My brothers and I are golf-nuts and try to play different courses every weekend. So we've been all over MA and NH playing any 18 hole courses we can find. I've played some really nice courses that are ruined by the Golf Pro's and rangers relentless nagging and staring. I hate when they just sit on a hill and watch. Its like you are on a clock and you better keep moving. Golfs hard enough without these cart-jockeys all over you. Atkinson CC in NH comes to mind, I'll write a review for that horror show later. Unicorn's only 9 holes, but its a fair test for amateur's and it's the perfect course to keep your game sharp during the week. Just don't show up expecting perfection. It's not that kind of course. The fairways can be wet and roped off and sometimes the greens are a little bumpy, but what am I?, A PGA tour pro? Not today anyway. So I don't need the fairways of Augusta or the greens of TPC Saw grass. My games a little rough around the edges and sometimes I hold some water weight. Who cares? All I know is that during the summer I can get up at 4:45am. Get to the course by 5:05am. Yes, I take light-speed showers, and after walking 9 holes. I'm at work by 7:03am. 3 minutes late, but I can usually sneak in unnoticed. I've never been the only one there either. There's usually a few groups of grumpy old men I have to navigate thru and by. So I guess its not a great place for beginners but if you are a serious golfer and you don't take yourself and your game too serious. This is a great place to practice, learn how bad you really are, and to hopefully get rid of a few of the more embarrassing shots you most often do in front of your big brother. Giving him a sick kind of happiness only older and younger brothers know. I know that on weekdays it's less than $20 without a cart. Trust me when I say that I HATE!! walking and avoid doing so at most any cost, but this course is pretty easy to get around on foot. They also have a nice practice green and chipping area which last week the Pro told me I could chip and putt all day long for free if I wanted. Maybe he saw my chipping and putting and thought I could use the practice. Which I definitely do, but definitely don't want to do. So I guess I'm saying its a great place for long-time weekend warriors/hackers/never see 80's golfers, to keep your rhythm and practice. I've played there more times than any other place during the last 5 years and I've never been disappointed with anything. So check it out, its really a good place. read more
