Do not come here They have no control of who has your card. I couldn't check out because the "bartender" went next door. This is insane that I'm trapped here.

I went here for one of their concert nights and had an amazing time! I was unable to try the food but I did get some drinks. They were a bit pricey but made well. I would definitely recommend coming here! If you look on their Instagram page, you'll be able to see all the upcoming events!

It's rare that I can't find some positive in BBQ, but this lunchtime meal was nothing to write home about. I ordered 1/2 chicken with garlic toast and side salad. The chicken was smoked and the skin was charred beyond flavor. The side salad was just iceberg lettuce with chunks of tomato too large to fit in my mouth. The garlic toast was thick white bread with no taste, although it was toasted properly. Could be a fun venue at night with live music but nothing really separated this from any other place.

Im a huge fan of underbelly because of the music component but because of the amazing BBQ. My office had a buffet lunch here and I lost my mind. They have a good whiskey selection as well as beers on tap. I recommend the pulled pork sandwich with the pickles and slaw or the Chicago hot dog with mac and cheese. They also have offer a great weekday happy hour.

This place has a fun vibe. There is an area to get food at the bar and then some tables that are by a stage for live music. We came for music and there were multiple bands over the course of the night. We got food beforehand. It was good, but they were out of a couple options we were interested in eating.

What a great venue for a concert! Things to note though if you're over 40...standing room only! If things start to hurt after standing a while, you may want to reconsider standing at the front near the stage and maybe hang out closer to the bar where you can try to snag a stool. Lol unfortunately we didn't get to try the food but the drinks were good and were priced as expected for an event like a concert. We had a great time and look forward to coming back to try the food also. Julia Cole and Alexandra Kay were amazing!

Underbelly is the spot! After a pretty terrible experience at another small local venue, I was so impressed with Underbelly. I moved here from Pittsburgh, where i went to shows weekly. Jax doesn't get as many rock bands, but I was excited to see Death from Above 1979 was coming to Underbelly. Tickets were $35. First impression was that they didn't check my bag at all which made me a little concerned. Good to know I don't need to bring a clear purse or worry about purse restrictions here in the future though. The venue was clean and you can see the stage from anywhere. The sound was good too. We got two cocktails that were only $9 each! They also have a full bar and full food menu which is surprising to see at this type of venue. The biggest thing was the fact that the bathrooms were clean. I am always scared to use a bathroom at small venues and this one was literally so clean and had multiple stalls. The best part of all was the blasting air conditioning. I can't believe I was actually cold at a rock show. Usually everyone is soaked in sweat. This was such a great experience and I can't wait to go back.

I was very curious about Underbelly after learning about it being a bbq place with a great bourbon selection and night time entertainment. So I stopped by for a late lunch. It a cool old building in downtown Jacksonville with a huge bar. It's very open with a long bar with a massive selection of spirits. The bartender was friendly and quick to please. I had the pulled chicken nachos. They were excellent. I've placed the description in a pic. Very tasty and a large portion. Had a great draft from Lemonstreet Brewery. It appears they offer four local drafts each day. Looks like it could be a great spot for entertainment at night. It's on a corner with plenty of Plato hop on a night out. I highly recommend it as a great lunch spot if you want great food on an old world environment.

A great place food is great too this is half wrap and half Mac and cheese only because I ate half first

Rudest bartender I've ever encountered.

The bartender was very unprofessional and rude. The sound guy was terrible. They have a very expensive sound system, but the sound guy has zero idea what he's doing. It was ridiculously loud - and I generally like loud music. The bartender was the absolute worst though. There were maybe 5 people at the bar at any given time, and she literally acted like she hated you when she got around to serving you. Supposedly, she was the "bar manager", but she behaved like a petulant child.

Whole, delicious wings for the win! Smokey and succulent with a spicy bourbon barbecue sauce.

Trash!

I've never been anywhere in downtown Jacksonville with a better vibe as far as my tastes are concerned; a very chill place.

We've been there when it was just us, we've been there when it was a raging DJ party and we've been there when a Jags game is on. For me, every experience is based on setting your expectations. I'm an old man now and I've been in all of this situations one million times previously. So I don't go into a raging DJ situation ready to get my phone out and start writing a review to state "the music was just too darn loud!". I also don't go there during a Jags game just to write a review that says "I had to wait a long time for a drink....can you even believe it??". Was the music loud? Yep. Was the wait really long during the Jags game? You better believe it. We went in expecting those things though because that's how the real world works. The drinks are great. The bar is nice, the staff is cool and you can't beat the views. Sounds like a good deal to me.

The atmosphere was chill with no music, or at least I don't recall. We found a spot without shade to sit, which was sunny until the sun went behind the Hyatt. More shade would have been nice, but they had a decent beer selection. It's not as spacious as the rooftop at Hoptinger in 5 Points, and they don't offer any games. Just thought I'd mention that.

I moved to Jacksonville recently from California and I am always on the lookout for new places to…read morecheck out. There is a building I pass every day near my home which caught my eye right away. Its stone façade and bright yellow sign flanked by two Medieval Knights, with the words "The Arena" across it in large block lettering stood out in comparison to its neighbors, a church and a discount furniture store. I quickly put on my detective cap and began scouring the internet for any explanation or reviews but information was sparse. I eventually found the website... The Arena | Jacksonville's Premiere Concert Venue... "The Arena is definitely one of Jacksonville's premiere and edgiest night scenes. With four stages, and full audio-surround sound, you will be blown away..." I ear marked it as a place to check out in the future. As Halloween grew closer The Arena began to look more and more like an off-beat community haunted attraction. A giant, ominous, clown face appeared over the door along with some additional lights and carnival décor. A new sign was added, "Carnevil". Of course I got back on the internet and found, "Welcome to Carnevil! The darkest and final act of the circus empire..." From the description it sounded pretty scary, I don't really do scary, but it was Halloween and we had no other plans and it was FREE. Now let me tell you, the free thing immediately set off some red flags, nothing is free but curiosity got the best of us. We invited some friends, put on our costumes and headed to the Arena but it was completely full and they sent us away with priority tickets for the next showing. Sunday night just my fiancé and I went back. Like I said, I don't really do scary well and as I stood in line my heart was racing. They announce that we are about to go in and once we are inside we will not be allowed to leave until the end. Honestly, we were half convinced that this place lures unsuspecting people in and keeps them forever... how else does a "Premiere Concert Venue" have almost no internet presence and NO reviews? The whole experience started off great. Creepy ghosts shambled through the lines, small groups were let into the theatre at a time, entering through a miniature haunted maze with all the scares and screams as a professional haunted house. There were plenty of scares for the audience while we waited for the show to start. The play had a great campy/spooky community theatre feel complete with frightening clowns, quality makeup, sound and lighting effects. Over and over I kept thinking, "How is this free?" and then it started... "drugs", "sex", "rebelling against authority"... "sin". Suddenly I realized I was at church. A preacher dressed as a cop stood center stage asking the audience to raise their hands, come up and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior to avoid a hell worse than the clown camp we just witnessed. I want to be clear... I do not have a problem with this being a church function; I appreciate the local church for pulling together a great community event... I do have a problem with being completely ambushed. Nowhere on TheArenaJax.com does it mention its affiliation with Victory Church. To solicit itself as one of the country's premier, edgy music venue, "showcasing a spectrum of internationally renowned artists" is more than slightly misleading. I have to say, I felt a bit violated to be lured into what appeared to be a fun community theatre, told I could not leave until it was over and then force fed a religious message while adults in scary masks and makeup stood blocking the exit. Here is the TL;DR: The production quality is great for a free event. I really enjoyed the first hour and a half of my experience. I would even encourage people to check out one of their events but be advised... this is a religious venue affiliated with its neighboring church. You will be held inside the building and asked to approach the stage to accept their message.

I am not one to like scary things but after seeing the show I had to see it again. The storyline and characters are well-made and very nice people. They put all they had into making this show work and after the show you get to meet them and get to know them personally. The theatrics of it were stunning and very luring and the sound effects blew me away. I loved how well the actors dressed up and scared people. They'd pop out of the dark, they sang along to hit songs from Slipknot and they made it a very good memorable experience. Along with the thrills they made some funny remarks during the show which made it more enjoyable and fun. If they were able to keep the show going on for more days I would go to all of them. For free it was worth it- if I had to pay, it would've been totally worth it. At the end of the show there was a part where a character made a statement about being "lost" and how he was able to come to terms with himself. Yes, they help people to believe but even if you aren't into Christianity or religion at all it didn't matter. They wanted people to remember the show and to tell everyone else back home about it. They wanted to inspire people to not be afraid and to become more than what people think of you. They don't force any part of religion on anyone and they don't force people into a prayer at all. They merely want to help people and for the people who were just there for the show, they got to see how much hard work and dedication the actors put into this to make it fun and memorable and thrilling. I absolutely loved it and would go to many more shows for the rest of my life for the experience. Amazing job well done.

My husband and I have been here twice now first for Ali Siddiq and most recently for Moulin Rouge! Both experiences were nothing short of amazing. The vibe? Immaculate. It truly feels like a slice of Broadway right here in Jacksonville. From the moment you walk in, the staff sets the tone. Very welcoming, organized, and genuinely friendly. The drink and snack options are solid (because let's be real, theater snacks are part of the experience), and can we take a moment to appreciate clean restrooms at a packed venue? A win is a win. I've been wanting to see Moulin Rouge! for the longest time, and finally experiencing it here made it even more special. The energy, the production, the atmosphere, it all came together perfectly. Safe to say, I'm officially hooked and already looking forward to what they bring next season. If you're on the fence, go. Your future theater-loving self will thank you.

We bought the Broadway series, which is typically 5 to 6 plays per year and if you renew your seats every year you get the same seats. You have the option to change your seats the following year if you're not happy with the seats that you have. Believe it or not we've been a VIP don't remember for two years and we've never went to the VIP lounge because we weren't even aware of it. So I can't speak about the food in there and we've never had any food outside of coffee and once we got Cookies and they were both very good. The service and staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It's a very nice small venue so pretty much most of the seats are a good view. The only thing went crazy about is their location for the parking that's included when you buy your tickets as part of the package. I wish they had a valet option or something right across the street available included in the Broadway series package. Of course you can always just pay for your own seats and not get the seating but we like to know we're guaranteed a parking spot because it's about a 45 minute drive from our house. This will be the third year in a row for us here and we really like it
