So I swore off SOF and went over to Thriftys. Now I'd always thought Thriftys was much more expensive, but it's really not that much depending what you buy. And the quality... well, there's no comparison. You do get what you pay for. This Thriftys has very friendly staff who all recognize me and always say hi. I buy a lot of fresh veg and bananas, and the produce is excellent albeit a little higher priced. But I'll pay a little more for consistency which saves me time going to another store. I've also always had very positive interaction asking if they have more/bigger in the back. Well stocked shelves, very clean store, lovely bakery, nice variety (especially considering it's a smaller store), nice atmosphere, and great floral department. Some good snack and lunch ideas in the deli department. The store may be small but they almost always have what I want and more. One stop shopping 99.9% of the time. Their customer service is excellent. I also want to mention one specific experience. I'm a local shop keep and my two door freezer went down one day. I went over to Thriftys and asked if there was any chance I might be able to store some inventory in their freezer for a day or two til mine got fixed. One of the owners said they didn't really have the space (like I said, it's small store), but then he looked at me and said, "You know what? We'll make the space for you." I was so grateful. Turns out I didn't need to take him up on it after all, but his willingness to help me out really carried a long way. Life long customer right here! Check em out!

They were not cheap and I talked to the shop and eventually the owner a few times. I got a bunch of excuses why this may have happened, but gave up when she eventually told he she "thought she may have refunded my husbands visa" . She wasn't really interested when I told her that no refund could be found and I just gave up. In this day and age, you have to be accountable and this store was anything but. I will never buy from the shop again nor will my husband. It's a shame as it's a lovely shop but the photos I have of the half dead roses remind me of why I need to steer clear.

During Covid times, the store is mostly blocked off except the front, which has plenty of plants, flowers, and little trinkets. Unsurprisingly, during Mother's Day weekend a majority of their flower options were already sold out, but luckily, I was able to find a beautiful peony and lily bouquet. The owner and her daughter were both working the shop when I came in and they were so helpful and efficient all while respecting social distancing. For a gorgeous flower arrangement and card, I was surprised with how affordable this purchase was. When I'm looking for flowers and plants in the future, I'll definitely be coming back here! I stood there and watched 4 staff behind the counter and 2 in front just continue working at whatever while ignoring the gentleman in front of me and myself. 5 minutes later, they helped him and as he was a fair bit older he understandably took longer to assist. And yet all these employees are still just standing there. At the 10 minute mark I just left. There were three people behind me when I did. I'm sure SaveOn is more than aware that a normal household will be spending $10k per year at the store. NOT EVER AGAIN. I will shop solely at Walmart.

Just like that, brusque, no warmth. No acknowledgement that they skipped a whole work day, and again nothing welcoming. Completely understand that businesses get busy, kudos!, but if you're trying to welcome new business or strengthen a reputation as a caring business - this is hardly the way to do it. Called back just to let somebody know what happened - since I have no idea if this was the owner who called back that brusquely or an employee - and again no apology just "sometimes we just get busy" ... and did I still need flowers...? Ummmm - yes: 2 days ago. We are all very busy (especially these days) - including new customers reaching out for your business. Since this business seems unaware: if a person calls around saying they're from out of state looking for a florist for a friend who is suffering (I left a clear voicemail -because it WAS important and timely) and you wait 2 days, they likely have moved on to businesses who welcome their call and seem welcoming.
