I asked her to use her own judgement, based on what she had available, and then I told her how much I wanted to pay. The arrangement was delivered to my friend that day. When I talked with my friend later on, she told me that the arrangement was absolutely stunning and really brightened her day. I would definitely use Buell's again if I needed flowers for someone in their area.

I was quoted $30 and was told that the bouquet would include roses. My husband picked up the following day; the receipt was $37, and when I called to question the price, and the lack of roses, the owner Carol stated that we never agreed on a price or flowers and proceed to state "I don't have time for this. I have funeral arrangements to work on that are which more important, if you are that worried over $5 send your husband in to get your $5 back" and hung up. Upon trying to call back she wouldn't answer any calls. The flowers weren't fresh and a very small bouquet. I wanted to try and give business to a local shop, but will 100% never return here. Charging more than promised not right, not delivering the promised products and on top of that treating the customer like trash when questioned! Please look elsewhere for your floral needs!

****** BEWARE - DO NOT USE************…read more **"I wanted to take a moment to share an incredibly disappointing experience with Roma Florist, Thomaston. During an already difficult time after the passing of my mother-in-law, a thoughtful friend sent me a flower arrangement to lift my spirits. Unfortunately, when the flowers arrived, they were far from fresh--muted in color, with brown edges on the roses and carnations. I contacted the florist, and they offered to pick up the arrangement and deliver a fresh one. When the flowers were picked up, the delivery person stated they were fresh but I pointed out the brown edges on the carnations and roses that were clearly visible. Despite their promise to make things right, no replacement was ever delivered. Worse yet, when the sender followed up this morning with the owner (I believe the one with the accent) she refused to issue a $91.00 refund OR provide the new arrangement they had promised. It's disheartening to see a business treat grieving customers this way. I expected compassion and professionalism, but instead, I was met with poor service and broken promises. If you're considering using Roma's Florist, Thomaston, I'd think twice--because they certainly don't stand by their word. Now, we're out both the flowers and the money--without any resolution or acknowledgment. I'm sharing this to ensure others don't have to go through the same frustration. A little kindness goes a long way, and unfortunately, that's something this business seems to lack."**. The only reason they got one star is because I couldn't leave it blank!!****

Glad to say that the site led me to a business I could trust and which yielded good results. So... some context: someone I used to know lost someone very close to them very suddenly. Wanting to show care and compassion, I looked up local florists, surveyed their reviews and inventory and made a short list of businesses that could get the job done in a respectful and meaningful way. The team at Sweet Pea's was receptive, helpful and fast. They put together a condolence basket that the recipient could share with family and show that all involved were thought of. I tipped for faster service and that tip was well-spent. The turnaround was lightning fast and the actual basket was something of value. One quote about it that I remember was that the basket was 'shockingly heavy' and filled with items the recipient could use. Here's the twist: said recipient would turn around and stab me in the back so horribly it took quite a while to recover. You would think such an association would cause me to give Sweet Pea's a bad review. Nope. Sending condolences is always the right thing to do even if the recipient is unkind and untrustworthy. Sweet Pea's provided a well-received and well-valued service in a very quick window and I'm appreciative of that... even given the circumstances of how things turned out.

CONCEPT: The nursery and garden, Cricket Hill Garden, was one of the first nurseries in the U.S. to offer "true-to-name" Chinese tree peonies to home gardeners and landscape designers. Names such as "Tree Lotus on Icy Mountain" and "Red Cloud reflected in Snow" evoke the imagination and for me add to the charm of these peonies. EXPERIENCE: One of the most attractive features of Cricket Hill Garden is the ability to observe and gain insight about how to best support peony flourishing in northwest Connecticut. With decades of peony growing experience, the family has established nationally-recognized expertise. A wide range of blooming peonies as well as hard-to-find fruit trees can be picked up at the nursery at Cricket Hill Garden, while others can be ordered for fall shipment. A sense of what is available can be found on the Cricket Hill Garden's website (www.treepeony.com). TIPS: Check out the website's events page as well; the Furmans help educate others about optimal growing conditions. The Furman family welcome visitors to their flower garden Wednesday-Saturday, between 10 and 4. There, a variety of peonies, including tree, intersectional, and herbaceous, can be seen in bloom each spring. Reports of blooms can be found on the garden's Instagram account.
