The food was good. I got a gyro basket that came with delicious fresh fries and a drink. I went with family and one member did not want tomatoes in their gyro. They had left the tomatoes in and removed the onions instead. When confronted about the issue, the lady at the counter had a attitude about the order and was trying to prove she was right and we were wrong. Good customer service means the customer is always right no matter what. Not the other way around. After the verbal argument about tomatoes, they took the gyro back and fixed it to our liking by removing the tomatoes and adding onions. read more

The only restaurant in the QCA where I would order Gyro! I have been enjoying gyros from Uncle Pete's since early 1970's when Chris's dad ran the restaurant. I have never had a bad experience in all those years. The other food always looks and smells delicious, but I have to have the best. Large and full of tender sliced meat, yummy tzatziki sauce,tomato, on a soft warm pita, with a huge portion of steak fries. Horrible. Tasteless, greasy and just a bad idea. Mayo and cucumber pieces does not make it tatziki sauce. This place is a bad representation of gyros. This is probably the best service and the food is so filling. The owner is extremely personable, I have even seen him sit down with customers and chit chat a bit with regulars. He will come by each table and make sure everyone is satisfied. My family and I travel an hour just for these yummy yummy gyro baskets. The menu selection is great and the amount of food you get for the price...well let's just say I can never finish it all in one setting. I love this place and so does everyone i take here. I highly recommend it. For what you would spend at some grease trap you can get quality food for just pennies more. read more

My family has been eating here for almost 20 years. Its a family ran restraunt, with the late Pete himself opening and operating the place and now his son Chris runs it. The staff is always friendly, the prices are very reasonable and the food is simply ''awesome''. You can eat in or carry out, either way its a winner. Absolutely terrific food. I cannot specifically say how the gyros are, because I don't care for lamb, but they make a chicken breast gyro that is beautifully cooked and well-seasoned. Uncle Pete's rules. Lived in the area for 6 years and visited the old and new locations . Both are awesome ! It's the closest thing to good Chicago food as I think Pete and his son who now runs it told me. Owner is almost always working and everyone is attentive to your every need and friendly and service is top notch. There is so much that's good it's hard to pick one thing. People swear by their Gyros but I like their burgers and fries, and I once suggested they carry Pizza Puffs and a week later they had them. I recently re-visited over the holidays the last 2 weeks and paid 5 trips to Uncle Pete's and savored every single bite! read more

Used to like this place, then realized that they now heat ALL OF THE GYRO MEAT in a microwave. Stunned when I first noticed, the manager acknowledged that they sure do and her attitude was that she could care less about their customers not knowing and seemed to have no concept of the complete ethical disregard for their customers. Just ate dinner there tonight. It was so tasty! I had the special. It was $8 but well worth it. Fries were hot and fresh and my gyro was extremely good (no surprise there). First of all, the food definitely worth the trip. Too bad the manager is unhelpful, unknowledgeable concerning his own credit card service provider, and most of all rude since instead of answering the customer's questions properly he just blames his own ignorance as the customer's fault. How his credit card service provider deals with his customers' cards, he should know, and if he doesn't, there is no need to be an ass about it. There are ways to turn the customer away politely. This just shows that he fails as a manager in Customer Service (Rating: Customer Problem Solving 1/5). Customers shouldn't have to verify how that particular business or others for that matter deal with cards because of some service-wise incompetent and ignorant manager, just to end up finding out that that manager doesn't what he's talking about.. I would return just for the food as long as that unaccommodating manager doesn't pretend to take care of customers (he'd just drive them away). '3 Stars' because of the food obviously, not that manager failing customer service. read more

I ordered just a basic gyro and the greek salad, I was blown away by the outstanding quality. Although a bit messy, the gyro was superb. The meat was of high quality and sauce was an excellent blend. In addition, the salad's lettuce was so-so but their dressing was the perfect. In addition to the above average food the service was impeccable, the cashier took the time to print my step dad a new menu and write some of the newer menu item on it for him. Everyone so friendly and polite, I would happily recommend this place to anyone. read more
