I really like this thrift store but I had to give it fewer stars because of its pricing. I've found some really great things here but If you happen to find something "name brand" (i'm talking Gap, Banana Republic etc) you're going to pay for it. I'm not real fond of this process since i'm not searching specifically for brand name stuff and if i happen to like something that is it's like $14.00+ depending on the item. I looked up a dress I bought there and it was only half off the retail price, not bad but not really what you expect at a thrif store. It does have a good selection of vintage clothes and dresses which, if not name brand, are pretty resonable. Everything is fairly well organized and they seem to be constantly re-stocking and re-organizing throughout the day. I've only gone on Fridays which I was told is 25% off if you have a VIP card , which you can get any day except friday, and accordinly it was pretty busy but not too awful. Other reviews say they have fitting rooms but I didn't notice them on my trips there. They have mirrors which is what I used and that worked out pretty well. read more

This was a huge thrift store. I went with one intention--getting furniture. Granted a thrift store's merchandise is constantly changing I was rather disappointed with the crap that made it to the floor. I saw some pretty nasty stains on some of the merchandise. I'm sorry a child's recliner shouldn't be full of some mystery stain. Plus side--I did find a great lamp and some cute glasses. read more

Super busy for a place that is priced way higher than Savers, Goodwill or Salvation Army but offers the same quality items (ie donated). Where silver plated items are only a couple dollars at the Goodwill, albeit in need of polishing, the equivalent silver-plated items at Unique were tagged, scratch that, written on with eraseable art crayon (yep, that's how cheap the store is) at $15. And yes, they also needed polishing. I saw a salad spinner that was taped closed (though I don't know if that meant it was brand new or just packed that way to keep the parts together) that was for sale for $9. As I could get a brand new one at Bed Bath Beyond for $15, I passed because I intended to use the spinner for a different purpose than cooking. Also clientele is a strange mix of hobby thrift shoppers, those who humbly shop at thrift stores because that's all they can afford, and lastly, people who look like they'd snatch things from your cart and fight you over a $5 item because they saw it first while it was sitting in your hands. read more

This store is so well organized! You can find amazing brands and the items are priced about right for this area. You could be paying around $5-$7 for a shirt and $10-$12 for a sweater or jacket. However, the items are worth the price and they are in good condition. Amazing store and I would strongly recommend checking it out if you are in the area. read more

Very large, well-organized thrift shop. I can always find something- books, clothing, knick knacks. The only thing I didn't like was waiting in line for the fitting room. You can only bring 3 items in at one time, and there are only two fitting rooms, so it takes awhile to try on a cart load of clothes! read more

We had the worst experience here. We were looking for snow pants for our kid. All the snow pants were $18 - $20. These same snow pants were $15 new at the department store before the first snow. While looking through these we found him a nice snow suit for $15. We brought it to the register and the cashier said something in a not understandable foreign language. The manager then took the snow suit and said "This is not for sale!" We told him that we found it on the rack with the other ones but he said "not for sale" and took it in back. Needless to say we left and will NEVER go back to this store. If you want a really good store try the Salvation Army on 42! They have a lot of stuff and don't charge outragous prices. Unique use to be my favorite place to find great accessories for my home, since it was bought by Savers they have just a bunch of crap now. The parking lot that was once full is usually empty now, I have a feeling most people feel the same way I do. read more

Clean and well organized with the friendliest associates. From the cashiers to the drive up donation drop off, the Burnsville Unique has the nicest employees and is the cleanest facility. I am impressed@ the variety of goods here and the prices are becoming reasonable again. I've been a regular thrifter@ Burnsville since 2005 and through the revolving door of employees to the inflated pricing on their merchandise, I am happy to see things change for the good. Overall they finally have knowledgable sorters and are more now than ever fairly pricing their product accordingly. Keep a keen eye still. read more

I don't know how this poor excuse for a store can even call themselves a thrift store anymore. Yesterday I found a book on CD that they were charging $21 for! The worst part is that the box was empty! It is not an uncommon occurrence anymore to find items at Savers and Unique that priced above their new MSRP. I know other people who frequent the thrift shops in my area and most of them say they don't even stop at Savers and Unique anymore for this reason. This USED GOODS store is going to price themselves out of business and I say good riddance. read more

I'm retired and shop at 3 of the stores. I like the variety. But when it comes to prices - they are way to high. Infact this last labor day with 50% off I saw winter jackets that had the price changed on the ticket much higher than the original price. I know they too have to profit but don't think we are all ignorant as far as what you are doing. I think they are loosing some of their stars because they are not customer orianted as they were in the past. read more

I like this place as a person who donates. The workers at the donation door are friendly and help to unload donations. They are fast so there is no waiting in a long line to donate. And of course, they provide donation receipts good for tax deductions. The book area is my favorite area for purchases. They have a big selection for a reasonable price. read more

I go to thrift stores quite a bit, and am always happy to find a great bargain. I mean, isn't that what thrift stores are about?? But you won't find that at Unique. There are a FEW deals but they are few and far between. I went there in search of a pair of brown sandals...I found a cute pair of PREVIOUSLY WORN sandals...priced at (and I'm not even kidding) $24.99. WHAT!? I can go to Target and purchase a BRAND NEW pair of sandals for that price!! What in the world makes these people think that previously worn sandals are worth $24.99?? That's when I literally decided I was done with this store. I stopped shopping and walked out. I have been there before and purchased a few items...and always thought they were overpriced. And I usually will head off to other thrift stores (Goodwill, Savers, etc) but I was in the area and thought I'd give it another shot. If I wanted to pay higher prices for previously used items, I'd go to Clothing Mentor - where everything is VERY clean, and in pristine condition. The sandals I looked at weren't even in that great of condition! I'm still stunned. Save your money and hit up garage sales...you'll find better items there. read more

Wow this place is just plain HORRIBLE!!!! Yesterday my nieces went in there to find a halloween costume, after looking at items for less then 10 min they were approached and accused of stealing.... stealing.. really!!! The person who spoke little to NO english was very very rude and insisted they give them there credit cards and student ids. When that wasnt good enough they asked my one niece to go to the ATM and get cash, apparently she wasnt moving fast enough because they barked orders at her to MOVE FASTER!!! Guess what the poor girl has Cerebral palsy asking her to move faster is like a cheap shot at her condition!!! The police were called and while the girls sat there scared and confused the employees mocked and harassed them. When the police arrived they were taken in the back while the officer reviewed the survalence video and guess what... they WERE NOT stealing, not even close!! The cop told them that they had done nothing wrong, that the store was wasting his time... if you go into this store be careful... you could be next... and if you have a condition your prone to their mocking!!! They are only getting one star because i dont have the option to give NONE!!!!! read more

Went here on the 18th , had high expectations, was very dissapointed. The store is clean and well kept . people were nice enough, but the prices did not reflect a thrift store. One example of many, we went across the street to the Burnsville Mall and purchased a jacket for about $3 more than one my wife saw at Unique. If not for the mall, would of been a wasted trip for us to just go to Unique. read more

So, for bookworms like me, this place just became the best place in town to buy books. They recently expanded their book section, now categorize them by genre, and sell every paperback for $1.49, every hardback for $2.49, and every kids book for $0.69! And I think Harlequin novels are like 4 for $1.49. I use an e-reader and still find myself buying books here since they are so incredibly cheap. read more

The prices here just keep going up. Used sweaters have gone from $7.99ish(still kinda high) to $14.99! For a used sweater! And the discontinued their punch card program. It's very disappointing, I'll look to other thrift stores these days. read more

Is it just me or have the prices gotten too high? Some of the prices are more than the items were sold for in the store. I see a lot of the same stock there week after week, lower the prices get rid of it. I saw a Gap blouse for $6.95, it had two rips in it. read more

this is a great place to search out those fabulous finds! but, lately, the pricing is sooooooo outrageous that you could buy the same item-new-and pay less for it! you really have to know your prices before going-otherwise, neat, organized, and staff is hard at work. in this economy, everyone needs a break-people in real need would have a hard time affording some of the things here- being as items are donated-gouging probably isn't a good business practice either. read more

Unique used to be a really well priced thrift store,but in the past few years it has really gotten quite pricey.I still go once in awhile because they do have a huge selection & usually find something to drag home,but I don't buy near the quantities I did because of the high prices.:( read more

This used to be a great place to find treasures, but I don't know what happened, their prices have sky-rocketed, which is really sad since their goods are donated. After my last trip there I saw a pair of cute boots, guess how much? TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY NINE DOLLARS!!!!! For used boots, I could go get a brand new pair of uggs for less. That was it. I would not recommend this place...there are plenty of other thrift shops that have fair prices for their goods. They will be getting my business, not these rip off artists. read more

The prices they charge are way over their worth which would be okay if I thought the money was going to help people pull themselves out of poverty. I know that they pay some organizations by the truck load for things they have picked up from various places but, what do they use the sales monies for? I love the unique store. The gold jewelry is way too over priced. It is jewelry store priced. The best time to buy it is when the store has their percent off sale. I have found a few gold pieces that slipped through the cracks. I know how to look for hallmarks on pieces that usually can't be seen by the naked eye.. Eureka! Love the purse section. I don't know why, but the knock off ones are outrageously priced, and the authentic ones are cheap! HUH! I found an authentic Chanel purse for only $9.95! Well gotta go, off to the Unique store. I have to admit I think this place is under new management now, the place is cleaner and the employees are actually polite now! I don't go very often because this place is mostly filled with overpriced, broken, soiled garbage. The knick-knacks are pretty much all broken or chipped. Also, be aware that should you find some treasure, unbroken, and at an actual reasonable price-the cashier may not sell it to you at this price. I was with a friend around Christmas 2012 when she found a delightful and, surprise-surprise, unbroken vintage dog statue for $3.99. This was the actual price on the item (done with those awful grease pencils), it hadn't been altered or changed. The cashier (rude, of course-but that was pretty much the norm prior to this year/2013), said the item should have been priced higher and refused to sell it to her at the price it was marked. My pal asked to speak to the manager about it and the guy was just nasty about it. My friend refuses to set foot in this place again- I went last week just because I was specifically looking for something (which they didn't have) and noticed the place seemed a lot cleaner and the help was actually polite, if not pleasant. Same old overpriced, often broken merchandise...I don't even look at the clothes-the pricing on those is criminal. So, you might find the occasional treasure-but be aware that you may not get it for the price it is marked. read more

DONT SHOP HERE!! UNIQUE - BURNSVILLE MN- I brought an item up to the register for not having a tag on it. Other items on the same rack were $7.00 - $12.95, so I just wasn't sure what the price was. The clerk went to find the manager to find a price. She comes back with $39.99 price for a jacket just like the one on the rack for $12.95. Keep for flippen jacket that you got free from someone that thinks your giving a good deal to someone that is in need. NOT WORTH IT! read more

I'm not much of a thrifter but I do occasionally do the garage sale thing. I was very disappointed about the Unique store in that the prices were quite high and the organization in sizing was lacking. I went there specifically looking for a white blouse that I could modify for my daughter's Halloween costume. I found that things were not organized by size or color...just by tops, bottoms etc. I did however find the perfect accessory for her costume, but wait... They couldn't sell it to me because it was not priced. Are you kidding me????? There was nobody there that could put a price on the item and the cashiers are not allowed to make that decision. Isn't this stuff DONATED? I could not believe that they could not put a price on a simple item that was afterall, donated. Regardless, they would have made a profit. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. Not sure that I'll ever go back. I saw several things that did not have a price on them. I don't have the time or the energy to return to the store the next day to see if something has been marked yet or not. Not worth it to me. For gosh sakes, empower your employees to make a decision. Bummed that I didn't get the perfect accessory as I will probably not find another one like it, but too miffed to worry about it. read more
