I went in and sat down. The server was nice and brought my coffee and water, and I decided on the buffet (~$13). The biscuits were heavy and good - the gravy was thicker than I like, but still good. Bacon was big but flimsy (I like a bit crispier) and the sausage links were good. There were scrambled eggs available, and they were real (not watery/powdered), but seemed to have sat in their container for a while. Also, the shredded hash browns were soft - I like crispy potatoes. The buffet also had pancakes, French toast and fruit, but I passed on those. You could tell the restaurant was a local favorite - several people were chatting across tables while I was there. Nice and clean (didn't visit restrooms), and thought the price was good overall. Definitely homemade food!

The bar is in an old historic building and the mural says the bar has been in operation for 120 years. That's a long time of weathering events such as prohibition, wars and the Great Depression. But in a small town like Brazil, you need a good bar. Inside, the bar is ancient, but tidy and comforting. I grab a seat at a high top table. Our server, Deniela, was fantastic, gave us the low down on daily specials and made a few recommendations. Water came out quickly, as did food. She checked on us regularly. I had the daily special, prime rib burrito, which was very good. The prime rib was tender and juicy. The rice was much more flavorful than the usual Tex mex rice. I loved my meal. My husband tried the breaded pork tenderloin. The breading was perfectly seasoned and the large loin was moist and tender. The bun was good, too. The hand cut chips were delicious. (I ate half his chips and could have made a meal of them.) There is street parking. I recommend a visit, but expect to be rooting for Alabama on game day. The food is delicious.

In the winter, we have a special corner table in an alcove. There's a bar and big-screen in another room. I would rather eat at this restaurant than anyplace in Bloomington. Why? Because the food is good, the parking is easy, and the tables are not close together. We can talk without feeling any intrusion.
