There's A Home Goods too but not sure that's an actual anchor store. It's a beautiful mall to walk around and shop. Lots of smaller stores many of which I had never heard of. A smaller food court compared to most malls. For there only being 3 days until Christmas I was shocked at how dead it was. We had pictures with Santa at 12pm and I got there early as I anticipated a full parking lot. But nope no issues parking. Found Santa right away in the middle of The mall by JCPenney. That truly is a beautiful set that he's in. He's also a good looking Santa! We didn't stop in or purchase anything in the stores, although we did walk thru Round 1 which was a cool arcade / small bowling venue. Lots of empty stores. . The center elevator was also out of order. So you I'd be nice to see a restaurant in here and eventually attend the Mammoth hockey practice arena to watch them practice. Also a Mammoth or Jazz souvenir shop would be really ideal.

Most people don't really look at malls as individual entities anymore. The Commons does nothing to change that with its minimal number of identifying signs and directory maps, labyrinth road and confusing parking, as well as its "outdoor mall" layout. My one minor issue is as you walk from store-to-store and on the sidewalk, there aren't side-awning signs. For some stores, this means peering inside or walking into the street to see what store it is. The stores are The Commons biggest selling point. There are plenty of restaurants: Mikado, Five Guys, Chipotle, Slapfish, Rumbi, Pei Wei, Paradise, Wild Zucchini Grill, and Firehouse. There's a lot geared toward women: Alta, DSW, Nordstrom Rack, Seasons Boutique, a nail shop, a bridal store, and a Bed, Bath, and Beyond. There's a PGA Golf Store and a Sports Clips for the men to burn time. Overall, a nice place to spend a Saturday afternoon! :)

This setup is pretty common-outdoor store entrances that face the streets, not like the indoor mall of the 80's and 90's. The nice thing here is you can easily navigate to the store you're here for. Or you can park on one end and walk up and down the row and hit many shops along the way. Parking is plentiful-there are stalls in front of all the stores, as well as larger parking areas scattered throughout. Be aware that many of the roads are one way, so watch for that. But I've never had a problem finding a spot, even on the busiest of days. They are also well lit at night, which I appreciate. The variety of stores that you'll find here are also pretty common in these types of places-a few big box stores (Ross, Michael's, Kohl's) as well as a handful of other chain restaurants and shops. Of course, there's the token cell phone stores mixed in with boutiques. I like the charm of it-a little something for everyone, and maybe check off a few errands while you're there too.

The entire center is very clean, kid friendly, and there's definitely enough parking, even during events. I would rather drive 20 miles out of my way for a mall that has an abundant number of products and services I need to get stuff done. Luckily for me, The Shops at Fort Union are near me. Because of their location near the junction of Midvale, Cottonwood Heights, and Sandy, it's close to a heckuva lot of people in the SL Valley. The first thing I like is that it serves more a close-to-home crowd rather than the business lunch or general shopping crowd of say a Commons or The Shops at South Town. The tent pole store of The Shops at Fort Union is the Smith's: A tried-and-true grocery store with good prices and a stellar selection. The Commons and South Town don't. There's also a Walmart and -- at least very important to me -- is a Petco: toys, training, and grooming for my dogs. Obviously, food is important to us Yelpies! I find myself at Five Guys Burgers and Fries the most. There's also J Dawgs, Chick-Fil-A, Firehouse Subs, The Pie (the best pizza in town, and they deliver), Waffle Love, a Rumbi, Dickey's, Jamba Juice, Starbucks, Teriyaki Express, Nagoya Sushi, Chili's, etc. There also several clothes-centric stores: Lane Bryant, Ross, Mr. Mac, Gordman's, and even DSW shoes. I could list places forever. My only beef is there is a complex right next to it with a Original Pancake House, a Wich Which, Coldstone, etc. that apparently aren't a part of the complex ... they aren't directly accessible and more of a pain to get to than they need to be. Overall though, a great place to shop!

I especially love the open seating areas and the upbeat music that is synchronized with the water to put on a show. Many of the restaurants are a bit on the higher end scale, however there are some chain fast food joints too-so maybe a little something for everyone. The shopping ranges from big box stores to more luxury brands and everything in between. Parking is plentiful (thank you, Lord!), which is so often an afterthought in places like this.

But that may be unfair-like an elaborate Thanksgiving dinner with too many delicious options, this cornucopia of shopping boasts a little something for everyone. So I can't blame the developers/planners for continuing to add rather than subtract from all the options. That is what makes this mall so great, after all. The variety of stores and eateries attract people-lots of people. And when everyone comes at the same time, that's when things get dicey. The parking lot is atrocious. If it's Saturday or virtually any day in December, forget about it. If you can do your shopping at 11am on a Tuesday, you might have better luck finding a parking spot. I've heard lots of stories about windows being smashed out and items stolen out of vehicles. Don't leave anything in sight. I know I'm sounding negative-but I really do love this mall. It has all the stores I need-so if the management decides to take any away to ease up on the congestion, just consult with me first and I'll let you know which ones to keep and which ones can go. ;-) Kidding.
