We also…read morereally liked their approach to outdoor spaces - making them beautiful, but also practical and designed around how you'll actually use them. Jonathan and team completely transformed our backyard in under a month. They installed a new lawn, TimberTech deck, native plants, irrigation and drainage, lighting, and tied our existing front-yard irrigation into the new system. The design process was easy and affordable, and Jonathan was on site every day. He was communicative, thoughtful, and paid attention to the little details throughout the project. The whole crew was great to have around and kept everything clean at the end of each day. They even did a thorough final cleanup of the windows and doors around the yard. What we appreciated most was that their care didn't stop once the project was finished. They came back to fix a faulty sprinkler head and later trenched along the grass by the deck when we realized skunks were trying to get underneath. We love how the backyard turned out and how much more we actually use the space now. We'd absolutely recommend Herencia and happily work with Jonathan and team again.

I found them on Yelp and chose them after getting four other quotes. From the beginning, they stood out for their professionalism, responsiveness, detailed proposal, and fair pricing. Ale was fantastic to work with. She was quick to respond, answered all my questions, and made what could have been a stressful project feel smooth and well organized. Once construction started, Jonathan and his team were excellent. They arrive promptly each day and cleanup well. Jonathan is knowledgeable, professional, and clearly takes pride in his work. What stood out most was his communication and transparency. He provided daily updates, either by text or in person, walking me through the progress and explaining what was coming next, which gave me a lot of confidence throughout the project. I also really appreciated his fantastic customer service and follow-through. For example, the game light I purchased arrived broken from the manufacturer, and Jonathan came back promptly after the project was finished to install the replacement once it arrived. The entire project took about a week, and the final result exceeded my expectations. The court and surrounding landscaping look amazing, drain properly, and have completely transformed our backyard. Seeing my son excited to play on it every day makes it even more worth it. I highly recommend Herencia Landscaping to anyone looking for high-quality, reliable, and professional outdoor work. I would definitely hire them again.

Our home was in desperate need of landscaping after a major renovation. The grass had not been…read morewatered for over a year and the only signs of life were some jurassic looking weeds. Both our front and backyard were atrocious. After having dinner in West Adams, we noticed a landscaping office next door. We wanted to work with a local business that also worked with local nurseries and decided to get a quote with Green Grounds. They put me in touch with Guillermo, who I think is the boss. He came by and gave us a reasonable quote for the front yard and fencing around the back. I'd say it's definitely not the cheapest quote but i found it reasonable for the amount of work we were going to do. We weren't ready yet for the backyard but wanted to at least get the front done. We ended up getting a quote for: - dry scape front yard - fencing removal and replacement - plants - gravel - lighting - watering drip system - iron reinforced pavers for driveway It was a lot of work and on the hottest day of the year, their crew showed up with about 8 people to get work done quickly. We were shocked at just how quick things were! In addition, Guillermo did a great job communicating with us, suggesting certain plants and designs, etc. We met him at a local nursery to walk through and pick out plants. He is a walking plant encyclopedia. Show him a plant, he knows exactly what it is! He brought us samples of gravel and were able to choose right away what we wanted for our yard. In a short 5 days, our front yard was brand new and our jenky fence was a secure wooden fence with swinging gate to the backyard access. Not only was the quality of work excellent, but the short amount of time it took them was extremely impressive. We really wanted them to return to do our backyard. Again, we got a quote - this time it was going to be more extensive - leveling the backyard - french drain to divert water away from structures - demo and removal of existing weeds and uglies - plants, trees, privacy hedges, gravel - artificial turf - pavers (with artificial turf in between pavers) - Watering drip system - lighting - decking update to accommodate for land removal - fencing update to accommodate for land removal - laying down brick in a small area This was definitely a lot of work. I initially wanted to see if we could get LA County to give us some rebate money but we did not qualify. this delayed us signing up and submitting our deposit for about a month. However, after finally committing to the project and submitting our $1K deposit, unfortunately by that time Green Grounds had a bunch of other projects. They weren't able to get to ours until 2 months later. it was a long wait but ultimately, it was absolutely worth it! Again, the crew came out - this time on the coldest day! 8-10 people for demo, excavation, pavers, plants, etc. It was a massive project and they completed it in 6 days! I am so happy with the result. I am also extremely impressed with Green Grounds - their work quality, ethic, and professionalism. At the end of it, they even cleaned up my front yard and made it look brand new again! Highly recommend this company for anyone looking for a some professional landscaping.

Instead, we're left with a long list of problems and a company that refuses to take responsibility. Here's what we got for $30,000: 1. Backyard slopes toward the house! We hired them to fix drainage, but now rainwater could run straight toward our living room and sliding doors. How does a landscaping company get something this basic wrong? 2. Sprinklers spray directly onto our house. They installed sprinkler heads right next to the stucco walls and sliding doors. Every time they run, our house gets soaked! 3. Poorly installed sump pump area. They left a deep depression right in our walkway--a tripping hazard. Soil can wash into the basin, and the pump system appears to have drainage issues. 4. Drain covers cemented shut! Seriously? How are we supposed to clean or maintain the drains? 5. Stucco clearance ignored. Landscaping materials were left piled too high against parts of our exterior walls, creating potential moisture problems. 6. Front steps and landing already sinking! Brand-new work, and it's already showing signs of settlement. And the worst part? Their response. After multiple emails and photos documenting these problems, Guillermo and Alexis disputed responsibility for the grading and claimed it was done according to my instructions. I NEVER told anyone to slope the lawn toward my house! We hired professionals to FIX our drainage problems, not leave us worrying about flooding every time it rains. I've now filed a formal complaint with the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB). Over $30,000 spent, and this is what we're dealing with. Absolutely unacceptable. I would NEVER recommend Green Grounds. I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

She also took the time to explain how to properly care for everything afterward. The finished garden turned out even better than I imagined, and nearly six months later, it still looks amazing! We contacted Artscape and from the get-go, Ben responded promptly. Ben asked us to fill out a landscape needs/wants questionnaire which provided him with a general idea of our vision. My wife wanted more of a succulent dominant landscape whereas I wanted more color and plant textures. Ben spent a considerable time incorporating our thoughts into a cohesive plan and a landscape design to fit our topography and climate. This was a dynamic process with a lot of communication. With our budget in mind, Ben provided alternative plant choices and explained the reasoning in a thoughtful, kind, and professional manner. Ben is an excellent communicator and designer. Once we agreed on the plan, Oscar and Melvin completed the installation. They were always on time, worked tirelessly and surpassed our expectations of professionalism. We received status updates at each milestone and were informed on what work was to take place leading to the next milestone. During the install, they found some leaks in our irrigation system and fixed the leaks. Oscar went above and beyond to help us find and install a modern sprinkler monitoring system which is working wonderfully. We love our new front landscape and updated backyard landscape. Even our neighbors have remarked how much they love looking at the new landscape! We highly recommend Artscape! Ben's leadership and creativity in the design are unsurpassed, and Oscar and Melvin's plan execution produced a beautiful landscape which we will enjoy for years to come.
