Here's a well-kept secret: your favorite Yelper/visual artist/spiritual bon vivant (that's me in…read morecase you were wondering) fancies himself a bit of an antiquary. Many of my favorite antiques have come from this charming little place in Helotes. Whenever I stop by B Daddy's BBQ next door, I walk over to Old Town Depot Antiques to see what's new. The selection is vast and includes everything from Victorian-era posh to 1950s small-town Americana. As a spiritualist, I'm particularly drawn to the variety of crystals and tarot card decks. As a WWII enthusiast, I am impressed by the variety of American and German guns, knives, and military paraphernalia. The prices are reasonable, and I've found many bargains, including a set of antique doorstops that...well...I really shouldn't talk about here. I know that last sentence sounds mysterious (because it is), but feel free to contact me If you're curious. I assure you it's an interesting story with an accompanying video. The woman who operates the store is friendly and quick to offer suggestions. Unlike many antique store owners (those presumably mindful of potential shoplifters), she will leave you be and let you enjoy your visit. She has given me several great deals over the last few years, so don't be afraid to negotiate. The one-star reviews on this page are laughable; the staff here are very friendly and accommodating to everyone I've ever seen, irrespective of race or ethnicity. If you sensed "bad vibes," then perhaps that's a reflection on *you*, not your ethnicity. Fans of the feline variety, take note: the shop's true owner is "Rascal," a cute little fellow who, if you're charmed like me, will greet you as you enter the premises. Rascal lived up to his name on a recent visit, as he mugged for my camera (see photos) and followed me around the store to offer insight into the various trinkets behind the counter. Sadly, he is not for sale...though no cat really is for sale; cats own you, not the other way around. Definitely a five-star experience!

I recommend you visit them when you have time to browse. The Owners are wonderful, friendly and that alone made me return, sans hubby who is not a browser. There is just so much to see. I found on my next visit a dreamcatcher that reminded me of the one that my father had over our door growing up and somehow was lost over the years. when I saw it I instantly wanted to have it. Parking was convenient and the shop was spacious and laid out for easy browsing. We wandered in and out of each booth and found an eclectic selection of items from vintage garb to antique jewelry, books, most reasonably priced. Something I do not like about antiques malls is the inability to have a best price offered or lowered. Yes, the vendor on duty will call and try to reach a dealer for a better price, but it seems they usually offer only 10% if that. Still my friend and I purchased a few items and were happy with our finds. If you like perusing antique malls put Staging Post on your list!

I think they even had freeze dried candy at one point. This place has it all. The staff is very helpful and answers all questions. They have everything from vintage clothing, furniture, toys, records, books, and decor. I think you can find anything here you were looking for, and even things you weren't. The only negative, and I don't think it's the store, is some of the collectibles like toys or trading cards are overpriced, like above market. There are still deals to be had though. Definitely recommend it, a lot of the stuff brought back fond memories for me.

I really like the vibe of this place, as it reminds me of the swap meets we used to have back in Orange county at the fairgrounds. One thing I will say about this place is that the large awnings Make for a comfortable time to wander around if the sun is out. And that sun gets hot. The other thing I like about this place is how well kept the grounds are, it's lush and green and has plenty of spaces to bring out whatever it is you would like to sell. The other thing that's great is this is perfect for any kind of car show. The Volkswagen show that I attended easily could hold 350 to 400 cars. All of the staff that I've met have been great, and this place is run like a well-oiled machine. Bottom line? I will definitely be coming back here as long as the car shows are still happening.
