Update: It has been almost 5 years and I passed my driver's test first try after hiring back our previous driving instructor. Now the reason I am updating is that honestly my family cannot let it go that Robert hit me. Sure it was nothing painful but he cannot hit a student especially when I was 17 at the time. Now I will tell you what I did while driving Robert's car :) Disclaimer: I was 17 and this was 5 years ago, so I think that is past the statute of limitations. I knew Robert was bad and my mom was insisting that I tried him regardless of his 2-star business. My mom assumed United driving school was the driving school she took, but she wasn't sure. I read my mom all those past reviews and honestly she thought I was complaining to complain. I tried to think positive and maybe I could enjoy it or be on his good side. I was dead wrong when I drove a mile in Robert's car. Robert really likes to slam the teacher brakes and honestly it scares me every time and sometimes the drivers behind us too. I knew that Robert was notorious for pulling you over to review or lecture you. I found that was a time filler so you could spend more money, so instead of listening to him I thought of how to irritate him. First thing I did was question what would happen if I crashed his car? So all driving instructors have insurance obviously and brakes on the passenger side and I wondered what was stronger the gas pedal or his brakes? How good are Robert's reflexes? So, every time Robert braked, I floored it. Robert hit me after that and told me to pull over, which I didn't. In addition to accelerating, I also intentionally braked hard on stop signs. Next, he told me to go home and he couldn't teach me, so on almost every right turn, I went 40 mph so that I can give him a mini heart attack. He screamed every time. When I got home he lectured me and I ignored every word then when he asked me to pay him more than his rate of $60. I just threw the $60, left the car and slammed his door with the seatbelt on the frame of the door and went home. Roger kept ringing the doorbell and I told my mom he hit me. My mom ignored his constant ringing and then she called United Driving School office to yell at the secretary and said she will never come back. Looking back, I knew my actions were disrespectful and I could have hurt Robert or myself. But honestly, Roger was such a terrible human being and the other yelp reviews kind of justify my actions, but not really. My mom and dad still hate him read more

Do. Not. Want. Years ago as a young lad, I used them to get the hours I needed for my drivers license. They assigned me an old Asian guy who always wore huge sunglasses and bragged that he was a former DMV tester and he was the best. Okay cool. The guy would have me pull over and start explaining things with pen and paper. Very slowly. Was he just slow and careful or was he dragging out the time? Hmmm. Then he would do the exact same thing my next lesson. Literally exact. As in, explain the same thing he explained last week. So does that mean I should just give you the same check I gave you last week since you taught me nothing new? He would then have me drive to places and he'd get out and buy a drink. Normally not a problem since I'm still learning how to drive, except he literally took 20 minutes to get his drink. I guess that's not as bad as him FALLING ASLEEP though. That's right, he fell asleep at LEAST 3 times while I was driving. And not just a nod either, but full on eyes closed asleep (is that what the sunglasses are for?). Now this was when I was a spineless teenager and didn't learn to speak up for myself. But if I was in this situation again, you bet I would've fired him on the spot. NO! SIMPLY NO! That Asian old guy is a total waste of time and money! Pull you over and brought out a pen and paper and spend nearly half an hour bragging himself as a past DMV examiner in an one hour lesson. Or go to a boba shop and spend fifteen minutes chit chatting. For a $60 per hour lesson, it's simply burning cash!! So if you're trying to come here, NONONO! read more

Ah... traffic school. Every now and then you can do something careless on the road (like speeding) and if you're unlucky, you get pulled over and written up. Once this happens you still have to pay the full fine, and you can also opt to go to traffic school to keep that point off your driving record (at least once every 18 months). Today is traffic school day, but this time around it's for my mom-in-law. The nice thing about this particular traffic school is they offer classes in Japanese, which is great for mom. I think it's one of the few, if not only one, as folks came down from all over to attend this session. This means a long day of class for her, and 9 hours to Yelp around the SGV area for Em and me. The good thing about this school is that she'll comprehend everything that the teacher is rappin' riddles about. The bad thing is she'll now critique all of our driving for the next month or so pointing out anything we do to break the traffic code... lol... Nice! =) read more

Horrible post-class service. Called first time the representative told me she's not in office and asked me to call later, called second time she again told me to call later because another customer just came in to the office. I obtained an online DMV driving record from DMV website she said she does not know what that is and suggested me to go get one in the DMV office. My time is valuable and I do not know how the printout from the official DMV website (paid) would be differed from the printout obtained at the DMV office. Don't Ever Come To this driving school why is wasting your precious time and money! This place the instructor Robert got no heart to tech you to drive he just get mad at you and tell you your doing it wrong never positive things and plus he doesn't show how the DMV are looking for that's why I fail my behind the wheel test form the DMV he didn't prepare me for it because he didn't tell me what to look for and I just when to test the test not knowing anything of the technique to drive anyways if you coming here just beware of wasting your value time you can learn all this on your own and save your money I hate hate this place with passion and Im just giving you a heads up was really going on in this place they got no heart to tech you drive!!! They never answer their phone and their app stinks. It has so many errors and they won't respond to emails or phones call about it. There is no way to get a hold of them and I prepaid. They said they would pick up for driving lessons and they lied. Avoid. read more

I Have a good experience with this school. I never drive in my entire life so I have learned so much in a week with the instructor's teaching method. I got Lulan or Roland as an instructor his very good & patient with me I passed my driving test because of him. Their rate is the cheapest in San gabriel $30/hour. Worth it! This school is well recommended ask for my instructor his the best! read more

Super rude and a scam!!! I called to make an appointment for my brother and they said that they can come and pick him up at around 11:00 and have him practice before taking him to take his driving test. On the phone they told us it would cost $90, however, when my brother got home they charged us $120. When we asked the instructor why it was $120 he stated that it was because that's what the school texted him. When we called the school to ask why we were charged $120, they stated it was because they brought my brother to practice before his test. When trying to explain to her that we were told it would cost $90 on the phone she told us we were wrong and proceeded to hang up on us. read more

Never ever sign up for this traffic school. Worst Traffic school ever. At least i learned stuff out of them but still bad. I Got this teacher who i could barely understand and he was old. He would frequently pull me over either to grab a House for sale paper, or to go to the restroom OR go and buy food. However, a good thing was he had drew some visual pictures for me to better understand but a picture he drew of the traffic lights was way out of proportion. In my head I was like i have never seen that picture. As well, i found driving one time dangerous. My instructor wanted to pass this one car so he sped up to 60 in the car using his gas pedal on the passenger side which i think is illegal but whatever, to pass this one car and then told me to make a turn which i thought i would certainly lose control of the car and crash. All in all, not worth the money you spend. I would try Viva driving School [which i tried but was never open when i went]]. At the end of the 3rd day, he spent half an hour literally at the office getting more Certification papers, and chatting it up with the front desk lady. I seriously thought that i was being scammed and wanted to ask for my money back but whatever.
