Reopening in 2019 after a two-year, $5 million reconstruction that was designed in partnership with the Prospect Park Alliance[2], this playground has something for children of all ages: swings, two playground areas catering to little kids and older ones, two sets of sprinklers, four basketball courts, a fenced handball court, a small gym area, an open play area with synthetic turf, and a walking/running track. I like how this playground appeals to very different people: families with young children, kids playing basketball, skaters, fitness and training classes in the open play area[3], kids from local daycare centers, people working out, birthday and block parties, etc.. This playground is generally clean; perhaps cleaner than most playgrounds in Brooklyn I know. Did not expect these nice bathrooms to get dirty like that! There were more bathrooms downstairs besides the ones on the first floor. The door to the bathrooms was very nice too! What a great job they did to this park. I cannot believe the Domino sugar factory still exists or is standing because I used to take the train and they be doing construction for many years for I don't know what reason. Looked like they turn downstairs into this nice modern park. So I went to the park to go to a Target pop up and got some nice freebies. There was enough space for pop ups and large crowds. It fact, "It was used by the Continental Army in 1776 as a lookout point, which at that time offered strategic views of Manhattan, Brooklyn, New York harbor, a portion of New Jersey, Staten Island, and Long Island"[1]. Mount Prospect Park has something to offer for everyone: - If you have a dog, this is a dog-friendly park, with many dogs enjoying the large grassy area at the center. Keep in mind that the area is completely open. There are specific off-leash hours, and I found all dog owners who come to the park to be friendly and respectful. - If you like to run, there is a running route that goes all around the park, mainly shaded by wonderful tree, that covers 0.22 miles/0.36 km[2]. There are also some stairs that lead to the highest point in the park, that are also good for exercising. Another set of (steeper) stairs is near the second access point near the Brooklyn Public Library. - If you have young kids, there is a playground with two jungle gyms separated by a sprinklers area, plus an enclosed area with swings, and six concrete small tables with benches. There are a lot of mosquitoes, particularly tiger mosquitoes i.e. the ones that are active during the day, in the area near the benches around the fence. The main entrance by the Brooklyn Botanic Garden has no stairs, and its gentle incline is perfect if you have a stroller or bike. - If you have older kids, I have seen soccer games and other team sports (baseball, freesbee, etc...) or training sessions take place in the lawn at the center of the park. Keep in mind that the area is not completely covered in grass, and it can get dusty. The park seems to be generally understaffed (hence 4 stars instead of 5). The trash cans are not emptied daily, and the hours at which sprinklers are on during the summer, or when restrooms are open, seem to be totally random. While I find the dog owners and runners very respectful, some of the people who have birthday parties or other celebrations here tend to leave a lot of trash behind. Central Park may be in a more convenient location for tourists, but Prospect Park is a divine place to explore, with plenty of twists and turns, and what the heck is that? Lots to look at! The other thing I liked was that we found free on-street parking right across the street on Ocean Avenue. Amazingly we also found parking right by Central Park as well. (This trip was a superb driving one) Even hanging out in the van, having a cold one at the parking spot was a fun experience. There's even a cafe in the middle of the park that is super nice! Worth seeking out when visiting Brooklyn.

It was a rainy day, which probably kept the crowds away. Honestly? No complaints, we didn't have to wait more than a few minutes for our food, and the tables with umbrellas made it easy to stay cozy. After fueling up, we took a scenic half-mile stroll to the Boathouse. It's stunnin charming, rustic architecture surrounded by lush greenery. We sat for a while, soaking up the calm before crossing the street to explore the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. Overall: 4-5 stars. Super chill, and a perfect mini-adventure outside Manhattan. After i finished eating, a family of people came by to do a BBQ graduation party there. 20 people can sit comfortably there. All you see is mostly families. People walking theie dogs, riding the bikes. There were kids on mini scooter. It has been tough during this pandemic of 2020. There was a little girl, she must have been about 6 years old, on her scooter saaying to her friend. "This is the best day ever". This should remind us how important these parks are to the inner city. There plenty of benches and almost all of them had someone sitting, reading or dozing off. The path which encircles the park on the inside has plenty of room for soneone to ride their bike while walking with 2 or 3 other people next to them. A few people had their Bluetooth speakers playing music. They were not playing too loud. The day was peaceful and tranquil. Another group of people came towards the North entrance and started another BBQ. The North entrance also faces the Saratoga Village NYC housing. The ark is not perfectly designed, it does need updating. Grass seeds need to be planted in many areas. However it was a nice place to be for a change. It was truly a nice day in the park.

Be cautious sometimes people let their dogs off their leash to run in the field... Some dogs are cool, but some owners can be irresponsible / too trusting. Cars can go very fast on the surrounding streets, so keep your kids and pups safe!!! PSA: PLEASE clean up after yourself and your pooch! Let's be neighborly and respectful especially with so many children in the park daily, and keep this park CLEAN... Nobody wants to step in doodoo THANKS.
