I wanted to send my Canadian bestie some get well soon flowers recently and Flowers Beautiful was highly rated and had a variety of arrangements available online for same day delivery. I opted for the bright little beauties because they looked so cheerful and were also super affordable. Once I placed my order online, someone called me from the shop to confirm my delivery and they were SO FRIENDLY. My friend got these flowers as a surprise on a day where she really needed it and Flowers Beautiful made the whole process super easy even from so far away. Would definitely visit in person if I lived closer, but good to know I can rely on them from over here on the east coast.

I specifically asked for balloons that indicated 'it's a boy'. All total, I paid $165 dollars for the pleasure that included $20 for the 3 balloons. Very disappointed. What arrived for the baby shower was not what I ordered. The balloons were completely ridiculous, perhaps appropriate for 5 year old girls birthday party, but not for a baby boy's baby shower. Will never ever order from this company again and will tell everyone not to order from this company. I've tried to copy a picture of this ridiculousness, but will not let me.

So I swore off SOF and went over to Thriftys. Now I'd always thought Thriftys was much more expensive, but it's really not that much depending what you buy. And the quality... well, there's no comparison. You do get what you pay for. This Thriftys has very friendly staff who all recognize me and always say hi. I buy a lot of fresh veg and bananas, and the produce is excellent albeit a little higher priced. But I'll pay a little more for consistency which saves me time going to another store. I've also always had very positive interaction asking if they have more/bigger in the back. Well stocked shelves, very clean store, lovely bakery, nice variety (especially considering it's a smaller store), nice atmosphere, and great floral department. Some good snack and lunch ideas in the deli department. The store may be small but they almost always have what I want and more. One stop shopping 99.9% of the time. Their customer service is excellent. I also want to mention one specific experience. I'm a local shop keep and my two door freezer went down one day. I went over to Thriftys and asked if there was any chance I might be able to store some inventory in their freezer for a day or two til mine got fixed. One of the owners said they didn't really have the space (like I said, it's small store), but then he looked at me and said, "You know what? We'll make the space for you." I was so grateful. Turns out I didn't need to take him up on it after all, but his willingness to help me out really carried a long way. Life long customer right here! Check em out!

Yes, they looked presentable enough on display, but I suspect that this business puts bids on batches of flowers that are on their last stems. It's then a simple matter of sorting through the piles of dross for something feasible enough to induce a punter to part with a few dollars. It took a number of trials to determine where the fault lay, and this business capitalizes on this instinct of deferring judgement until all the facts are finally established. By that time, your wallet will be as light as a feather, and your loved one will begin to question the soundness of your judgement...both for being duped, and for hauling home piles of flowers that should have just been taken down to the municipal tip.

They were not cheap and I talked to the shop and eventually the owner a few times. She wasn't really interested when I told her that no refund could be found and I just gave up. In this day and age, you have to be accountable and this store was anything but. I will never buy from the shop again nor will my husband. It's a shame as it's a lovely shop but the photos I have of the half dead roses remind me of why I need to steer clear.

During Covid times, the store is mostly blocked off except the front, which has plenty of plants, flowers, and little trinkets. Unsurprisingly, during Mother's Day weekend a majority of their flower options were already sold out, but luckily, I was able to find a beautiful peony and lily bouquet. The owner and her daughter were both working the shop when I came in and they were so helpful and efficient all while respecting social distancing. For a gorgeous flower arrangement and card, I was surprised with how affordable this purchase was. When I'm looking for flowers and plants in the future, I'll definitely be coming back here! When I got home I opened it and noticed a little of the pack was undone.... When I opened the pack, the third card in was bent. I called the store immediately and was told by Brandon, there was nothing he could do. He assured me this is normal for cards to be bent. In a sealed pack ? Not a chance. I said I'd come in to get my money back and he said as an employee, he couldn't do that and all he could do was let me speak to the manager, Jordan. This proved equally useless. The manager proceeded to tell me that its totally normal that cards are bent in the packs as the people packing them "back in the day" weren't that careful. I started to laugh and said "you actually think cards were individually packed by people ?" At this point he became very short with me and told me he'd talk to the owner and get back to me. This never happened. After a week of no one returning my call, I gave up. Later, I started to read reviews and noticed it's not the first time people have been ripped off, like this. Feel free to read their other complaints on Google Reviews or Yelp. They've moved location in this mall three times now and are always down sizing because people are simply not buying from them anymore. Ladner and Tsawwassen are small towns and people talk. I'll be taking this complaint further. To Brandon and Jordan, you guys need a serious attitude adjustment and a massive knowledge overhaul. To the owner Ken, if you received my complaint and chose not to call me back, your business practices are inept, dishonest and in need of a major change.
