If there ever was a first rate, first class Tae Kwon Do establishment, well look no further because you are home at Union UTA. My children were interested in learning Tae Kwon Do, and my son came home from school one day with a flier for Union UTA. We called and exchanged correspondence with Mr. Robert Nichols, who took the time to explain how the school works. We came to Union UTA where my son's partook in an introductory class. While they were with an instructor, Mr. Nichols's staff further explained how the school works. From here, I enrolled the children in a 2-week trial. You have the flexibility to attend from one to maybe five or six classes a week. It is all at your convenience with no strings attached. Classes are generally between 4 and 8 Mondays through Fridays and in the mornings (9-12) on Saturdays. This is not exact but you can learn more at unionuta.com. My sons loved the classes so much that we are now members. They have their white belts and are on their way. Uniforms are received at no cost and there are no testing fees. Tuition on a monthly basis is very I mean very affordable. And again, you train with as many classes or as little depending on your schedule each week. The instructors are all very nice and interact so very well with the children. There are plenty of other Tae Kwon Do choices out there, but you don't need to look any further than Union UTA off of Morris Avenue in Union, NJ. My daughter has been attending Union's United Taekwondo Academy for more than eight years. She's benefitted so much from the school and its instructors! She is now a second-degree black belt and an instructor in the program. She has literally grown up in the program. The school is really like a second family for us. We know dozens of other families through the school and everyone is friendly and helpful. Three years ago, my husband also joined as a student, and just recently he earned his black belt, too. He has lost weight and become much healthier as a result. Mr. Nichols, the owner, is a terrific role model for his students. He has overcome serious personal injuries and continues to train in various martial arts. He is enthusiastic about the benefits of taekwondo and other martial arts. He instills a sense of responsibility, pride, and self-control into his students. He continues to bring new and exciting programs to the school, such as jujitsu and self-defense. He recently started a meditation program as well. The school offers plenty of classes for children, teens, and adults. Most levels of classes are offered several times a week to fit busy schedules. There is no extra charge for testing, which is unusual for martial arts schools. I highly recommend the school and suggest people give it a try. I signed my daughter up last summer after watching them do a demonstration during the union police's "night out." It has been such a wonderful experience for her. My normally quiet and shy daughter is more outgoing and expressive. Not only are they teaching her the basics of karate and tae Kwan do, but she also learns valuable skills such as dedication, time management, respect, and hard work. The instructors are great. Mr. Nichols (the owner and lead instructor) is knowledgeable, approachable, and very organized. There are always a ton of instructors so that the ration is almost 2 instructors to a child. The instructors (higher ranked students) are mature, friendly, and know what they are doing. As a teacher with ten years of experience, I can truly say that the instructors are great educators. They know all the kids names by heart, make them answer questions about the principles ok karate while giving them clues to help them answer correctly. They also hold them accountable for their behavior and speaking loudly and confidently. I have seen an enormous change to my daughters self confidence as spa result of her time in Union's United Taekwondo academy. I highly recommend them. read more

I highly recommend this school. I'd rate it for 5 Stars but Yelp will not publish it. My children just started 2 months ago and they love it. Not only are my children learning karate, but also their self-esteem has skyrocketed. All the while they are also learning discipline!!! The staff is great with the children because they keep them interested and motivated. At times I want to jump in the class too! I am considering taking up karate again because this school is so friendly. Prices are great because there are no hidden costs and you can go as often as you like. Best of all the kids can try it free for 2 weeks. I haven't seen any other school that offers this - free trial for 2 weeks and attend classes up to 6 days a week. Best part is they do not hand out belts (white, yellow, red, etc....). The children (& adults too) must earn each belt. Working towards a goal for each belt keeps the children motivated to want to do more on their own. They also have parking right behind the dojo/studio. One last thing, the owner and chief instructor Mr. Nichols is great with the children. He also holds black belts in numerous forms of karate. read more

We started coming here in July 2013 after seeing the demo team perform at National Night Out. My daughter's jaw dropped and she said, "Mommy, I want to do THAT". I now have two kids enrolled and frequently recommend Union UTA to others. The school emphasizes self control, respect, personal responsibility, and consistency. So basically, you get a team of people helping you teach your kids the things you're trying to get them to do at home. Pretty impressive for an after-school activity! The school is well maintained, organized, and the owner/head teacher is frequently on-site. I love that the school prioritizes youth leadership. Many of the black belts have trained as instructors. I like that my kids have role models who are senior students in town. Union UTA offers many free introduction experiences as well as discounts for referrals or multiple family members. In a short-time, our son (7 years old) has developed a passion for Taekwondo. After starting here, he has become very goal-oriented and focused on getting the moves so he can get his next belt. The combination of class energy, kind teachers and program is great for not only sparking that initial interest but creating the community and structure a young student needs. There is a huge focus on respect, integrity and leadership which makes it more than just part of our routine but also a way for my son to grow into a strong man. There are great role models here. Best program in the area. Parking is easy on a side street. Kids start as young as 4 and can continue into their teens. Having attended Union's United Taekwondo Academy over the past twelve years has aided with my growth as both a human being and a martial artist. This school isn't your average kicking and punching clinic, it enables individuals to become leaders both inside and outside of the training academy. These leadership qualities can be achieved through their wonderful instructor program; a curriculum which takes students from the "apprentice" role and gives them an "administrative" role. As a martial artist that has been involved in this program, I can honestly say it has made a tremendous impact on my public speaking skills and leadership qualities. This is really a 5 star school. Great customer service and an amazing staff. From the moment I walked in we were greeted by several staff members and made to feel we were important. My 2 kids got a private lesson with an instructor that was very well trained. They are very upfront and reasonable about cost and expectations. Very inexpensive compared to other local schools and especially for what you are getting. I studied a bit as well and I know that most schools charge for testings, these guys DONT! Another great thing was the amount of instructors on the floor. There was tons of help available for all the kids. I was even told during my conference that they are going to expand and be even bigger! I am very excited to see what this school has in store for my family for many years to come. read more

I have been attending this school since the age of four. It has been at least eleven to twelve years now and I'm still a part of this amazing program. This school is a big part of my life and I don't know where I would be without it. I have gained confidence, self control, and respect. As someone who started martial arts not really knowing if I could hack it, finding UTA was a gift. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. At UTA we are like a family and weather it's your first class or you've been at the school for 10 years everyone here learns from each other. We learn to be driven, to never give up, to be better people, and well... to be great martial artists. The amazing amount of skill and knowledge of the large instructor team at UTA means that no class is every quite the same. You'll often find yourself pondering how there can truly be so much to learn. What other school going to take time and send out a GET WELL notice to their student when they are not filling well, my granddaughter was out and she receive got one that was so amazing. UTA is an amazing school, combining Taekwondo with other disciplines resulting in a more interesting & effective way to defend yourself then just relying on one discipline. Mr. Nichols and his staff of black belt instructors, teach each and every class with such a passion that you can't help but feel motivated to learn and push yourself that much further. I have 2 sons enrolled at Union UTA since Sept 2014 and I'm very proud the progress they've made in that time. I an very impressed not only by the fact that my children are learning practical applications to martial arts and self defense, but also by the leadership development program. My 4 year old son recently joined UTA and he is really enjoying the classes. The staff is great and excellent with the kids and they make it very fun. They have a very flexible schedule which is great for working parents. He can go as often as he likes. The owner genuinely cares for his students and pushes them to succeed. When my son got his white belt everyone in the whole dojo stopped to clap for him and congratulate him, I realize a white belt is no big deal but it sure felt like a big deal to my son. This is a great place for the whole family to train. There are classes for kids, teens and adults. After being a spectator for about 4 years (watching my son earn his black belt) I decided to join myself. 4 years later I now have my black belt and my son has his 2nd degree black belt. I have 2 boys that are currently brown belts at Union UTA. In the past 3 years they have learned discipline, dedication, hard work, and most importantly how to defend themselves. UTA has a dedicated staff that practically teach one to one. Their schedule works well with all families. Everyday they provide an early and a late class. If a child is having problems learning any forms, or trouble with defence moves, their dedicated staff will take time to individually teach to master.
