I will be calling Monday to formally report this driver but about 10 minutes ago, cab driver 1437 mini grey van was turning right onto Sepulveda from Madrona (near Target and the Chevron) and was in the inner turn lane. I was in the outer right turn lane and as we got the green light, we both went and he completely turned into my lane, which then had to brake and honk since I could not move anywhere else as there is a median plus cars on the other side. The driver had no idea and flipped me off when I passed them. I tried to call tonight but your office does not have a voicemail so I will be calling again Monday. read more

I scheduled a cab four hours before I needed it. They confirmed the ride over the phone taking to a rep. I requested a wheelchair accessible shucks and they said they could accommodate that. I got my step dad out of his bed (he's partially paralyzed) and into the wheel chair and went out to wait for a ride that I had booked more than four hours prior. We waited outside. When they failed to arrive as scheduled, I called. You know a place deals with a lot of scheduling problems when they pay for an automated service to apologize to you when you call and they recognize your number. The automated message said that they were still having trouble finding a cab. It would occur to me if I couldn't meet an obligation to call AHEAD of time to let someone know rather than waiting for them to be inconvenienced. A reasonable person who cares about people might do that. But not United checker cab. I waited, called again and got the same message. Infuriating. I called again and cancelled the cab, then I cancelled the appointment for my 80 year old stepfather who was going to a follow up fir an emergency room visit. My advice, if it's anything that you need a reliable service for, don't use United Checker Cab. If you have someplace that you might want to go to, or maybe not and want to leave whether you get there to the winds of fickle fate, then by all means, give them a call take a gamble. read more

At 11am 7-24-2020 car 6222 great, 5 star ride I was comfortable. Driver asked me if I wanted A/C and I stayed comfortable all the way home. He drove efficiently and he wore a mask. At 3:15pm same day car 6529 not so good, 2 star ride not very comfortable, I had to ask for A/C which he kept on for a couple minutes. By the time I got to my destination, sweat was getting in my eyes. He drove efficiently but he wouldn't take a credit card and he only wore a face shield rather than a mask. read more

The taxi cab drivers are so reliant, respectable, within 5 min. of calling them - they work for a large company so no ''hanky panky'' (as in Uber) Many have the seniority and knowledge, experience that Uber/Lyft drivers do not have!! They arrived on time, and were polite. The cab could've been cleaner, but he did actually fuss about accepting my credit card for the fare. Kept saying, "please no" but I'll be damned if I'm not using the company card when it's a business trip. Eventually he relented, but what was really weird is he swiped my card up front, then he asked me to do it at the terminal in the back. The next day I received a call from AMEX stating someone had tried to commit fraud with my card at a Phillips 66. Maybe it was his doing, maybe it wasn't, but I hadn't used the card in awhile, and the suspicion alone is enough for me to take away a star. read more

They're scheduling through a wanna be Uber and Lyft app called Curb based in Utah (per the driver). First time they were 45min late to pick us up. That driver said she assumed someone closer would Pick us up. NOPE. This time we made an online reservation for 9pm. 9:20 we're still standing outside waiting. We call and find out they forgot to let us know there wasn't a driver available. This driver tells us the computer said 9, then 9:30, then cancelled, then two calls for ASAP. Thanks for almost making me miss my flight. To my wedding. Going to use a shuttle from now on or drive myself. No wonder cab companies are falling to the likes of Uber and Lyft. UPDATE: Call center guy LYING saying we called at 9:30 asking for a cab at 9:30. Telling the driver IM lying. Too bad for that POS I have my reservation in writing because it was made on the computer I didn't call in like he claims. Driver asked him to talk to us. Chicken sh** hung up on us. I used the RideYellow app to book a ride from LAX airport to my house (app allows you to prepay by generating a code that is then to be shown to the driver). When I approached the cab, I asked the driver if he was with Yellow / Checker taxis. He just started at me. I showed him the code in the app on my phone and he proceeded to get in the driver seat. I read him the code and he punched it into the computer. It correctly identified me and the address I had requested to go to. He then asked me how to get to my house. I responded by telling him that, since he was the driver, I was hoping that he would know that. Bizarrely, he then countered by telling me that I should know how to get there since I live there. I said I knew the local streets, but not the highways by heart. He said he would then use navigation software (which ... I assumed all drivers did, anyway). When we arrived at my house and I got out, he stayed in front of my house for an uncomfortably long amount of time. I suspect that he wanted to see what kind of tip he would receive, with a plan to challenge me if he didn't like it. The problem with the app is that you have to specify the tip amount ahead of time (before you even meet the driver), so there is no way to decrease it for bad service or increase it for good service. read more

I was staying at a swanky hotel (I splurged) and this was the company they called. the driver was a courteous gentleman, older, and got me to where I needed to go; his car was very clean. And there was a credit card machine IN THE BACK SEAT and no fuss about taking a credit card. This IS now the company I'll call in LA. read more

I normally don't write if there is nothing good to say but the guy asked for extra tip so here.... Driver harassed me for more tip, I thought he was going to punch me or something while he kept yelling at me, it seems that 15% is not enough, and with those demanding manners who will want to leave anything at all? Are we not paying them enough for driving us already? Tip for driving? Even after his unacceptable behavior I still left the 15% which normally I'd say.... and leave nothing because there is no reasons for it after that. So here is the extra tip: There are ways to get people to leave more tips, it's a matter of knowing how to ask. I have never had this experience in the past but I'm sure that is more often that it seems. And we wonder why there is violence in this city.... Negative stars. Negative! Nay, nyet, no, non! Use Uber, use a neighbor, use anything but United Checker Cab service. I ordered a cab to pick me up the morning of surgery. That's all I needed, just a one-way trip. 20 miles, fifty bucks. I had a friend picking me up in the afternoon. I ordered the cab two days in advance. I asked the dispatch woman if she was SURE the cab would be there. She said, and I quote, "absolutely." No cab. When I called, Dispatch said they were looking for a cab to send over. Looking? What did that mean - that I might get one in the next couple of hours? I was horrible, I admit. I did not curse though. I could simply not believe that at 7 in the morning, with two days advance warning, they couldn't have sent a cab to my house, which isn't very far from Gardena. I panicked. I was scheduled to be at the hospital in one hour. I cancelled the cab, intending to drive myself - but I called Yellow Cab instead. They said to call United back and speak to a supervisor. I did. It was worse. The supervisor said they never guarantee that a cab will pick you up on time. Wow. So I drove myself and had the added pressure of trying to figure out how to get my car back home. Do NOT use this company from LAX! They are incredibly rude. I utilized them for a ride home. They were really upset with my 18min "short" trip! Exceeded speeds of 55mph in residential area with my kids in the car, just to show how upset they were!?!? When I told the driver to slow down he complained to me the whole way about how they waited for 2 hours and could only go to airport twice a day. He actually told me I should use Uber...Uber?!? They should never complain about how Uber is killing them, based on my experience they shouldn't be allowed to do curbside and let Uber takeover! read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. We ordered a wheelchair taxi for a patient on OXYGEN and trach early Saturday am for Sunday 9.20am for a 10am appointment. The time is now 10.26am and we are STILL sitting here waiting. We've called numerous times being told they are STILL waiting on the order. Oh, I received a call at 920am after I received a text that a taxi was in it's way, then canx within 2 seconds stating that they inputted the order wrong the day before and a normal cab was ordered. Considering there is a 1230 return trip booked this is beyond ridiculous, I can't even explain how mad I am right now. The poor patient is sitting here in pain , having to have sat up an extra hour, wasted oxygen that WE have to pay for because we are leaving the medical facility, it's outrageous!!!!!!! Update... Spoke to supervisor around 11am who told me that just because we booked for a wheelchair taxi does not guarantee we will get one and it's based on driver availability. Apparently this is the warning label that comes with your booking.. What kind of bullshit is that?? She listened to my booking recording as she didn't believe I wasn't told that making a booking meant nothing... she was the one with egg on her face. I then questioned what would happen if the patient was waiting for his taxi on a return trip and ran out of oxygen based on being kept waiting for hours... Guess what, same parrot like response, just because you book doesn't mean you'll get a taxi and he would be kept waiting. Apparently only 2 wheelchair taxis working that morning and they were both out on far trips, would it be nice to let people know that they will miss their appointments? I'm sure not everyone wants to be kept waiting for HOURS, especially medically vulnerable patients. It's a disgrace. I informed her it's a liability and I would be making a formal complaint. I hope she plays that recording as well. 11.23am, I get a text about a taxi, I call and am told the Taxi is 3 miles away. Sorry but the 10am appointment we booked our 930am Taxi for is over. Also we had a return trip booked a couple of hours later for a reason. The patient now needed trach care so NO sorry we have no intention of taking your over 2 hours late Taxi. read more

Found a united checker cab outside the princess cruise terminal in longbeach. Gave us a ride to rental car office. Tried my American Express card in the machine in the cab but wouldn't take it . Driver said use another so I used a MasterCard and it worked. A week later these two card numbers were used in Las Vegas for a total of $6,000. The cab company said they could do nothing about it. Summary: My two phones (personal and work) were taken by United Checker Cab #1407 on 5/8/2015. I took a United Checker Cab #1407 from LAX to my house on 5/8/2015. I was dropped off at 9pm and within a few seconds of getting out of the cab realized I had left both my phones on the backseat. I went upstairs and notified the cab company at 9:03 pm. I have the receipt showing the cab number and time I was dropped off and a screenshot of the call(s) that I placed to the cab company trying to get my phones back. I was told by the dispatch supervisor that the cab driver was not answering his phone and not responding to the messages that he sent to the drivers tablet. I asked him to call my phones to see if the driver would answer or realize that my phones were in his cab. He did and said they both rang and went to voicemail. I asked him if he could try again, he did and this time the phones didn't ring and went directly to voice mail, my phones had been turned off. Since no one got into the cab when I got out, my phones were still in the cab. The driver clearly had taken my phones and turned them off. I called multiple times over the weekend with no luck. Monday morning I called the lost and found number and was told the person in charge of lost and found was out for the week. I called back in a few more times and finally got to someone who said she could look into it and I could call her back on Tuesday morning. I called her on Tuesday morning and she said the driver said he doesn't have the phones and there is nothing the cab company can do. I was told that the cab company is not liable and are not responsible for the drivers or their actions. It has been about a week now with no luck. The only reason I waited until now to post this is the person who is in charge of lost and found got back today and I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and see if they would call me or return my phones, neither happened. I ended up purchasing new phones in the cost of ~$1000. How can a company that employees an individual not be responsible for his or her actions? How can a company let an employee steal from their customers and take no blame or responsibility? How can the driver just get away with basically stealing my phones? This is just another reason why the cab companies are declining and companies such as Uber are growing. LAX needs to lift its ban on Uber drivers so we are not forced to deal with unprofessional such as United Checker Cab. I highly recommend that no one uses United Checker Cab and you find other means of transportation, most of them are cheaper anyways. read more

Would give ZERO stars if possible. They deserve NEGATIVE stars. The 1 star is for the nice customer service rep I spoke to when I filed my complaint. I took United Check Cab #1418 from LAX to my apartment in West Hollywood today after a very long flight from Southeast Asia. I've had issues with cabs at LAX before (not just United Checker Cab, but I've encountered this with just about every company) regarding hassling me for cash at the end of the ride instead of accepting my credit card. I asked the LAX Taxi supervisor at the taxi line if this cab would give me a hard time about a credit card and he said no. The ride to my place was pleasant enough even though he kept talking hands-free phone calls. At the end of the ride, my driver asked for cash. I told him, no I am paying with credit card. He asked me again for cash and I repeated that I am using my credit card. That's when all niceness ended. He got out of the car WITH THE METER STILL RUNNING and retrieved my bags from the trunk and left them at the back of the car, and then got back in the cab and turned the meter off. I used my credit card on the machine in the back and he gruffly handed me my receipt when the transaction was completed. I was putting my receipt and card away and trying to gather my belongings when he asked if I was done yet. I said "just a moment, I'm gathering my things". I looked to the side of the car where the curb is and didn't see my items so I asked him where my suitcases were and he points to the back and says "back there". I get out and see he's left my suitcases at the back of the cab, in the middle of the street. Still trying to be polite I said "thank you" and he says nothing and drives off. I don't deserve to be treated with such disrespect. My belongings don't deserve to be treated with disrespect. I am fed up with cab drivers in this city hassling their fares for cash at the end of the ride and in some cases, even lying and saying their machine is broken and then offering to drive you to the nearest ATM for free so you can get cash. That is completely unacceptable. It's behavior like this that pushes people to use Uber & Lyft. Since they are not allowed at the airport yet, I am stuck using cabs to get home from LAX and I continue to be subjected to disrespectful, harassing behavior. If cab drivers don't want to accept credit cards, they should find another profession. read more

I lost an iPhone and had chalked it up for lost. We called the main hub, who put us in contact with my driver Romulo Martinez who said he had found my phone but was unable to return to the airport for me to get it. That's fine- this was my fault so I understood that and got ready for an arduous return process with the lost and found. HOWEVER, I was greeted by Joanne Hendrix-Osazuwa who handled my complaint with magnificent grace and ease and I got my phone back WAY faster than I had anticipated. Add that they showed up on time, picked up three different groups of people and got us to the airport in a very timely manner and I cannot say enough good things about this company! Proceeded to get out of the car and LIE in front of police that I got in his lane and continues to lie about it to his employer and insurance company so he would not be at fault. Then the company would not release his dash cam footage because "they don't have to"...not suspicious at all. Called many times to make a complaint against the driver to his supervisor and did not get one call back or any apologies for their driver telling me to "F off". Completely awful read more
