We chose Madewell because they were reasonably priced and didn't try to BS us like the other two. Not sure why some contractors think eveyone is ignorant just because they dont want to be bothered with doing the job themselves. We did our homework. This was a 3 stage process. Stage one...spay and kill off the the old grass and weeds. Stage 2...the next week they removed all the old dead grass and weeds. Stage 3...laying of the new sod, which actually happened over a month later because of COVID-19 and waiting for good healthy sod. They also adjusted all the sprinklers if needed to make sure there was adequate coverage. The sod was delivered from the sod company and looked beautiful and healthy. We watered for 30 min, 2x a day for a month. Our lawn is absolutely beautiful and healthy and by week 3 had already taken to the soul. We get compliments all the time. My neighbors are probably just happy not be looking at a dirt yard any longer. Things that I found issue with along the way: clean-up wasn't as good as I would have liked, but I am very particular; and communication was not the best. Despite that, I couldn't be happier with the end result.

I left 2-3 voicemails and have yet to receive a phone call back. I have sent 4 emails to which I received only one response on 1/6: " I am back in town and will meet with the graphics guy that is completing the graphics portion of this on Saturaday. I will hope to have th design to you next week and will press him to make that happen." Since that email there has been zero communication. In fact I have not spoken to this company since they day the picked up my check. I understand that design process takes time, but it has been over 3 months and the complete lack of communication and follow through is appalling. For example, they replaced part of a walkway but did not put sod along the edges of the new walkway. They said that new grass would grow back. It looked terrible. After 4 months and no grass growth I texted several times about the need for sod along the edges. No response. They seemed happy once I canceled since I would not pay the outrageous prices for the big projects. Since then I have a new company and within a month they put the sod (which the other company should have planted) and a myriad of other lawn work that was neglected. The prices for the new company were much more reasonable. The new company returns all my text messages and calls in a prompt fashion.

I hired From the Ground Up Landscaping to remove sod from a side yard and replace it with stones…read moreand pavers and to replace dead sod in areas of the front yard. Also to remove a ligustrum bush and to plant 5 snowbushes on the easement. Dan rescheduled the start of the job a couple of times. No big deal. On the day he started, a Friday, he broke a couple of sprinkler heads. Mind you, the sprinkler heads that were to water the new bushes and sod on the easement. He said he would come back Saturday to fix them. He called Saturday morning to say he was stuck in traffic in Lake Nonna and would be back on Monday to fix them. He showed up Tuesday. On Tuesday he broke my entire sprinkler system.. Nothing would turn on. He said he did not know how to fix it and I should call a sprinkler company. I did. I had them fixed and he came out on a Wednesday to lay the stones and the pavers. He worked very hard all day. I need to mention here that I have an oak tree that is lit up every night at 8:30 to honor my son who has passed away. He cut the wire to the tree. Again, he didn't know how to fix it so I called my electrician in. This was a 7500 job. Then I had to pay my electrician and my sprinkler guy on top of that, for things Dan broke but refused to take responsibilty for. Accidents happen. I understand. But Dan's response is unprofessional at best. I have worked with this company before and I can say Marc is a professional. I cannot say the same for Dan.
