I went cross country skiing for the first time, had a great experience…read more I spent 3 hours on the beginner level paths and stayed in the "classic tracks" ( 2 side by side grooves, in the snow for cross country skiing). It was a struggle at first, but got the hang of it. I work out and still managed to fall twice ( but I suppose if i was out of shape or did not exercise regularly, I would have fallen down 10 times). I only fell because I never took a ski lesson in my life and "learned by trial and error". There were a few other people out that day, but for the most part I was solo, felt like a peaceful hike in the woods, on skiis. Pros: 1. Affordable. $50 for a day pass and rental (ski, poles and boots). They offer season passes. 2. Friendly service and easy process. I had paid my fee and got on the snow within 10 minutes. 3. Plenty of parking ( which is free). 4. Paths have signs in the tree, you always know what path you are on and how to get back to the rental trailer / station. Cons 1. No Yeti.

I'm more of an amateur, but the trails here were a lot of fun. This area is run by a non-profit, Mt Shasta Nordic Organization, and the people working there are awesome. Most of our contact was with Ken, who is really cool. Really wonderful, nice people ski there. I highly recommend it. It's nice to have the rental of the ski's at the Nordic Center & very reasonable. It goes back to the non-profit that is up-keeping the area, so it makes you feel good. Best Wishes in keeping this area going! Trails and Views are amazing. Look forward to coming back again.
