If you are staying in the downtown area of Toronto and flying into to Toronto Pearson, taking the Express Train is the ideal method of transportation that won't break the wallet or pocketbook for those who carry them. Train is clean, has wi-fi and is a 25-35 minute ride from the airport to Union Station in Financial district of Downtown Toronto. I was able to purchase my tickets using their mobile app, flash my QR code, board all without delay. You can purchase ride tickets at each of their station locations, but the app is more convenient for those of us who travel. it also allows you to see past trips and include receipts for expense reports. This will be my primary mode of getting to downtown from the airport.

I love taking the UP Express to and from the airport. Traffic can be very bad in Toronto downtown and with the UP Express, it makes things a lot easier. Especially planning on getting to the airport. It takes about 30 mins to and from the airport. The wait time between each train is about 15 mins during the day. There are three other two other stops between Union Station and the airport. Some locals use the UP Express as their daily commute to work. The cost to take the UP Express to and from the airport is $12.35per trip.

This way to get to the city!

I love cities that have an express train into downtown. Toronto gets it right, but then so did Vancouver and Seoul and Taipei and Beijing and Seattle and Chicago and Boston and Atlanta. My home city of Charlotte could do better and perhaps they will one day. Anyway, Toronto. As I exited the immigration hall, I spotted an official Union Pearson Express counter with a staff person working. I told her what I needed, she easily sold me a return ticket and directed me to the right spot. Delta arrives at Terminal 3, UP is at Terminal 1. There's a train and just follow the signs. I followed the signs and found my way quite easily. On board the train, plenty of room for luggage and I took a seat where I could keep an eye on my bag. At the seat, a small flip-down table, a three-prong power outlet and a free wifi signal. This is great stuff. The train ride to Union Station was quick, smooth and effortless. Union Station is a *%$#@ cluster, but that's not UP's fault. The summary? I'm a fan. This was excellent. [Review 11004 overall, 777 of 2019.]

I was pleased to know that I could take a train that was located within the airport complex to downtown Toronto in about 25 min. The Union Pearson Express is an airport rail link running between Union Station in Downtown Toronto and Toronto Pearson International Airport. The train was very comfortable and had plenty of luggage compartments for airport travelers. And in addition I had no problem purchasing a ticket on the train. The conductor was patient and very pleasant.

Either by your ticket or use your presto card

This train is AWESOME!! Where do I even start to describe how great it is? You either pay for your ticket or tap your Presto card and you're off. Seats are quite spacious with a place for you to store your luggage near the exits. I also love how there's a plug in each seat section so you could easily charge your devices--something I desperately needed since my flight drained a lot of my batteries. There's also a map to show you the stops and there are three stops before you reach Union Station. The train comes every 30 minutes so you don't have to wait long for the next one. As you board the train, try to get a seat in the last cart because that's where the head of the train will be once it starts moving. I found it hilarious that the first two carts were super packed with people and I had to move to one of the further carts to find a good seat. Nonetheless, you won't regret walking just a little further for a seat near the front of the train. If you used your Presto Card, remember to tap when you get off! I actually got off the train at Bloor and found that it was not the Bloor station that I expected on Yonge but Bloor and Dundas West. It was fine, I just walked to the TTC station, which was just around the corner, and boarded the subway to get me where I needed to go. Since I tapped to get off before Union, I only paid $5.95, which isn't bad at all. Would I utilize this service again, HECK YES!!

Overall - this a good airport compared to others…read more For my fellow US travelers, the process is a bit different than US airports. First, if you're flying domestic - you won't have an ID check until you actually board your flight. If you're traveling to the US - you will clear US Customs and Border Protection here at YYZ. This is awesome because you don't have to wait in the long arrival lines in the US. If you have Nexus or Global Entry - the experience will be even quicker! In most of my experiences here, the security line moves fast - but the actual screening is slow. Not sure how that makes sense, but it's been my experience. If your luggage gets marked for secondary inspection, that process can be slow. While doing intra-Canada travel yesterday, the secondary screening added an additional 25 minutes for me. Today, the process was a bit faster. Once in the secure area, there is plenty of shopping and there are plenty of lounges. Now go get some maple syrup and poutine, eh!

Toronto Pearson might just be the worst airport I have been to in any 1st world country…read more The terminal is consistently dirty. The bathrooms are in disrepair. The terminal is huge, the signage is terrible and the customer service from those who work there is, well, to be blunt, non-existent. I know it must be hard to operate a big airport. But, if New York or Chicago or Amsterdam or Mexico City (or any city really) can do better than you, take it to heart that you need some serious retraining and upgrading. If I ever have to travel to Toronto again, I will try and fly into the little airport just off the downtown area in the lake. Toronto Pearson might just be the worst airport I have been to in any 1st world country. I thought that needed repeating!!!

He did give me some obvious hint that he wants more tips for his troubles... i end up gave him 20 CAD on the good side, i enjoyed the car... i reserved a "mid-sized car" and i end up getting a 2017 Civic. that was nice. there was a $750 deposit which they'll return to you after you return the car my sister in law end up getting some wierd charges on her bill... i didn't get those wierd charges... but it's better to remember to ask for an itemized receipt. it's not a totally horrible car rental place especially if you come in prepared... the price is indeed cheaper than others... but if you are short on time, i do suggest you find some other rental places

Overall, the lack of customer support, poor communication, and unprofessional handling of the situation made this a very disappointing experience. I chose the left most lane because as I was driving into the area, there was a car coming toward us (probably driven by an agent on its way out) and the left most lane would have avoided any further cars coming in this way (and there were headlights from another car that were on and facing us). As I was parking, I saw the agent who was watching our car but she did not do anything at the time. When we started getting out, she came over and immediately started berating us, saying this lane is only for cars that have issues and need work done. She said she kept waving us over into a different lane, but no one in the car saw her and in fact I was looking right at her while I was parking and she just stood there. First of all, how are we supposed to know that lane is only for vehicles with issues? We even pointed out to her that the lane was clearly marked "returns" and she even said "yes I know that but I was waving to you." Again no one in the car saw her and I watched her as I was parking. There was no signage that said "for cars with issues only." Second, she could have tried a different approach and simply said "do you think you can move into this lane instead? It would help us out." And then I would have moved the vehicle the little bit she wanted it moved and would have forgotten about it. Third, we happened to have a dashcam on the vehicle which recorded all of this. I took snapshots: Picture 1: Car coming towards, us, which is why we went to the left lane to avoid further cars coming too close to us. Picture 2: You can see the lane marked "returns." There are no signs that say "for cars with issues only." Picture 3: You can clearly see the agent. This is not someone frantically waving at us Picture 4: The agent is looking right at us. Still not waving Picture 5: The agent actually turns around from us. This is not someone who is frantically waving at us! Picture 6: Close up of the agent Picture 7: Another close up of the agent (after she turned away from us). Again, it does not look like she is trying to get us to move. I filed a complaint with Alamo, and I had to do it twice just to get it to the manager. I emailed Umar Khan who works there, who totally ignored my complaint. The agent was very rude and very unprofessional. I have rented multiple cars over the years and have never been treated like this. We have family in the area we rented the vehicle at but will not be using Alamo ever again. The employees and managers need more customer service training. I cannot fathom a company like Alamo employing such rude and unprofessional agents. This particular agent needs to be talked to and proper action needs to take place against her. What a horrible way to end an otherwise nice vacation. If you have an option, do not rent from here. When I arrived at the counter, the employee working there took my booking confirmation and told me I had only two cars to choose from, (MIND YOU, both of these options ended up being classified as upgrades, even though I was told from the employee that Expedia would cover the difference.). Then I paid for the insurance, being from a different continent, it felt right getting insurance, however I ended up paying a higher amount because of this 'upgraded' vehicle. THEN the part they dont talk to you about, the 19% PR Station Charge. What is it you ask? Well, I didnt know either until 1 week after i dropped off my rental. It is a mandatory charge of 19% which they bill you on anything you get, the vehicle, insurance, extra fuel, fees. When I tried to reach out while I had the rental, they hung up on me 3 times while I was on hold, very classy move there. Upon dropping of my car, i received the day after. I was charged for 15 liters of fuel, which mind you I filled up at the gas station which THE EMPLOYEE told me to fill up at, so another 28 GBP was charged on top of the 19% fee and 20% tax. I've tried to talk with expedia and europcar to get this settled but I've basically been told to kick sand and I wont be getting a dime back. So in total, my original $191.07 CDN i paid, ended up costing me an ADDITIONAL $1,261.07 Canadian plus another 85.46 GBP for the deposit, lets just call it $1,400 to be safe. So thank you Europcar, and Simon, thank you for not explaining anything clearly and I hope whatever commission you made off 'upgrading' me was worth it to you.
