When it was at risk of closing in 2013, I helped with the community-build of the new park and it was an amazing experience. i love how the new design retains many of the old elements, while also being higher so that adults can fit on the structure (the roofs on the old structure were too short for adults to accompany kids). Also in this new design they used the plastic-like wood for decking and pressure treated wood so it will last much longer than the old design.

Upper (baseball and football) field was set in synthetic turf in 2011 - which solved age old wetness problem by allowing water run-off from two adjoining hills to sink below new field base (an ancient brook is culverted under both fields) - and large lights installed which are left on to 10:15 P.M. most of the year.

Probably one of my favorite playgrounds I've encountered in Boston…read more Here's why: -fenced in, with only one exit - great for thwarting runners -water play area, including one feature that looks kind of like showers, which is very handy in dealing with the fall out from the... -extensive sand area, including with various simple machines (levers, pulleys) and some basic toys (shovels, buckets -- although I'd bring your own) -significant wheelchair-accessible areas, including swing and turn-table thingie -good amount of parent seating -fun playscape structures that are designed to look more natural (e.g., thing to climb on that looks like logs) Very good for young kids -- our 7-month old could enjoy the water and the swings (and the sand, although he needed supervision to keep from eating it). Our almost 3-yo could do most things, but I think even a kid in the low-elementary grades would have a good amount of fun here. We found 2-hour parking along the side of the Cambridge Common; most of the rest was resident only. When we visited in the summer, there was a porta-pottie nearby.

If you drive past it to get to the end point on Google maps, then you are too far and will be at the exit point of the parking lot. I don't understand why playgrounds don't have trees or shades? Why? The Spray Deck is open from 8 AM to 8 PM daily. Wading Pool is open 6/15/2024 - 9/2/2024 10:15am - 5:45pm. Parking is maximum 4 hours, regardless of weekday/weekend/holiday. There is an ice cream truck there sometimes. $5 or $6 for a sugary treat. (It's almost just sugar water, no ice cream content.) No hand sanitizers outside of the porta potty, so bring your own. Plenty of free parking.

Found this & through it in the Bookmarks, was out yesterday & it was Hot so we decided to take a look... Pulled up right in front of the gate & parked which was great... Was instantly pleased just from looking from the street... Love that the whole park is gated and all the parents there used them every time they went in & out... (I have a 2 YO that loves to run away) There are TONS of tables (some in shade) there are 2 huge playhouse thingys, one is for smaller kids & my son LOVED IT. We walked over to try out the water sprinkler (which is hand activated) but he doesnt love water soo much... There is a cool see saw but he had no desire to try it out, so back to the slide we went... Hate that this park is soo out of the way from home, but if we are ever in the area guarantee we are stopping in.
