If you took the subway, it would take 1 hour, but it is cheaper. The train runs every 15 mins, 7 days a week. I've taken this train for many years. The trains are on time, clean, air conditioned, comfortable seats, electrical outlets at each pair of seats, luggage racks, and free WiFi. Since the pandemic,  there are plexiglass barriers between each pair of seats. You have to tap on and tap off so it can calculate the distance.  There are 2 intermediate stops. Well, I say newly renovated, but it's probably been several years. The old lounge was on the same level as the gate entrances (down the ramp). Union station and the VIA Train station are still undergoing renovations at the time of the writing of this review, so it's a bit if a mess there (not to mention all the previous dining options around there are all gone due to the renovations. I hope they return). However, once you step into the Panorama Lounge you no longer see all the construction chaos. The lounge is fairly large and has a train station lounge feel to it, lol. There are staff at the entrance who check your tickets (you need to be traveling VIA 1 - aka Business Class for entrance). There are free newspapers and magazines, non-alcoholic drinks and apples. No cookies like they have at the lounge in Montreal though :( They have cool magazines like The Walrus and Dine Magazine. For some reason all the English fashion magazines like Elle and Chatelaine are rarely there but their French counterparts are abundant. Actually, I think I know why: because they are probably mandated to carry equal numbers of English and French copies and let's face it, in Toronto, most people would be taking the English copy. This may be why I can always find the English versions in the Montreal lounge because most people there are taking the French copy. Anyway, I guess it's good to be bilingual, but I still prefer reading in English, less brain power expenditure on my part, haha. For drinks, they have orange juice, apple juice and tomato cocktail. They have soft drinks (cans) too, as well as coffee, tea and hot chocolate. The only food they have is apples. I love the lounge because it's less crowded than the main waiting areas, the washrooms are really clean, the chairs are comfortable and it's relatively quiet in there. One of the perks of travelling VIA 1 :)

For Business Class prices, VIA should be offering clean bathrooms and chairs made in this century at the very least. The decor is very early-90s and lacks much warmth or comfort. The VIA 1 service aboard the train is much better than the lounge area offers; if you buy your ticket in advance you can usually get a good discount too.

Downsview Park Station is one of the newest stations along Line 1 on the TTC. The name is confusing…read morebecause the previous Downsview Station was renamed Sheppard West. One of the unique features about this station is that it's connected to GO Transit, which is faster and more convenient. In some instances, it can be cheaper as well. For instance, to get from Downsview Park GO to Rutherford GO, it costs $0.27 and takes less than 10 minutes. A comparable trip on the TTC (to Vaughan Metropolitan Centre) would cost $3.00 and takes about 15 minutes. I find myself here frequently because it's walking distance to Scotiabank Pond and the sports facilities in that area. It makes for a convenient detour along my daily commute. The station is very clean and bright. However, because it's a bit out of the way, there's usually no one else here. One of the downsides to taking the GO train is that there are very few seats for anyone waiting for the train. Wifi is free.

It was confusing getting picked up since I exited the station at one end while my ride was waiting at the other. I had to go down the stairs, across the station and up the stairs on the other side. The second time I was at this station was because there was an incident on the Barrie line of the GO and everyone on the morning train was required to disembark and take the subway the rest of the way. Even though there was a great deal of people all getting off the train and going into the station at the same time there weren't any issues since the station is so huge and able to accommodate all the passengers.

Check In: Booked the tickets in advance, they do sell out quickly. On arrival, they had employees all around to ensure traffic is controlled (keeping in mind, this is located in the middle of a residential area). It was busy on a late Sunday afternoon, so we had to park a little further. Upon arrival to the gate, they checked our vaccine proof and we quickly made out way through the tent to board. The tent is equipped with areas for a fall photo op, local vendors have also set up shops. There are outdoor washrooms stalls outside and on board. They also have a food truck/booth as well. Train: With minutes to board, we quickly rushed and were greeted by the sweetest elderly conductor. We made our way to our seats. The isle were lit up with lights and fall colors to add to the experience. It is an older train, you can smell the staleness in the air but adjust fairly quickly. Once the train started moving, it was at a steady pace. Now had the trees changed colors, this would be a breathtaking experience. During the ride, they definitely keep it entertaining for children. Winnie the poo characters, the conductors & a balloon experts all make their way through the train to ensure children are entertained. Overall, it was a calming experience depending on the experience you are looking for.

So when my…read moreelderly father was coming to Toronto to visit for the holidays, I thought this would be the perfect gift for him. He loves old trains and murder mysteries, and I knew he'd enjoy the experience. Unfortunately we never got to have that experience. Days before we were set to go (December 14), I received an email advising that there were mechanical issues with the train and that all future services would be cancelled until further notice. I was a bit surprised because the murder mystery train was unlike the other events as it was non-moving. But I didn't know the particular issue, so I figured it was just an unfortunate situation. I don't take any stars off because of an unexpected event like this, however. The reason they get 1 star is due to the incredible poor and scam-like customer service I received after the fact. After receiving the email I wrote back and asked for a refund. I understood they had a no refunds policy if I cancelled, but this was not my doing. THEY cancelled on me. I paid over $300 for the tickets, and needed that money for my Christmas gift for my father. After a week I hadn't heard back. I figured if they had cancelled all the rides they would be busy, but I sent a follow up email after a week and asked for an update. I was simply told that because they are a small charity, they are UNABLE to give refunds and that all ticketholders would be contacted to rebook for later dates, such as their Easter train, and that any emails asking for refunds would be ignored. EXCUSE ME?! First of all, I understand you may be a small charity, but that does not mean you are legally UNABLE to give refunds. I am not asking for a DONATION to be returned, and I certainly wasn't being provided with a tax receipt. I paid for a service, and you cancelled that service. My money should be given back. I have never heard of a charity not giving money back for an event they sold tickets for and cancelled. In fact, I have purchased tickets for a charity event in the past that got cancelled due to Covid and tickets were refunded. So a blanket excuse that they're a small charity and CAN'T issue refunds is a scam. Second of all, this was a Christmas gift for an out of town guest. I do not want to rebook them for an event 4 months down the road when I don't even know if my dad will be able to come up to visit then. The fact that they bluntly stated that they won't answer any emails asking for refunds was shocking. Fortunately, I paid by credit card and was able to launch a dispute with them. It took a couple of months, but I got my money back. I never did get that email from them asking to rebook my tickets, but I suspect that could be because I got my credit card company involved. Needless to say I will NEVER be supporting this organization again, and will be spreading the word that others shouldn't either.

We rented a 2017 Honda Civic for a single day while visiting from Florida. Upon pickup, the vehicle's interior was in extremely poor condition, noticeably dirty and not properly maintained. Despite this, we proceeded with the rental due to time constraints, as we needed transportation to visit family outside the city. We returned the vehicle the same day in the exact condition it was received. In our review, we noted the cleanliness issues and also flagged that the windshield wipers were inadequate, which made highway driving unsafe in wet snow conditions. Shortly after, we were contacted and charged a $150 "smoking fee," allegedly for violating Turo's terms of service. An image of what appeared to be cigarette ash was submitted after the fact as "evidence." This claim is completely false. No one in our group smokes--nor would we ever smoke in a rental vehicle. There was no smoke odor at any point during or after our use. Importantly, Turo requires clear before-and-after documentation from renters. We did not submit any images showing cigarette ash because none existed. The allegation appears unfounded and, frankly, manufactured. After reviewing similar complaints from other customers, this does not seem to be an isolated incident. The pattern suggests questionable practices that unfairly target renters with illegitimate charges. This experience was extremely disappointing. I strongly advise others to exercise caution when dealing with this operation. We will also be filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau to ensure this matter is properly reviewed.
