From regular cuts to asymmetrical lines, key color theme that runs across the shop ranges from black, white and grey. Patterns and basics clashes to lift the normal shirt into an extraordinary design. If you are looking for clothes that are affordable yet stands out, Chapel is the place to go. To top it up, check out their wide range of accessories to complement your outfit. Located on Leighton Road, this huge Jack Wills is well away from the hustle and bustle of Causeway…read moreBay. Its exterior, with the large shop windows and signature gold lettering, is recognizable from about a mile away. This outlet is the first and the biggest outlet in HK. Because of its size, it's really well stocked - you'll be able to find a good range of summer dresses, formal wear and accessories here. I love how spacious the store is - there's plenty of walking space and unlike many stores in HK where everything is so packed you just feel claustrophobic, this particular Jack Wills has the luxury of space and is very nicely laid out. Upon stepping into Jack Wills from its main entrance (there's another entrance that is closer to Times Square), you will notice that there are two floors and from there you can either walk up or down. The female section and accessories used to be on the higher floor, but a couple of months back they flipped it and now it's on the lower floor. I guess because there's slightly more floor space downstairs? I'm not sure. The style at Jack Wills needs no introduction - it's more geared at the younger (and richer - the stuff here isn't cheap!) population. It's really collegiate-y and very preppy. If you're into more Asian fashion and are inspired by Japanese and Korean look books, this probably is not what you're looking for. I kind of regard Jack Wills as a British Abercrombie & Fitch, and as with A&F, the prices here can run quite high. The plainest of t-shirts are at least $180 and you can expect to pay upwards of $600 for one of their iconic summer dresses. To be fair, the cutting of their dresses is extremely flattering and they come in all sorts of prints and colors, but I honestly don't think they're worth the price. Jack Wills has one of the coolest changing rooms I've ever seen - it didn't use to be this way when females' was still on the floor above, but ever since its relocation, the changing rooms are actual bedrooms, complete with Jack Will's signature pink and navy wallpaper and a bed! The last time I used their changing rooms was back in I think April, so I don't know if that's still how it is, but I was certainly shocked when I was led into a bedroom when I asked to try something on! Overall, Jack Wills is a nice place to do some window shopping. It's spacious, the staff are polite but not pushy and it never gets crowded. The prices run pretty high so other than a pair of shorts I've never actually bought anything here, but I'll still come by if I'm in the area just to take a quick look.

But I love COS and love that I discovered this store. I am not a fashionista, but I do love well made clothes that look taylored and yet have room to function and move. I always read care labels before a purchase and I do shy away from merino wool because it can pull and not wash well if not extremely well made. COS does have many pieces made of merino wool, so I kind of looked past these items. The clothes might use a lesser quality fabric on many pieces, but the cut and tayloring is current and comparable to items you would find in any high end retailer. The clothes, brand and price point kind of make me think of this brand as higher end than an H&M, less quality and cheaper price than Saks Fifth Avenue brands, equal in cut, structure and function as Marimekko and other equaivalent cut, high-end clothing lines in many ways and very current in the realm of what is happening in fashion. Simple lines, simple colors, modern. For business or casual, COS offers classic pieces I hope to have in my wardrobe for some time. COS is out of England. As stated on their website: "COS is a fashion brand for women and men who want modern, functional, considered design. Offering reinvented classics and wardrobe essentials, we create pieces that are made to last beyond the season. Traditional methods and new techniques merge to form timeless, understated collections. The store itself is a two story structure. Lots of staff if you needed assistance and pretty open space to browse around. Men's clothes are on the second floor. Store seems well organized. There are some comfortable seats throughout if you had a spouse who needed to park it while you look around.

Before departing for Hong Kong I thought to search and see if the city had a COS (H&M's high end…read morecousin) and to my surprise and delight, they had not one but two locations! COS (Collection Of Style) was a wardrobe staple of mine when I lived in London. (COS hasn't yet made it to the USA.) As a regular COS shopper I knew the sizing of the clothes here is often variable (in some items I'm an XS, others I'm a M) so I took armloads into the dressing room. I think this is a good strategy in almost any shop (if you're going to go through the hassle to take your clothes off to try on one item, you might as well try on six, right?) but even moreso here. Think you're a medium? Take a small and a large in with you too! This COS shop is on the medium-large side, with two stories and women's, men's and children's offerings. I tried on heaps of clothing and ended up going home with a fun grey jumper whose sleeves you can turn up to reveal a bright blue inside lining, an oversized sweatshirt dress and a cashmere hat. COS is definitely worth a look if you want to inject some Scandinavian cool into your closet.

The prices are very good, the clothes are good quality and the staff is helpful. We stopped in for a look and ended up spending $900 HKD to get $200 off. We got about 10 items ranging from pants, a jacket, a few shirts and two sweaters. The second time we stopped in (two days later), the promotion ended however, there were discounts on certain items throughout the store. The deals were so good, we wanted to buy more but our suitcases were too full already. I would definitely shop at this store again the next time I am in Hong Kong!

The designers for Zara know what they doing with keeping it's customers fashion forward. The stores are perfectly designed for easy access to view and try on clothing. As opposed to the rest of them Zara is not a designer store, neither a high end brand. It's a medium quality, good design clothing and accessories' store. We all know Zara. It may be argued that it does not match in this location but I think it's great that it's there. Today I wanted to buy a bag and it was almost an emergency...I had kept an old one for way too long. As Topshop in Queensway doesn't have many bags (if any at all) I headed to Zara. None of the other stores crossed my mind. What's more: I knew I could find what I was after - a big black bag, rather simple. This season is plagued with those, with a good range of qualities and prices. I finally got Trafaluc one and I love it, it does its job and it's nicely designed. They also have some pretty brown leather bags in this collection. I did have a look at the clothes too; Zara HK is different to Europe's stores (the ones I know) in many ways...not only the design is more minimalistic and the lines simpler but it is also more expensive and it's positioning differs from Europe's. I found the current collection a little boring but still, great to have a Zara just 2 minutes away from my office!

Otherwise, stand well back, and step away slowly ... If you can. This street is renowned among ex-pat mothers (I'm pretty sure the 'locals' love it too but I'm not connected to too many on Facebook) as a source of cheap and cheerful outfits for little girls who are going to grow out of anything before the next Disney movie comes out, and this is a good place to start. Of course keep your eye out for inappropriate, or just plain wrong (not always the same thing) English language on dresses and T-shirts - although lets face it, sometimes that's half the fun ... especially if they are going to be gifts. Don't for a second think you're safe on the 'shoe' side either! I only just managed to escape without purchasing a pair of pink Dora the Explorer sandals (with flashing lights in the soles). There's a pretty extensive range of children's footwear - boys and girls - on offer and at prices that mean you won't be for-going your daily coffee fix to fund a new pair when the little dear has outgrown their favourite Thomas the Tank Engine sneakers in a matter of weeks. I'm going to be heading back again when the current crop of shoes no longer fit - I just hope Dora and her disco lights have sold out.
