Please save yourself from Genaro and Unique Pools - you will not enjoy this experience. If I could give zero stars I would. I have never been so disappointed and distraught over an investment in my home. I was so excited to have a pool installed before we began. Every aspect of this was a horror - we placed our order 6 months before the pool was delivered- ok I understand Covid... but it was delivered in the afternoon and unique did not have the proper equipment to crane this into our back yard. Hours later a backhoe finally arrives in darkness and hauls this into our yard- utterly destroying our lawn. The pool then sits untouched for four months until work took place sporadically during evening and weekend hours after we chased, called, begged for unique to get started. Concrete finally had to be ordered and paid for directly by us as unique was no longer in good standing with local companies. Concrete was to be colored and stamped but instead was stained - not our preferred color choice. No electrician was available. No cover was ever delivered. The concrete was incorrectly formed for the cover. We are left out of pocket on the cover, finding our own electrician to complete the job, needing to fix the concrete and by the way the pool was left a sloppy stained mess. We are out of pocket better than 15k, plus needing to repair/resod our lawn and repair irrigation which was destroyed by the equipment. We finally have the pool operating one year later and no thanks to Unique. A complete horror show. Run away! read more

I'm probably shooting myself in the foot by saying this, but don't give this company your money. We gave them a deposit of approximately $25k in 2021. We gave them another $25k last year. What do we have to show for our money? Nothing. (Unless you count the building permit they managed to obtain through the county.) So many times over the last year we were told they'd get our pool installed as soon as they sorted out whatever the delay was at the time. "Just waiting on permit." "Just waiting on pool distributor to get pool in stock." "Just waiting on pool distributor to find driver to deliver pool." "Too busy moving into new office." In the spring we were told our pool would be installed in July or August. In the summer we were told fall. We actually delayed closing on our newly constructed home a month because we thought the pool would be installed before closing (end of October). We were very clear with Unique Pools that we were pushing our home closing back for the sole purpose of bundling the pool into our mortgage. Then instead of a pool we got more reasons why the install would be delayed. At that point they told us we were on a "very short list" and suggested they'd do our install in December or January. Before Christmas I called and was told they just needed a driver to deliver the pool and they would do the install as soon as the pool arrived, which was supposed to be a matter of weeks. Now it's March. Still no pool. We decided to go with another pool company and are currently trying (unsuccessfully) to get a refund from Unique Pools. The new company told us that they've already redone a few pools that were incorrectly installed by Unique Pools. (So in a way it's a blessing Unique Pools is not going to be doing our pool.) What the new pool company told us about some of these pool businesses is what I've suspected all along-- they fund existing contracts with deposits collected from new contracts. I suspect they are in effect a Ponzi scheme and need new contracts / deposits to make good on the old ones. Unique Pools continues to give us excuse after excuse, even including covid now 4 years out from the pandemic. Meanwhile, the new pool company we're using reports no such delays and assures us it is reasonable to get a pool within a 3-4 month time frame. Writing this review may indeed screw up my ability to get a refund if you heed my advice and avoid giving them your money (lest you never see it again as I fear is going to happen to us). However, the last time I wrote a bad review, Genaro seemed motivated to prioritize our concerns. I told him I'd take the bad review down if he made the situation right. He has not made it right. We contracted Unique Pools to install an in ground fiberglass pool in June 2021. Our lifelong dream of having a pool has turned into a nightmare. Unique hired a tile person who had never done pool tile to install water line tile. It shows. The tile is uneven, coming apart and the grout is falling out. We contacted Unique to resolve the issue and they said "it looks fine". Also we contracted for an automatic pool cover to be installed. Initially, Covid was to blame but we are approaching 2 years and still no cover. We are on our 3rd cover company to be sub-contracted and all the communication comes from our end (Would have never known had we not reached out today). At this point, we will likely have to find our own company to install the cover and pay out of pocket. This is on top of the $20k we have laid out to fix Unique's "landscaping" that caused our crawl space to flood. If you want a company that performs substandard work with high prices and zero communication/response, then Unique is the company for you. If not, look elsewhere. I wish I had.... read more

This is review is based off a pool kit installation (not purchased from this company) and concrete work for around the inground pool.  Do not reccomend for these task. Suggest researching this company before making any decision. Check Better Business Bureau site ( D Grade) You should also check DPOR (for verification of the company license)( Not licensed to do concrete work per DPOR )The companies response to the negative reviews speaks volumes( Facebook and elsewhere). Learn from our mistakes. Almost a year ago this project started with said company and while we do have a pool to swim in it has issues. Concrete work that was done left concrete on the actual pool liner.The concrete is also not finished correctly and is not straight.  We have no idea the long term affects this will have on our liner. Communication was and is  none existent with owner. Issues still have not been corrected and after multiple attempts to communicate with owner, all have gone ignored. Genaro and Team did a beautiful job installing our new fiberglass pool. He kept me informed all along the way. He handled permitting and put me in touch with a company to provide the automatic cover. He worked side by side with my Hardscape company to ensure a seamless design. I am very happy and would recommend. read more

Stay clear of Genaro and Unique Pools. They installed an auto-cover for our new pool last summer. The job STILL has not passed inspection and we are stuck with an open permit. When we tried to contact him, his arrogance was second only his lack of concern for the job he did. This company is why folks do not trust contractors. I'll be happy to supply more pictures of the shoddy cover lid and the misaligned cover. (I had to cut the wood pieces because Genaro and his crew did not place the supports correctly and the stone lid broke...quality work.) read more

I wouldn't even leave this company one star. The owner, Genaro, has a great sales pitch, promises a beautiful pool that you will be swimming in soon but he doesn't include a finish date in the contract so he can finish the project at his leisure, (Something we learned). He showed us photos of pools he supposedly installed. At this point I'm not sure if those are truly photos of his work or someone elesWhat we have is a nightmare. It's been several years, waiting on Genaro to make good on his word to fix all the issues but nothing. He doesn't care. He has our money... you have to pay for step one before he starts on your pool, then step 2 before it's started, and so on. Don't question any of his work or express concern about any issues you may see bc he just stops all contact and your 'pool' will look like ours... like a dump. The concrete cracked within days of pouring. The pool is not level. Plumbing leaks. Jets do not work properly. Pool lights quit working within weeks. Genaro agreed to have the concrete repaired and sent a crew out to break up the concrete (that was left in our driveway) and come back later to repour those sections. That crew cut the electrical wiring, as well as the ground wires, busted the edges of the good concrete, and the track of our retractable cover was severed completely as well. Genaro has ghosted us since this. We have called several times. No reply from Genaro. We will spend a small fortune to take him to court and he knows this. Our money would be better spent just having someone else do the repairs and finish the concrete. The way Genaro left our pool is a hazard to anyone who enters the area. We found Unique Pools and Spas 4 years ago when our local company lost our business. Gernardo has come through for us every time! This company is our "go to" for anything we need for our in ground pool! We drive 45 minutes out of our way to go to Gernardo at Unique Pools and Spas. He is honest, fair, hardworking, and generous. He goes out of his way to help and follow up. We pass the local company that installed our vinyl liner that's only 10 minutes from our house because they have a consistent history of poor customer service, over pricing, and poor quality work. Unique Pools and Spas EARNED our respect, our business, and referrals from myself and my husband. We look forward to working with them for years to come! read more

My ordeal with this company has been a struggle from the beginning. I hired them to replace my pool liner and cover both phases of this job were shoddy and unprofessional. The owner will say anything you want to hear to get your deposit/job. The service ends once your paid in full. He stops answering his phone and even blames you for his companies incompetence. There are a few words to describe Unique Pools and Spa, LLC.. TERRIBLE, DISAPPOINTING, and POOR SERVICE. Anyone who is looking for an inground pool to be installed please I beg of you don't be like me DO YOUR RESEARCH on the contractor. Using Unique Pools and Spa, LLC has been a complete NIGHTMARE!!! I am beyond disappointed, and frustrated. Just like others, I tried to remain patient with Unique Pools and Spa, LLC. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone. They are poor in service and communication. The short version of my misery, I paid Unique Pools and Spa, LLC in FULL in July of 2020. It is now September 2021 going into October and my inground pool still hasn't been completed. They have failed many inspections and when you try to contact Genaro he is not available. You will only get the office staff (which who I feel sorry for because they are all over the place). I wish I could post pictures of how my yard has looked for the past months. From the time they broke ground the project has been a complete disaster. Also, please read your contract MAKE SURE there is A COMPLETION Date with no completion date this gives him the upper hand to complete the project when he wants despite what he verbally tells and you agree upon. read more

So disappointed. I tried to be patient and understanding given covid. Short version, important calls don't get returned. No idea what status is because we were told our 1 season old motor needed to be replaced because replacing seals hasn't fixed leak. In follow up call, I'm told they are waiting for seals?! Which is it? Only Genaro knows and he won't take a minute to let me know what's being done, waiting on seal kit or to hear back on warranty claim. Going out of town tomo for 2 months and even stressing this in urgency of wanting to know what's being done, crickets. Pool cover they installed has been very unpredictable and we've had at least 4 calls in less than 1 year and they replaced same part twice in last 2 months. Pool linear replacement they installed is bubbled in a bunch of places unlike our original. And the pool lights they installed last year don't work. read more

We contracted with Unique Pools and Spas on Sep 1, 2021. Pool in the ground, March 22. "You'll be in your pool by May". Week after week, month after month, we were lied to about work resuming. "Monday or Tuesday, end of the week, in a week or two". On and on. Neither weather, nor material availability has held up this job. Gennaro Barron, owner, simply pocketed $56,000 and split. Never bought the $10,700 worth of equipment I paid him to purchase. All contact over 1 year and 7 months has been initiated by me. Today, we agreed by phone that he will refund me $5,000. That leaves me thousands short of what I will need to pay to have the pool finished, but it is worth it to be done with this criminal enterprise. Do your research. Others have been cheated far more severely than I have by them. In conference call with the business owner and his office boy, they said I would receive a pertinent email following our discussion. Haven't seen it. Holding my breath for that $5,000. No, I trust them. read more

Genaro and his team did a poor installation of our auto cover and had to come out multiple times to adjust and service it. The cover got stuck at one point due to a faulty track install, the ground not properly installed and the ropes weren't installed correctly. Additionally they no longer do installs as part of River Pools for auto covers as Unique and Genaro is difficult to get a hold of, was unresponsive and told us to deal with River Pools going forward. Additionally they continued to comment negatively on River Pools which is unprofessional. Would never recommend Genaro and Unique Pools to anyone. read more

The pool builder I hired to build my pool left me with no automatic cover for 3 months , I was left hanging with no solid answer about when I'll be receiving a cover to final inspect my pool , I found unique pool and spa , I send a request Sunday night after business hours , Genero the owner received my request and contacted me Monday morning (Memorial day ) During Covid19 pandemic he came to my house , prepared with forms and masks in the afternoon to do his measurements for the cover , Tuesday morning my cover order was placed and sent to manufacture, I can not express or explain how impressed I am with such service. This company is a life saver , the owner really went above and beyond my expectation , he promised me an excellent quality pool cover and motor , he will stand behind his product for service and warranty. Months of stress and aggravations dealing with my pool builder were washed away seeing Genero and his Unique Pools and Spa , I'm looking forward to see my auto cover installed in a week or so. read more

Our pool cover got stuck and the repair from the cover manufacturer was $1,100.00 dollars. We called Genaro at Unique Pool and Spa because they were going to take a couple of weeks to get to it. The quote was for new ropes and a new mechanism. Genero said the ropes were not broken, just tangled. He had the cover working again in no time. Genero's experience and honesty that afternoon gained him a new service customer and I will be recommending Unique Pools and Spa's to all of our friends and family. read more

I have had the pleasure of working with Unique Pool and spa for the past few years. Genaro and his team hands down are the best and the provide superb pool service. They have installed automatic pool coverage for my inground pool and have opened and closed the pool with maintance and every time have provided an excellent service. Their fees are very reasonable and the service very reliable. I recommend them highly and am so glad I am in a trusted hands. In fact they have become like family.
