Stay away from this provider! I signed up on Angie's List specifically to find a good HW floor refinisher who could do it in the time frame we wanted so we could move into our new home. On our move-in day we found that most of the hardwood floors were not at all smooth, but rather had the texture of rough sandpaper due to incomplete sanding and vacuuming before putting on the varnish. Worse, the main hallway still needs to be sanded, and the laminate was installed so poorly that it is now bowing up off the floor in several areas and needs to be redone.
We wanted them to either: fix the problems themselves or credit us some of the money we have already paid them so we can hire someone else to fix the problems. They have refused to do either. They want us to pay them MORE money to fix a job they messed up in the first place. In the course of filing a formal complaint with the PA Attorney General's office, I found out that their Home Improvement license is EXPIRED as of 12/11/12 but they have it listed as good until 1/15/2015 on Angie's List. Consumer, beware--don't take my word for it--take the time to check them out on the BBB and their trade license # on the Attorney General's office website. Make sure you get references and get their 100% satisfaction guaranteed IN WRITING. Unique Hardwood took our $3,800 and left us completely high and dry, despite their claim of "100% satisfaction and guarantee of all their jobs". read more
