Called Yellow and got an operator who told me they do not pick up at airport unless the person has an account! Complained this would strand me and she hung up. I waited and a yellow cab came by and picked me up. Was it Yellow? Did not check. Driver uninterested in ticket number and wanted $21 after quoting me $20 with tip. RIP OFF be careful, they give you one price over the phone and the driver asks for more, every time. 3 times with the same drive and 3 different charges. Last time the driver had a strong accent and said $20 flat rate to downtown, which is what they had quoted me earlier. When we got to out destination he said $28. I told him it is always $20 to $23 and he got very rude. I gave him the $28 but told him "no tip" because you are ripping us off. Some of the drivers have really bad attitudes. They also expect a tip knowing some people can't tip. They don't want to pick people up at night because supposedly of the area. You're getting paid to pick up and drive them home why deny the ride because of the area. Some of the drivers go slow too when they have room to go faster. read more

I was in the cab and The driver called me a liar when I told him they gave me a set price and he told me no that's not true. I was like wow he just called me A Liar. I Have the Cab Driver's Cab number on his Car as well- It's #1078 He appears to be Cambodian. Even though I was only charged 55 cents more but why do they generate a set price a then when you get ready to get out the cab driver says a different price. Oh Man! We used this service to get to and from the Long Beach Half Marathon! Both were bad, but on the way back to our hotel from the marathon, the driver was upset even before we started the journey. As he flipped an illegal u-turn he almost ran over someone behind him. I pointed out there was someone behind him. He said that the even was ruining business for his city, which I thought was strange, considering the even brought people from out of town to stay in LBC hotels, dine out and shop in LBC and use ride hailing services. The guy then said he was going to take short cuts - and took so many "short cuts" he doubled the fair that we paid in the morning for the same distance. This guy was slamming on breaks, then gas, then breaks again between each stop light which was EVERY-SINGLE-BLOCK. At one time, while flying down a street, his little prius ground out as he flew over a bump. Not sure what he said, but he grumbled angrily about it. Long Beach Yellow Cab doesn't deserve a chance based on my review and previous reviews. I don't feel bad for these guys when this is how they treat customers. read more

If I could give a rate of double zero below a double zero I would. My mother got discharged from the hospital in a wheelchair. Due to her condition I could not get her in my vehicle. Called from the hospital phone and all I got was an automated voice. Doesn't even allow you to request a van for a disabled person. A Prius car was sent and I told the driver that I was in need of a van for a wheelchair. He stated that no van was to be available at that time. It was 7 p.m. Are all the vans at the airport? This company apparently has no regard for disabled people. Thank God I was able to find another company to transport her home with respect and dignity! read more

I've used RideYellow twice, both times from Long Beach Airport to neighboring OC. Let's start with the positives: + their fleet is situated at the airport, so it's easy to hop in and go + the vehicles have been clean + they take card/mobile pay/NFC/tap via the square reader built into the headrest of the front passenger seat Onto the negatives: - driving style I can't say that the drivers were good drivers on either occasion. They were marginally worse than Lyft drivers I've experienced. Both times, the drivers were going above 80 mph on the freeway. Now, I'm not blind. The drivers RideYellow employ (if they aren't contractors) are clearly immigrant, Southeast Asian, (often) ESL uncles. Coming from an immigrant family myself, I've witnessed my father be paid exploitative and illegally low wages. I really wonder how RideYellow compensates the drivers and what the working conditions are like that they feel such a need to speed and weave through traffic. That is not how a fairly compensated individual in a healthy work environment would behave. - poor protocols As mentioned, most of their LGB airport drivers are clearly Southeast Asian uncles with accents. There is no problem with being Southeast Asian or having an accent. There is a problem with RideYellow not instituting a standardized start to to each ride and not teaching the drivers the names of different cities in Greater LA. Both times, I've told my driver that I can provide them the address. They instead just ask me what destination city is. Both times, I've stated the name of the city in OC where I live and, the drivers didn't even know which direction on the freeway to head. I'll then name a couple of neighboring cities and both times my drivers remain confused before relenting to enter in the address I spell aloud. A little frustrating. This song and dance doesn't need to happen. Confirming the exact address with the passenger(s) before starting the vehicle should be standard protocol. - expense I usually take Lyfts to and from the Long Beach airport. Lyft's prices after tip are around $25-$40. Both times I've taken RideYellow, it's been almost or actually double that ($55-$70). I wish I knew what the price premium went towards because from the stressed-out way my drivers behaved, I doubt it's going back to the workers. Also, I can't help but feel that making 90% of their airport fleet minivans is a mistake. Lots of people travel alone or as a pair, so minivans can often be overkill in terms of passenger capacity and fuel economy, thus inflate the total. I usually travel solo and my home is about 20 minutes away from LGB airport in good traffic. Paying $60 (after tip) for a short ride is kinda absurd. Inside of the vehicles, RideYellow advertises that any rides arranged via their app gets 25% off, which I think explains both their prices and it brings me to the next pain point. - shit app Do I need to say much here? It's the 2020s. I expect a functioning app, not what the App Store rates as a 2/5 stars disappointment. The RideYellow app has the same vibes as a rando parking meter company's app that get hacked and their users' payment info stolen. I don't trust RideYellow with my credit card info until they can show me competent security procedures. In summary: RideYellow LB isn't as great of a local alternative to Big Rideshare as I'd like. They're not more transparent than name-brand ridehailing services, they've invested in fuel inefficient minivans for their LGB airport fleet that add to your total bill, they don't care enough about their own customers to build a functional app, and they're very likely just another business that's exploiting a mostly-immigrant workforce. read more

If I could give a zero I would. A couple of months ago, I called 24 hours in advance to book a wheelchair lift van in order to get my elderly mother to an important medical appointment. The van NEVER arrived, despite numerous calls on my part every 10 minutes. I had to push the "0" button repeatedly to get to a live person. All they did was apologize and say they cannot find a driver. Excuse me? They had 24 hours to arrange for this. My mother missed the appointment and we had to wait 4 weeks to get her another! First time LB cab experience - I had an unexpected car issue this morning and called this service just before 8:00 a.m. I was happy that I was able to immediately see my driver's ETA and received a text notification when he arrived (within about 10 minutes). Upon arrival, my driver was very friendly and easy going. My ride was pretty short, but I was impressed by how clean the cab was. I would definitely call again in the future! Yea it's a cab company... So how exciting can it get... Sometimes I have gotten a mini-van, or a hybrid, but usually I get the typical Crown Vic (former Police car) with a really uncomfortable back seat... I use LBYC as my safe ride to and from the bars... I also use them to go to LGB... What amazes me / big ups to LB Yellow Cab is how fast they are. I mean really fast!!! I call them up, they're surprisingly polite, and the dispatcher tells me it will be 5-15 minutes... I think I can probably have one more beer, check my outfit out or whatever... Then almost immediately after I hang up the phone the cab is there, calling me with the recording that your taxi is out front. (press 1 if you'll be down in the next few minutes...) 2 minutes, not 5 to 15... I am compelled to yelp them because I have lived in San Francisco and the DC area before and had absolutely atrocious cab service... So compared to those 2 metropolitan areas LB Yellow Cab rules... My husband and I very much enjoyed using this cab company. They were promoting a special for $15 off your first ride outside of the Carnival Cruise Line terminal, unfortunately you had to download the app to get the deal. The internet wasn't able to work well enough to download the app, so we couldn't use the coupon. (That's what took away a star for me) The driver got us to our hotel promptly and safely, and helped us with our luggage without question. Even though the meter on the cab said over $80, they still honored a flat rate they were offering of $72. That was nice considering we couldn't use the coupon. read more

On Thursday, 2/6/20 I came out of one of the local schools I service to find my vehicle boxed in by one of this company's cabs and another as in front of my vehicle. I opted to call the cab company being they are attaInable. I spoke and spoke to a supervisor named Anita. She advised she would contact the driver. I waited and no driver came out. I called her back a second time. She responded I just spoke to the driver and he said he wasn't blocking the driveway? I informed her he had me boxed in and I didn't want to damage my car or their company car for that matter. She advised me she would contact the driver once again. Finally the driver came out! I stepped out of my car and asked him to please back up so I could back out of the parking spot. He replied, " you called my supervisor and told them I Waac blocking your driveway!" I clarified , " O called and asked them to driver to please move back and let me out." He said in a VERY hostile manner, " I'm not moving!" I told him then I'm calling the police!! I called the police and attempted to reach another supervisor another "man" not a gentleman answered my call and mentioned he "could not force the driver to move the cab!" This being a supervisor could not demand-request-instruct his driver to move his vehicle back just long enough for me to leave!!!! 45 minutes later --45 minutes later and late to pick up my children!! LB police arrived I explained to the officer and demanded he delete pics he took of my vehicle! Upon the officer speaking to his " father" because he wasn't the individual speaking to the officer! The officer returns and informs me that he is unable to force him to move his vehicle legally! Unless he was blocking the driveway he can cite him!! Needless to say this IGNORANT individual made me almost an HOUR late to pick up my kids!!! All because his ignorance allowed him to act in such a rude manner ! This rating could have used PROFANITY to the maximum measure , but I refrain from allowing this ignorant bystander to continue occupying my mind! ***********RACIST DRIVER******** After attending a concert at the convention center, my friends and I decided to hail a cab back to Redondo Beach. After switching the meter on, he then decides to pull over to put the destination in his navigation system. I asked him if he could switch the meter off (since he is taking his sweet sloth time inputting it), and he complied. A few minutes later, he DEMANDS that we give him a deposit due to the length of the ride. When I offered 10 dollars, he told me that it had to be at least "40 or 50 dollars" because "that's protocol and the ride is going to be about that much anyways." I hand him a 50 dollar bill. (If we're being super specific I had about $130 in cash. More than enough to get home and back again). The fact that he was under the assumption that I wouldn't have money for this ride was infuriating, demeaning, and hurtful. I've lived in San Francisco for the past 10 years. I know how cabs work. One might even call me an aficionado. But I have NEVER IN MY LIFE been charged for a ride before the ride has been completed. If we weren't almost on the freeway, I probably would have had him pull over. BTW. The fare was less than $50. I ordered a cab this am to get home while my car was having service. It to 40 minutes and 3 calls before my ride came for a 3 mile trip home. When my car was ready I called for a ride, 2.5 hours and 11 phone calls later, I still don't have a ride. I was told by the annoying automated service that I had cancelled and did I want to order another ride. The shop closed afterstaying open waiting for me and now I'm without a car until they open tomorrow @ 10:00. When I get through this I will never use this service again. Never used Uber but I am downloading the app now. I'm giving a one star because it won't let me go any lower. read more

Yes, it was New years Eve, I understand that the cabs were busy so my issue here is not with the excellent service I've received in the past but from the Dispatch Center. I called at 9 PM and requested a cab so I could attend an event downtown; I was told it would be best to wait out front because this one time only they would not be able to call when they have arrived. After giving the dispatch person [all] of the information I went out front of my condo to wait; I saw my cab and it whizzed right past me so, after making another call I was told that they had told the driver I was to be picked up in front of an office building; what cookie jar did you use to obtain that information? So, another was dispatched, pulled up and as I approached the driver speed off; called again and the same thing, I approached and then the driver waived me off after pulling up to the curb to get me. BTW, in between all of this nonsense a guy in a BMW and another guy in an Audi keep circling the block asking me if needed them to take me where I needed to go; great I'm dressed to the nines and horny drunks think I'm an escort working my corner! I wanted to throw my web site card at them and tell them check out what you will [never] be able to afford! By this time my family and friends are waiting for me to arrive and I'm 15 minutes late already; then, I get a voice message that a cab is 1.7 miles from me; so, I wait and he is creeping up the opposite side of the street as I'm waiving like I just escaped from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I get inside and of course I'm venting but, at the same time not blaming him; we headed toward 3rd and Pine and, when he pulls over I hand him my Credit Card and he says " tonight only we can only accept them if the fare is over $10; the fare was $9.15 and I said "just add another dollar, do whatever you need to do". I'm 30 minutes late by now. So, I opt to pay him with a $50 bill (all I had for a night out were large bills and the purpose of the credit card was for just in case things); he was able to break that and give me $50 in change back; I tipped the poor guy $5, I mean really what a crappy thing to do to your drivers on one of the busiest nights of the year. Oh, yeah this morning I check my banking on line and the $9.15 went through; he did it anyway knowing he would most likely be admonished for doing so. The hubby and I need to lift to the airport on a recent trip to Portland, so I scheduled a pick up the night before and here is what happened: I got a call telling me the taxi driver was outside, we look outside and the taxi is there right on time to the minute. Walk out and taxi driver greets us with a "Good Morning" and helps with luggage. We tell him our destination and he does not take the scenic drive trying to get extra miles for a higher fare...he got there and got there quick. We exit the taxi and he helps us with the luggage and wish us a safe trip. OMG!! was that not the best experience ever?!?!?!? I sure think so. On our trip back home same thing. We walked to the taxi staging are and were quickly directed to our cab. He got us home and we took a nap. I'm seriously impressed and satisfied. I'll indubitably use them again. read more

If there was any sign that traditional taxi companies are on their way out fast, Long Beach Yellow Cab would be it. I often have to call these guys to pick up guest who are from out of town (or drunk) at my work. I really wish we had a way to call a Lyft car for someone else, because it is always time consuming and the operators are of the apathetic and surely variety. On average it takes about 4-5 minutes from dialing for a person to pick up (mind you I have to do this several times a week). My last experience with them was the worst to date. Operator 1091 answered after 4 minutes she told her operator number is the dullest voice ever and then paused. It sounded like she was cut off so I gave a simple "Hello?" to make sure I still had her on the line. She snapped back immediately "HOLD ON" and went silent again. I waited but was still unsure if she was on the line, because again, silence so I gave another "Hello?" It was awkward and confusing to which the operator responded with her entire spiel "This is operator 1091 from Long Beach Yellow Cab ...." She was extremely rude for no reason and of course as always "The cab will be there in 5-15 minutes" means closer to 30. I can't wait for Uber and Lyft to make it easy for businesses to call cabs for customers, that way we can kiss overpriced and rude taxi companies like this one goodbye! read more
