I felt very uncomfortable walking into a men's underwear specialty store but it was a necessity. I was working on a japanese back tattoo and had go to the stage where I needed more exposure on the rear (if you catch my drift.) I went into underU right when they opened and the staff member was very helpful and directed me to the jock strap area. He also helped to advise on approximate sizing--I really had no idea if I should go off my standard size underwear. All in all, I was out in 15 min max and the jock strap worked perfectly for the tattoo sessions. Victoria's Secret look out! I had no idea that someone was genius enough to create an undergarment store exclusively for men. All different types of undergarments... Some naughty, some nice, some made out of amazing material, and what a fun place to shop if you're looking to buy something for that special man in your life, or if he wants to shop on his own. This is a great underwear shop- but really it's so much more! Great loungewear, undershirts, boxer briefs- or for some of the more kinky stuff, head upstairs- jock straps galore! On my visit I purchased Squatch soaps - 3 for the price of 2- and also got some new Marvis toothpaste. Also check out their website- they've got LoTS of stuff on there if you're bored on a cold fall evening and want to spice things up by shopping online. Great underwear store for men! I've been to the underU4men at their Seattle location but the flagship store here in Portland is much larger and there is more variety of inventory here. There is also a barber upstairs where you can get your hair did. There all kinds of great under wear brands that I love and a few brands that were new discoveries for me. There is also a selection of shirts that I liked. I got a pleasant blast from the past coming across some resort style shirts from Diesel. There are lots of clearance sales going on here too so you can get some good deals there as well. Another nice bonus is that if you check in on your Yelp you can get a $10 off coupon for purchases $ 75 or more which is a very pleasant surprise! With the Internet boom, it seems like the number of brands, types and styles of men's underwear has exploded. It is kind of like television. What once was an industry in which had just had three options (ABC-CBS-NBC) has changed into one in which you can get access to a ridiculous amount of channels. So no longer is it a Hanes-Fruit of the Loom-BVD underwear world, the options are just as endless. While the Internet has allowed for greater access to selection, the concern with ordering underwear online is with size which does matter. If you have never worn a specific brand, you might be displeased when the product you received crumples up your junk since it is too small. I came across UnderU4Men while roaming downtown Portland. They do have a store in Seattle on Capitol Hill, but this location is significantly larger and there is the no sales tax thing to consider. It is a 5,000 square feet space full of men's underwear, socks, swimwear and fragrance. The brands they offer here are familiar brands you would find at Macy's and Nordstrom, but they also carry lesser known niche brands that you likely would not find elsewhere in Portland and could only find online otherwise. They also have sales here so the pricing is competitive to those two department stores and online retailers as well. I do also like that they carry offerings that are more functional. For instance, they carry compression/slimming brand Spanx. As well as underwear that accentuates (or not) your (ahem) package depending on its specific function. In addition to their offerings, I appreciate that they have knowledgeable sale staff here that know the product. Particularly about the size issue. I was talked out of getting a piece just before I had purchased it as one of the staff members informed me to get one size up as the brand runs small. My hubby has started growing a beard, so we stopped in to get some maintenance supplies. Mind you, I'm really just reviewing as a witness, considering this isn't my beard. Anyhoo, one of the employees, after kindly asking for permission, touched my hubby's face to get an idea of what he might need. He then walked us through all of the products to choose from and made some great recommendations. We walked out with some beard balm that smells and feels great. It's hard to even know where to start.... Walking in yeah its all underwear... then as you get in farther there is other carefully chosen stuff. You can defiantly get cheaper underwear else where but if you do get it here it will be top quality and last along time. I got some sleep pants here (on sale) which I love. They are comfortable and warm... In back but by the windows they have lotions and shave stuff, and back to the left (from the front) they have swimwear with a sale rack behind it (good deals here.) I recently ventured up stairs for the first time, there they have um less main stream stuff and what I came for. The barber shop. It is nice, clean, and masculine. They offered me a drink while I waited, I had a water, but they had beer also. Alex did a great job I would recommend him highly. I wanted a bit different look and was very happy with the results. The prices seem fair to, especially as happy as I am with the results. My guy deserves the very best and a present for no particular reason seemed fitting, like a nice pair of briefs. I noticed that the underwear are very flattering for the male figure. I purchased a couple pairs made of bamboo fabric, super stretchy and soft. I also threw in a super soft cotton t-shirt. I like natural fabric that is soft. This store is like a smaller version of Victoria's secret for Men. Colors, shapes, material and support (I didn't know men needs support too!)...choices of underwear design and sizes were just impressive. With the help from very friendly sales guys, we ended up with a sporty looking, soft and functional but "sexier-than-whitey-tighty" underwear which was made from bamboo. This is a great store. They have a huge selection of everything you could possibly imagine. In a world where women get all the selection and men are relegated to a single corner of most stores, it's nice to find one that is completely dedicated to men. I never actually went to their old locations, but from what I understand, they consolidated into one central location downtown, and I for one am glad for it. It's great going through and seeing all the different kinds of fashion for men's undergarments. I was just in there yesterday and found a great new swimsuit for the spring/summer. It cost about $60 (which is more than I've ever paid for a swimsuit before), but it was totally worth the cost. It looks stellar! The huge downside to this place is the fact that everything is so dang expensive. You can go to the designers' webpages and find everything for much cheaper. But if it's the experience you're looking for, this is the place to go. On the weekends, they actually have live models. I found it to be kind of weird, but hey, if it's your thing--you do you, friends. I am absolutely in love with their bags. I've wanted one of their PanAm bags for practically ever, and when I was there yesterday, they have a new selection of brown and black satchels. Obviously, I'll be going there to lust after them for a while until I actually decide to throw down the cash and buy one. In the meantime, if you're hesitant to buy your designer underwear online, but don't want to fork out the cash, you can always go through their extensive clearance section. But be warned: some things go on clearance for a reason. Yikes! Overall, I always have a fun time there, and the staff is incredibly helpful and fun to talk with. Great Barber What a great idea to combine a men's boutique underwear store with a top notch barbershop. I followed Paymon here from his previous barbershop and absolutely love the new place. Paymon is a perfectionist, when it comes to crafting the perfect haircut to fit his clients. He takes his time to ensure that literally every hair is in place. That's a hell of a lot of underpants! I've walked past this place a dozen or so times, but seeing as it was always after stuffing my gullet at the food carts across the way, I was never quite in the mood to go look at skimpy underwear. Today I finally threw caution to the wind, and ended up having a much better experience than I had expected! This is a great store that really services a much wider customer base than I had expected. TMI Time: I'm a boxer briefs guy, and am partial to materials geared towards performance. My favorite pairs are generally from Adidas, UnderArmour and the like. I was pleasantly surprised that underU4men carried plenty of products in this vein, in addition to the more expected fashion brands like Papi or Aussiebum. They had a couple of local brands, which was great to see. The range of products went from "questionable stripper" to "weekend warrior" with plenty in between. Beyond the undies, this place has a great selection of socks (at a very reasonable price) and tank tops. For swimwear, it definitely leaned towards the revealing. I typically for a 5"-7" inseam, and while that was definitely present (plus longer), the bulk were trunks I just wouldn't feel comfortable wearing anywhere outside of a really gay pool party. I don't get invited to many of those anyhow, so those trunks are not for me. What surprised me most was the selection of grooming products. They had a few really nice beard oils, and I walked out with a basic tube of mustache wax. Loads of brand and fragrance options. I spent a lot of time browsing the entire store, but this is where I looked around most seriously. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the different products and just flattering enough to make me want to buy something (did you REALLY like my shirt, mr sales clerk?), so they are definitely hiring right. OK, so I'll admit that I haven't been underwear shopping in years and most of my current stock has fallen into various states of disrepair. A re-up was desperately in order. Lo and behold, I stumbled upon this place in the middle of downtown PDX. What a find-- we don't even have any stores like this in San Francisco, where you'd expect there would be heaps of them to serve all the boys in the Castro. Jeremy was a real pro, even though he told me the Diesels I currently wear were the preferred underwear of twinks-- yikes! He directed me to some Andrew Christians that looked way twinkier than any Diesels. But oh, the comfort! And the anatomically-correct front pouches sealed the deal. Alas, I got them home and put on a runway show for my girl. That's when I learned that I've either gained too much weight or that Andrew Christian underwear run waaaay small. Unfortunately, I already tore the tag off of the tightest pair. Guess I'll keep them as motivation to lose 10 or 15 pounds. They'll look smashing then. Couldn't believe that Portland has a men's underwear store full of the most flamboyant drawers this side of Italy. Like I said, I live in the gayest city on earth and we've got nothing like this. They've also got some more subdued styles, including Puma and New Balance boxer briefs. But my girl wouldn't let me buy those. read more

I had passed this shop & always thought it looked alluring. The Husband LOVES nice underwear ( he is in his 50s, is 5'11'', weighs 150 # & has a 30'' waist... sometimes I hate him). He prefers little tiny jock like undies. This place was so much fun. All kinds of underwear in all price ranges, from all over the globe. I bought Andrew Christian (in bamboo fabric!) & Aussie Bum along with some others. The staff was very helpful & very attractive. I was given lots of attention & great advice & my sales person (very cute, but adultery seemed so wrong on Valentine's Day) was so nice, flirty & he threw in samples samples of a local skin line. This is the place to go if you need to find a gift for the special man in your life, or if you are a man with refined taste. My husband has been very vocal about his dislike of synthetic fibers in his clothing for quite some time now, and has been seeking out natural fibers in everything he buys for himself. UnderU4men has an impressive selection of underwear for male-bodied humans, and the lovely salesperson kindly showed me all of the different options for natural fibers. I even learned about other natural fibers that I'd never heard of before--modal and viscose, made from beech trees and bamboo, respectively. This store also has so much more than underwear, there's loungewear, robes, pajamas, swimwear, skincare and beardcare and probably more than that, but I was just focused on finding underwear. My husband was so happy opening his birthday presents, I did a good job showing him that he is loved and appreciated. So glad that this store exists! read more

Under U4 Men is a really unique men's boutique. Their primary product is designer men's underwear, however they also have a men's salon upstairs, a shave bar, soap bar, swimwear and a bunch of novelty products. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable. Seriously, who knew there was so much know about underwear and shave cream? But honestly, I really appreciate all the info the staff gives you about the products. It's that personal touch you expect from a boutique shop. The guy I always talk to has been working there for 3 years and really knows his stuff. Even though it is about 2-hours away, it is also the only place i will buy soap now. They have a huge selection of soaps, but one of the brands uses beer fragrances that are killer. My wife loves the way I smell when I get out of the shower which is reason enough to make the drive to Portland for me. I haven't had a need yet, but if you are looking for some unique underwear for a special occasion, honeymoon, whatever, they have a section dedicated to what they call "situational wear". This is absolutely the best place I've found to buy men's underwear. I walked by this store numerous times with my partner and often looked through the windows saying something like, "I'll have to go in there sometime." One day she went and bought me a gift certificate so that we could go shopping there. The first time we went in we were blown away by their array of underwear, grooming products, and swimsuits. The staff are very friendly and always willing to offer advice. While you can't try on underwear due to Oregon Health Code, they have always been able to properly fit me to the correct size. They carry premium underwear that can cost you upwards of $35 a pair, but it is entirely worth it as many of their brands are made out of bamboo, organic cotton, or other specialty material. I highly recommend that folks go in and give them a try at least once. My three favorite brands: Andrew Christian, Aussiebum, and Bluebuck. Additionally, they have an excellent barbershop that is only getting better. One of their barbers, Girts, is far and away the best barber I've ever had in my life--he actually knows how to use scissors! There isn't much that's better than a trip to underU4men for a nice haircut and a new pair of underwear. read more
