We recently completed a backyard remodel with Unique Home Builders that included pavers and artificial turf in the backyard, as well as artificial turf in the front yard. Before choosing a contractor, we met with roughly 15 different companies, and from our very first meeting, Nir stood out from the rest. Unlike many contractors we spoke with, Nir never made us feel pressured or rushed into making a decision. He took the time to thoroughly explain the entire process, what to expect, and answer all of our questions. We made a few design changes throughout the project, and Nir was always willing to meet with us, come back out to the house, review the revisions, and make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. Throughout the entire project, he was always just a text or phone call away whenever we had a question. One thing we were especially happy about was how quickly they were able to get started. Within just a few days of signing the agreement, the crew was onsite and working. We wanted the project completed in time to enjoy our backyard during the summer, so that was a huge plus for us. The demo phase moved quickly, and throughout the entire project it was clear that everyone on the crew took pride in their work. There was always progress being made, and nobody was standing around waiting for something to do. The entire project took about 2-3 weeks, with a few days of delay due to an existing plumbing issue we discovered with our old galvanized main line. This was not related to their work, but once the issue was identified, Nir and his team were able to handle that project for us as well, including permits and inspections. After the plumbing work was completed, they got right back on track and finished everything quickly. As with any construction project, a few small items and details came up along the way that needed clarification or adjustment. Construction projects rarely go perfectly, and we had a few misunderstandings and unexpected issues come up throughout the process. What impressed us was that whenever something needed attention, Nir took ownership of it, communicated with us, and made sure it was resolved. In the end, everything was completed to our satisfaction. One of our biggest concerns before starting was who would actually be working on our property. We work from home and have kids, so we wanted to feel comfortable with the people who would be at our house every day for several weeks. One thing we really appreciated about Unique Home Builders was that they used their own crew. We got to know the team, everyone was respectful, and it made the entire experience much more comfortable. There were also a few design details that we changed while work was already underway. For example, around our palm trees we originally planned to do circular paver borders, but once we saw them taking shape, we decided we preferred square borders instead. We mentioned it to the foreman, and the team made the adjustment without any issues. That flexibility made a big difference. The job site was kept clean and organized throughout the project. During the demo phase there were naturally some days where material and debris accumulated in the front yard, but everything was organized, contained, and safely coned off. We also appreciated the little things. Whenever we were leaving or returning home while the crew was working, they would move equipment and materials out of the way for us, and they would even sweep up before leaving for the day. Those details did not go unnoticed. Pricing was very fair. Nir wasn't the cheapest bid we received, but he also wasn't the most expensive. Given the amount of work involved and the quality of the finished product, we felt the value was excellent. Just as importantly, the final cost matched the agreed contract price. The true test of a contractor isn't whether problems arise, it's how they handle them. Nir and his team consistently communicated, addressed concerns, and delivered a finished project we're proud of. We are extremely happy with the end result, would absolutely hire Unique Home Builders again, and would not hesitate to recommend them to friends and family. read more

Hired this contractor for a backyard renovation project last Summer. The project was to add a couple of Planter walls on the hill next to our pool. The quoted price was alright but the details were missing such as exactly whats covered in the job. later, had to pay more to get the originally promised job. Work was done pretty quickly but the overall quality of work isn't professional. I have some of the paver stones loose with in the first week and more now only after a year. I was looking for contractors for my parents, someone who can build a cinderblock wall on my parent's home, deconstruct the old wall and handle all the permits associated with it. I've been building out my yard based on the wifey's vision and dream. Everything from wall to wall was re-done. However, after years of back breaking work on the weekends I decided to just hired a reliable contractor to finish the last landscape/hardscape. I interviewed about 10-12 companies. It's normal to get various estimates but in the end I chose Unique Home Builders. They were not the cheapest nor highest but very reasonable especially since they have a current contractor's license (checked via Contractors State License Board) to include worker's liability insurance. That's important in case a worker gets injured, etc. From the start I worked with Steve Cohen. He was one of their Project Managers. Steve was great at keeping me informed throughout the process and made sure corrections were completed if needed. He stopped by daily to check on the progress and made sure things are on schedule. Have you ever been to a concert and the opening band was better than the headliner? Sometimes things in life exceed our expectations and that's exactly what Nir and his crew did with our driveway. At the beginning, I sent out requests for bids and ended up having 5 companies come over to give me a quote. Unique Home Builders came in at the lowest bid, but my decision was much more than price (*this is always important to note). I just felt a connection and that he was genuine. Not pushy, like the other bidders did immediately. A few suggestions and options were considered, and a follow up appointment so my fiance could meet him as well to make the final decision (as with many households, the husband doesn't get to make the final call so it was important that she felt the company doing the job was genuine). We signed the contract and within two weeks, the entire job was completed. Our house went from looking like Ice Cube's house in the movie Friday, to the house in Fresh Prince of Bel Air. I've only got good things to say about these guys! I worked with Ben and his crew for the backyard of our new construction home. From the beginning of the project to the end of the project, Ben was very responsive and answered all my questions along the way. I was happy to know he was always just a quick text or phone call away. During our consultation, he listened to our wish list and made a ton of recommendations based on that. He was very honest and told us what would and would not work given the amount of space we have - about 500 square feet or so. Ultimately, our goal was to have that cool outdoor LA patio restaurant or coffeeshop vibe. Simple, clean, hip, and cozy. We decided to go with a minimal paver design for the main space with a parameter of planters around the yard. The pavers we picked were a concrete grey 24x24 inch square that were laid straight throughout. For plants, I really wanted to be able to pick them out myself, so I ended up going to a local nursery and buying them there. Rather than paying for delivery with the nursery, Ben's crew was able to pick them up and plant them for me! One thing I wish I would have done was had them install a drip irrigation system and maybe some lights. I was trying to save a couple hundred bucks. But that's nothing an easy DIY project can't complete, right? For price, we found Unique Home Builders to be very fair and competitive. You will for sure get the service and quality you pay for. Obviously prices will vary based on the amount of space you are having done. I say you get a quote for your project and see how it compares to other companies. Ben had availability about a week after we talked, which was nice. They worked very fast and efficiently while maintaining high-quality work. I'm beyond grateful that they were careful (brand new home!), punctual, and cleaned up after working every single day. Overall, I would highly recommend Unique Home Builders. We just had our backyard paved by Unique Home Builders. The difference is night and day. Somehow the open space seem so much more open and roomy. The original quote from UHB was very comparable to other quotes we got from other companies. However, Ben was willing to come down a little bit further on the price and also gave us a 2-year warranty on labor instead of 1 year. Over the course of the project UBH was very responsive, accommodating and very willing to work with me. The team that did the actual labor work were extremely hard workers, very friendly and humble. I had a few changes as work was being done, but the workers were very willing to make course corrections and adjusted. The project took a bit longer to finished than I expected but I am very satisfied with the end result.
