Seagram's 7 for the egg nog, Dekuypers for the gift baskets, Brotherhood Holiday wine for the table, the occasional case of Brookdale sodas for the kids, Kahlua for holiday sombreros, Miller Chill for my redneck uncle's Christmas present... and quarters from the owners so I could go play Street Fighter behind the bagel shop while my parents had fun. Kelly's was there to grow up with me. When I came home from college, it's where I bought the white zinfandel to go with the Land O Lakes chedarella I'd have during my incredibly adult wine-and-cheese nights. It's where I'd find Brooklyn Double Chocolate, Samuel Adams Boston Lager and several other "weird beers" that my dad would shake his head at before eventually nicking about half the pack. It was where I could finally get my mom her bottle of amaretto and my dad a gift-boxed bottle of scotch and put them under the tree. The years went on, I moved away, and I'd only see Kelly's when I'd come home for Christmas. It's where I'd make the family ice run and where I'd end up when the bottle of Finlandia that had bin in the basement for 25 years miraculously ran dry because the adults could drink vodka again. Sometime when I wasn't looking, the Pathmark closed up shop, the bank went away, the gift shop was no more and the hairdresser bolted. Even the "new" KFC didn't think this was a great place to be anymore. Kelly's stuck it out. It left its wood-paneled little corner shop for the liquor warehouse you see today. For its trouble, it gets all the outgoing traffic from a Shop-Rite that may not be Nutley Park, but is at least Belleville's own. Hey, you can even stop at the Pizza Hut on the way out if you want to see if people still sit in Pizza Huts anymore. I'm writing this review because Kelly's grew up with this old man. I'm out in Oregon now, but my cousins are still in Jersey. However, I discovered that I could order from Kelly's online and pay in advance. With their help, I made sure my cousins got the Holiday wine and Dekuyper's cordials our family's enjoyed for years... and sent them off in reusable Shop-Rite bags with more personal gifts tucked inside. Despite my best intentions, I couldn't get back for Christmas this year. But in recent years, I've been developing a soft spot for my old hometown, especially around the holiday. I remember pulling up to that McDonald's across the street after a long day of Christmas Eve errands with my sister and getting a small stack, only to have a worker sigh audibly when we asked for honey (points for consistency). I remember the many iterations of streetlight decorations throughout the town and the years when we'd get enough snow for sledding beneath the high-tension towers. I remember watching A Christmas Story and thinking how much Ralphie's town reminded me of Belleville. Being able to access a small, familiar corner of it--if only through a website--made this holiday season just a bit better and left me feeling just a bit closer to home. THEY ARE SCAMMER&FRAUD!! I ordered 5 bottles valued $675 on their website a month ago, and I didn't get any updates for a while so I called them to know the process. They said, due to low stocks, they can only ship 4bottles and would refund money for the one bottle. So I said YES. And I called them again after 2days to get a tracking number. But a guy, called manager, was so rude. I only asked my tracking number and he was so testy with no reason and just hung up the phone while I was still talking. And I called several times more, they didn't pick up the phone.. Finally, Someone picked up the phone, and she said without manager or owner, she can't acccess my order status but according to my order number, there is no shipment they shipped. So I complained that the manager said he already shipped it few days ago and then she wanted me to leave my phone number and she said manager would call me. Guess what?? 3days passed. Nobody called me. I don't even know they really shipped my order or not. They don't pick up the phone from my number. I will report them soon. Be aware! They treat customers like shit with no reasons and scammer! I lost $675 read more

This liquor store is clean, well stocked and open late. It has a terrific growler station along with a great assortment of wines. Plenty of parking too and so conveniently paired with Shoprite so you can shop for dinner and refreshments all in one stop. Staff has always been friendly and helpful to me...sometimes I think the bad ratings for "helpfulness/friendliness" on yelp have a lot to do with how you treat the staff in stores/restaurants. While everyone that deals with the public should professional people are still people. The nicer you are to them the nicer they are to you.....going into an establishment with an attitude or an air of superiority will probably get you negative results. Again, I have never, ever had any problem with any worker in this store and they don't "know me" (since I don't shop for liquor often) so they are just nice people. read more

Disclaimer: I'm pretty easy with the 5 star reviews when it comes to alcohol. The math is pretty simple: booze makes me happy. More booze and selection = more happiness = more stars to show my appreciation. Can a place so stunning and beautiful as Kelly's really exist in that strip mall that houses Pizza Hut (a cool place to hit back in high school decades ago) and across the street from McDonald's (their quarter-pounder was probably the most perfect food when I was a teen)? I could've never guessed... the area just doesn't scream "QUALITY BEERS HERE!" And yet... the quality beers are HERE. (It's cramped and stuffed to the gills like a NYC apartment.) Countless craft beers?! A growler station?! Opens at 9am?! (And they have a damn respectable amount of wine there as well.) I try my best to remain loyal to my favorite stores but when it comes to booze... I'll flip-flop faster than Hillary (as a registered democrat - I approve that dig!) if it means I can get something better somewhere else. read more

Biggest rip off liquor store. Murphys no plastic bags law gives every store permission to charge extra for a bag. I recommend the liquor store on Washingtoni and Malone. They are very friendly and get a bag!! read more

I am only giving this place 1 star because they sometimes have wine tasting but I am one of their loyal customers (and my husband) who buys liquor and lottery all the time. A bottle of Sangria fell out of my shopping cart and they made me pay for it!! The owner (tall, older Indian man)was right there when the staffer told me. He did nothing! I will never fo there again! I know he can he can write this off! I am a customer that always goes there! And he doesnt like selling lottery tickets when someone wants to buy liquor. Newsflash, dont have a lottery machine if you dont want to sell it! I will stop by if they have wine tasting to try it but I certainly wont buy it there. He will not get my money ever again. Its BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE to charge me for an accident!!! Now you lost a customer and many more because i will tell everyone about this. read more

I went last week there in late evening to buy some wine and beer so I ask the guy behind the register to direct me to particular wine and he just pointed me with his fingers the all wine without talking, no gratings or nothing, afterwards when I come to the counter he can't talk because his mouth is full with some weird stuff and I ask him questions about wine he just literally tells me why you drink wine if I don't know about, so rude and arrogant and literally you can tell he have alcohol on jobs. Usually I don't write the review but let others know. And he's smelling so bad that you can't stand. read more

This is my local liquor store. I absolutely love shopping here. They have an excellent selection of wines from almost every wine region. I love just wandering the store looking for new wines. They also have a wine tasting station as well as some vendors providing tastings on the weekends which is great. The prices are pretty reasonable and the employees are always willing to help you find anything in specific. read more

I'm a regular to many Liqour stores (I know that's not a good thing) however I had a great experience the first time I went to Kelly's. The whole store is clearly labeled well and navigation through the aisles is easy. If you drink whiskey they have a great selection and vodka drinkers there is a whole shelf full right next to the cashier (how convenient!). I truly enjoy talking with the staff that work there they're always polite and friendly. Often times I run into the owner who always recommends the new products and knows my taste. If you're looking for a one stop shop for groceries and liquor then go to Kelly's because it's right next door to a shop rite! (Life is good) read more

Any rating below 5 stars is just plain wrong. I have been going to Kelly's for the last 4 years and cannot think of a single complaint. The owner is friendly and helpful and knows his liquor better than any other liquor store owner in the area. The store is clean, organized, and conveniently placed right next to Shop Rite. I can get my groceries and my liquor all in one trip. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and someone is ALWAYS available to help you with anything you might need. If you haven't checked this place out, make sure you plan a trip. If you don't know what you want or want to try something new just ask the owner and he'll hook it up from their huge selection of choices. read more

Kelly's has an "ok" selection of wines and spirits (Shoppers Vineyard in Clifton has more). Two points of criticism: 1) Depending on who you get at the checkout counter, you may or may not get as much as a simple hello / greeting (even if you are a regular customer). Saturday night, Feb. 9, 2019 at approx. 8pm was a prime example of this. 2) It has been my experience that Kelly's hardly EVER issues a receipt to the customer for the purchase (several competitors, however, do). A receipt is a common courtesy to customers that Kelly's clearly overlooks. Details that may seem small to some may in turn serve to repel customers. Thankful for competition. read more

My go-to store now that I've moved in nearby. Good prices, and a large selection of craft beers. They also have a wine tasting station and do growler fills with a lot of nice beers on tap, including some locals such as Carton and Kane. If you're looking for a solid beer and wine selection, this store is a good choice in the area. read more

I don't know who would give this place 5 stars. When you try to ask management their name over the phone to ask a question since the employee couldn't answer it and they just hang up on you; call back to ask them again and they do the same thing ? How can any business entity handle themselves in such an unprofessional manner? I couldn't even get any phone etiquette from the supervisor, how would I expect to be a respected patron in the store? Went to go fill a growler today, when it kicked halfway through, they gave it to me for free. Friendly help, great selection of beers for fills. Will definitely be going back. read more
